Whatever platform you can tolerate using, I'll add to the kofi progress bar. I know there are many pressing and apex issues pushing us all for time and resource, so I really appreciate anyone that wants to help us go down with a good angry cathartic stomp. I am lucky to have a secure home but as I've shared in the past, I cannot work in public spaces so I subsistence farm and universe willing, make noise with my friends.

I have a serious question out there for those who like listening to music. How much do you think a musician/creator should get paid when you listen to their music?
I ask because the amount is pitifully small if you stream - for Soundcloud it would take around 400 streams for the musician to make 1 USD and that is one of the better streaming platforms. For Spotify, its thousands of streams - fine for Lady Gaga but not for small creators, often in niche markets.
On the other hand many musicians sell their music for a few dollars for a whole album or less than a dollar a track. Yet few seem to avail themselves of actually buying music.
Streaming is killing music and combined with the AI generated trash that is all over platforms like Spotify one has to wonder how much longer the market for music generated by real people will last.
So please, go seek out your favourite musician and BUY an album or track. Don't stream and certainly don't use Spotify.

Working on a piece of #music and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Still in very rough early stages, partner says she loves it, others think it's alright but nothing special. Very different from my usual stuff.

Sometime around the 2020 era, we lost the right to be mediocre at things we love.
No longer can you just bake bread...you must start a sourdough side hustle lol. Wanna stay fit and go jogging or running? Nah, you gotta optimize your biometrics for a marathon. What my point is that every hobby has been enshittified and gentrified into a brand opportunity.
This strange infatuation with optimization culture is killing the human spirit.
So this new year, starting tomorrow, one of my resolutions is to do something bad but fun. Maybe I write a terrible poem. I like to draw and paint, so perhaps I will draw a horse that looks like a table or sing off-key in the showers or in front of my loved ones. The algorithm driving the mainstream social media wants me to be a polished product, but my humanity lives in these messy, unoptimized, cringe-inducing joyful failures.
I will try to reclaim the right to be an amateur. Will you join me?
