The most important thing about a #deGoogle phone is that the system and applications work without constant logging into Google/Apple and without built-in telemetry, and that permissions (especially network, location, microphone, camera) are only granted when they are really needed.

here in USA, Samsung & LG been in cahoots with FAANG, Qualcomm and telcos, partitioning root to hide their stalkware. they openly conspire to make it impossible to root USA & Canada phones running Snapdragon & Knox.
a properly degoogled phone works as the computer it is. i should be able to reformat with any AOS.

Being frank, for me this is more a global issue rather than a personal security concern. What a #deGoogle device brings is a choice to stop feeding even more the unstoppable oligopoly that reigns the world supremme without any other opossition that the equaly obnoxious Chinese statal conglomerate. We need to stop feeding the monster. More players, from all over the world must come in. We need to bring competition back to the ever more crucial technological sector.

On a #deGoogle *phone*? Headphone jack. If you think about it, it's in a similar spirit to deGoogling - let me have options! Such low hanging fruit too, SoCs do all the heavy lifting already.
I am 100% likely to recommend @Tutanota as a Gmail replacement. VERY happy with the service. If you're ready to #deGoogle #unGoogle or say #ByeGoogle, this is an excellent and impactful place to start.

I have been a long time user and promoter of @Tutanota for my email as part of my effort to #degoogle. However, I'm unfortunately at an impasse where they overcharged my credit card a ridiculous amount and are not responding to me at all. Definitely a deal breaker.
Does someone have alternative privacy centred email providers to recommend? Preferably ones that have support in case there's a billing error. To save me the hassle of doing credit card charge backs.
