I used to depend on the Web to look for UNICODE characters, but not anymore. Now I use my system:

1️⃣ Alt + F2

2️⃣ gnome-characters

3️⃣ Type "lock"

And that's it. Very nice.

Once they add support for searching in more languages other than English, it will be great.

Beautiful. I love my D rk M. And that cursor, can't miss it (the white square). I wouldn't even know how to report this, what title would this be. Maybe just "plz help". #Gnome

@ebassi Oh ? Well just to clarify I am not hating on #Gnome, I made lat clear in my video. But I guess am so used to #Plasma's more customizable way of doing things. Now to just get over that VM issue where mesa n Mutter don't play well with each other causing UI breakages all over..

One of #Gnome's inconsistencies when it comes to themes.. Drop down stays dark in Light mode .. I mean why ? #Linux #xp

Dictionary was my first serious #GNOME application; I wrote during the 2.14 development cycle (late 2005) it to replace the old gdict utility that was written for GNOME 1.2 and ported to GNOME 2.0

For my sins, I ended up maintaining the gnome-utils package starting with GNOME 2.14 (2006), until we split it up for GNOME 3.4 (2012)

So remember how I was saying you shouldn’t have to know or care if your operating system is immutable for an immutable operating system to be usable by everyday folks? (You know, clever folks, like brain surgeons and astronauts, not just your regular garden variety tech hobbyist with time to spare following instructions from a wiki.)

Seems others think so too… #VanillaOS sounds very promising. #Fedora #Silverblue folks should take some notes.

If you’re seeing apps in the Updates tab of GNOME Software in Fedora Silverblue and a Download button that does nothing; it’s a known issue and a fix has been submitted for it.

Note: if you upgrade to GNOME 43, a number of quick settings are included in the system menu but quick bluetooth connection settings aren’t.

If you were using Bluetooth Quick Connect for that, the extension is currently being updated to support GNOME 43 so you should have that functionality back soon.

Hopefully this will be part of the quick settings in GNOME proper going forward. It’s what I use everyday to connect to my earphones.

Also, excellent first-run GNOME Software experience on Fedora Silverblue 37. Had about 28 updates listed, everything installed beautifully (with lovely row slide/disappear animations for installed apps).

(There were first-run issues with GNOME Software on Fedora Silverblue 36.)
