No strcpy either.

#curl
Some time ago I mentioned that we went through the curl source code and eventually got rid of all strncpy() calls. strncpy() is a weird function with a crappy API. It might not null terminate the destination and it pads the target buffer with zeroes.daniel.haxx.se

I've been debating how to have VoiceOver read the data points for a new section I'm adding to Please Don't Rain for sun events.
I asked on @AppleVis and a couple of users suggesting a setting for more/less verbose.
I'm experimenting with adding it.
it's crazy that we do this. Sometimes my dog refuses to eat her chicken until it has been washed again or set out for a while (as the chlorine will break down, faster with direct UV light). She must be able to smell it even when we can't.
makes you wonder how much chlorine Americans are ingesting every day

Welcome to the RB family, Interstellar 🥳
apt.izzysoft.de/packages/one.j…
Interstellar is a Fediverse client for Mbin/Lemmy/PieFed accounts. Having found the final culprit that kept it from being RB (after 6 months, and it was just a single thing to toggle! RBs can be bitches sometimes…), we finally succeeded
So raising the bar a little again, RB status is now at 774 apps (60.5%)

You've all seen countless of pictures of cats squeezed into boxes too small to contain them, by their own doing.
This means that cats are able to use clever compression algorithms to reduce their size in that particular situation.
But which algorithm are they using?

Pretty cool work from @sophie to see @gnome in numbers
blogs.gnome.org/sophieh/2025/1…
As some of you know, I like aggregating data. So here are some random numbers about GNOME in 2025. This post is not about making any point with the numbers I’m sharing. It’s just for fun. So, what...Sophie Herold (Sophie's Blog)

OK, so I said this before, but sometimes I really hate being blind. On the flipside though, when I watch a show or movie with audio description and it's well done, I sometimes get more information than sighted people.
For example, when Apple TV+ released Hijack, many of the discussions I saw on Reddit were confused about which character was which. I personally found it really easy to follow the plot, because the AD writer was really good about keeping on top of all the fast paced action going on throughout. Also for shows like The Mandalorian or really any Marvel movie, it seems like the description company and studio worked together when creating the AD track. To me, they come across as higher quality and feel more like a part of the show / movie than other descriptive tracks I've heard.
I saw my aunt this weekend. I always admired her growing up: she was a dedicated dancer, bird watcher, traveler, and general arts-enjoyer. I took up ballet and piano because I wanted to be just like her.
I just found out that she started all of those hobbies after she got sober in her 40s, shortly before I was born. Her defining characteristics, in my eyes, have occupied less than half of her life.
It was a nice reminder that you can start a new chapter of your life whenever you’d like.
This launch video for @TIBtv is so well done. It has a bunch of heart, a bunch of charm, and I'm happy this channel exists.
(If you miss the glory days of MTV, watch this. Then tune into The Indie Beat TV.)
I'm delaying that livestream for a few days- I have some end-of-the-year stuff to attend to, plus I really want to get my next scripted video out.
Doesn't help that we got snowed in yesterday so I've been tagged in for snow removal!
@neurrone I upgraded the motherboard and video card. You can find an accessible description of the framework here:
community.frame.work/t/framework-16-visually-impaired-owners-case-mid-plate-and-mainboard-orientation-guide/51168
And step by step instructions are here:

Between these two things, you have enough to get the job done.
When you have to re-enter your bitlocker key, it boots into a recovery version of Windows, where you can load narrator, enter your key, and restart.
Introduction This text describes the location, orientation and nature of some aspects of the framework 16 laptop for the benefit of visually impaired owners. It can be used alongside the framework maintenance guides.Framework Community
