In the last days of 2023, I embarked on a hiking journey to the Canary Islands.
Renowned as a destination for tourists and beachgoers, these islands are also a heaven for hikers, and boast an array of diverse ecosystems, from coastal dunes to pine forests to volcanic terrains.
My journey took me along the #GR131 route traversing #Tenerife and #GranCanaria.

In Greek mythology, a little owl represents or accompanies Athena and has become known as a symbol of knowledge and wisdom attesting to the staying power of the Olympians. The whispers of Athena's legacy are everywhere.
The symbology of the owl has often inspired my own journey. The ability to see through the darkness of life and find knowledge is a potent totem.

Not long ago, the enormous Haast's eagle soared over New Zealand.
Weighing almost 40lbs (18kg) with a wingspan up to ~10ft (3m), they likely feasted on the gigantic moa birds I described in an earlier post. Maori oral tradition also suggests they may have attacked human children.

Langsam aber sicher schlängelt sich das Wasser in vielen kleinen Kaskaden den Berg hinunter. Bemooste Steine brechen den Strom immer wieder auf und bilden Stufe für Stufe. Auf manchen sammelt sich sogar Herbstlaub, welches sich fotogen in den Vordergrund legt. Für mich ist das immer ein Bild wert. Dazu ein Stuhl und Kaffe, samt angenehmem Rauschen im Ohr.
