@schmaker Jede to jak z praku, chová se přesně tak, jak má, zcela předvídatelné. Když v tom jdeš, tak máš z toho radost. Možný brzdy by mohly být lepší, ale bylo to nové auto, tak si ještě nesedly, tak těžko soudit. Já tam šel s tím, že mi v autě fakt vadí dotykové displeje a neustálé šmírování, a odcházel jsem s tím, že to jsou jenom takové podružné detaily. Tak dobrý to auto je. Přišel jsem domů a začal počítat, jestli si můžu dovolit to hned objednat. 🙂 Bohužel mi do toho žena hodila trochu vidle, že do EV nesedne, že tam všichni uhoříme. Tak na tom budu muset ještě trochu zapracovat.

allegedly, and from my perspective as a former calyxos employee (i do not represent them)...

the founder was the keeper of the signing keys, and has stated this publicly. when he separated from the institute (which is a whole other story), he didn't give the signing keys to the institute in a timely manner, if at all. although there was no evidence that the keys had been compromised or accessed from outside the organization, there *was* reason to believe that they had not always been handled in a secure manner (which is yet another whole other story). also, because these were key *files*, and probably not even protected by passphrases (but i don't know), copies were always *possible*.

the OS team decided to only release updates signed with *fully* trusted keys going forward, that were not subject to unauthorized copies. the OS team has been working on a hardware security module-based solution for signing. the exception to this was one last update to inform users about this situation, to the extent permitted by comms folks. this was facilitated by eventual cooperation from the founder.

that being said, i do not myself believe that there is any actual risk today associated with using a build signed with these older keys, apart from it not having the latest updates. but i also support switching to new keys that are better safeguarded, and i can't guarantee there wouldn't be a risk associated with these older keys in the future.

there is more to know as well, but too much to write here. still, it is false to say that the calyxos team doesn't want you to know this.

There’s an accessibility bug on Mastodon: you cannot add custom alt text to your profile or header image. This means people using screen readers can’t know what these images show, so important info is missing for visually impaired users. ♿

Greetings everyone. I have an awesome Netflix tip for those who use screen readers. If you are listening to an episode on Netflix and want to know about the episode, simply tab over to the episodes button and hit the space bar and then you can use H to jump to the next heading and arrow down to the episode in question that’s currently playing and it will give you a synopsis for the playing episode. If you want to know about other episodes that you are watching, hit enter on another episode on that same page and you can read a synopsis for that episode and once you have finished browsing the episodes, hit escape to return back to your Netflix screen.

@ZBennoui Originally it was, but they changed that a while back. As of now, and as far as I understand it, the subscription will only enable features like route following or advanced scene descriptions. The basics of avoiding obstacles, following sidewalks, and so on won't be locked behind a subscription. Of course, we'll have to wait for launch to see what the final details are.

one of the most interesting and fun genres of online posts i see is zoomers and young millennials getting really hype cuz they found a video of like a 55 year old woman who picked up fortnight, or a 65 year old grandfather in a rap battle. no one is gonna laugh at you because people just kinda instinctively realize doing cool stuff when you are old is cool. so do the thing.

write fan fiction. start a blog about cool rocks. paint edgy horror art, dj a set, become a pro gamer. open furry porn commissions. learn guitar. change your career. write a novel. write a comic. do not march into the last half of your life with shame and regret in your hearts. you are beautiful and your passion is as radiant as the sun.

Do you know that you can use Subtitle edit to transcribe audio? It has a relatively accessible guy so you can use Purfwiev's faster whisper xxl, cpp, cpp cublas, const-me. Longer post how to use it follows:

Installing Subtitle Edit


Download the program from the developer’s website. Navigate to the level 2 heading labeled “Files.”
If you want to install Subtitle Edit normally, download the first file, labeled setup.zip.
There is also a portable version available, labeled SE_version_number.zip.

If you decide to use the portable version, extract it and move on to the next section of this article. The installation itself is standard and straightforward.

A Note on Accessibility


NVDA cannot automatically obtain focus in lists.
To find out which item in the list is currently selected, move down with the arrow key to change the item, then press NVDA+TAB to hear which one is focused.

Initial Setup


  • In the menu bar, go to Video and activate Audio to text (Whisper).
  • When using this feature for the first time, the program may ask whether you want to download FFMPEG. This library allows Subtitle Edit to open many audio and video files, so confirm the download by pressing Yes.
  • Subtitle Edit will confirm that FFMPEG has been downloaded and then ask whether you want to download Purfwiev’s Faster Whisper – XXL. This is the interface for the Whisper model that we’ll use for transcription, so again confirm by pressing Yes.
  • The download will take a little while.
  • Once it’s complete, you’ll see the settings window. Press Tab until you reach the Languages and models section. In the list, select the language of your recording.
  • Press Tab to move to the Select model option, and then again to an unlabeled button.
  • After activating it, choose which model you want to use. Several models are available:
    • Small models require less processing power but are less accurate.
    • Large models take longer to transcribe, need more performance and disk space, but are more accurate.
      I recommend choosing Large-V3 at this step.


  • Wait again for the model to finish downloading.


Transcribing Your First Recording


  • Navigate to the Add button and press Space to activate it.
  • A standard file selection dialog will open. Change the file type to Audio files, find your audio file on the disk, and confirm.
  • Activate the Generate button.
  • Now, simply wait. The Subtitle Edit window doesn’t provide much feedback, but you can tell it’s working by the slower performance of your computer—or, if you’re on a laptop, by the increased fan noise.
  • When the transcription is done, Subtitle Edit will display a new window with an OK button.


We Got Subtitles, So One More Step


In the folder containing your original file, you’ll now find a new file with the .srt extension.
This is a subtitle file—it contains both the text and the timing information. Since we usually don’t need timestamps for transcription, we’ll remove them in Subtitle Edit as follows:

  • Press Ctrl+O (or go to File → Open) to bring up the standard open file dialog. Select the .srt file you just got.
  • In the menu bar, open File → Export → Plain text.
  • Choose Merge all lines, and leave Show line numbers and Show timecode unchecked.
  • Press Save as and save the file normally.

If you’re transcribing multiple recordings, it’s a good idea to close the current subtitle file by starting a new project using Ctrl+N or by choosing File → New.

Conclusion


Downloaded models can, of course, be reused, so future transcriptions will go faster.
In this example, I used Purfwiev’s Faster Whisper. If you want to use a different model, you can select it from the model list, and Subtitle Edit will automatically ask whether you’d like to download it.

If people of different political persuasions were given a piece of paper, a few concepts (fascism, socialism, liberalism, maybe others), and a few historical and contemporary leaders (Trump, Biden, Mussolini, Hitler, Churchill, Pinochet, etc) and asked to stick the concepts and leaders on a map so that things that they saw as similar were close to each other, then I wonder what the results would be.

I'm thinking about an exchange that I had with one of my relatives on Facebook. I posted something that talked about fascism being defined by a strong leader who was not constrained by normal laws, a domestic enemy, and a promise to return the country to better days in an imagined past. This person responded with "like when liberals go around the world randomy killing people. I know who the fascist is--it's the entire Democratic party." I asked him how he would define fascism, and his response was "liberals."
