@xogium it does say Remote eligible :) Could be worth a shot to apply you never know, it's a harder gig for being at senior-level but someone with a strong QA+ engineering background who has had like 5 years experience+ working at consulting or smaller gigs doing that could probably fit still too

Fun fact: I wanted to help in making the nextcloud accessibility better, as a tester as well as throwing new ideas on the table to improve the experience. Since I have disabilities myself, I know exactly what disabled users might be facing, you know? They booted me off because I can't code.
I have the feeling this job however isn't asking for coding so much as testing and actual suggestions for improvements. Reviewing code isn't the same as coding it myself, if that makes sense?
I have no prior experience as any sort of accessibility tester, or engineering, because I was never let looss, basically. :D
@xogium darn. Maybe not. It does say on the page "Are you interested in working out of any of the following office locations? Our job description will have location eligibility for the role. If the role is remote eligible and you wish to be remote, please leave blank." I just don't think they expose that as a choice for the job application on this position, quite a shame as it was there when I was hired on.
@tardis @xogium so many companies are rolling them back, it's a bit shocking. So far I guess Spotify is doing that for new hires (not sure if it's some or all jobs though, I can't say 100%,) I just hope they keep me on as remote because moving to either London, Stockholm or the NYC offices would really make me look around at that point. Remote was one of the reasons I was so comfortable taking it when I began.
Nice, didn't know you worked there. I'd be up for this if I was looking for a job and willing to move. The lack of remote-first vibes is disappointing though.
@jscholes That part even shocked me considering I'm in the US (So our team would have a London/EU split) but maybe they're wanting another engineer who works in that region so someone is awake for the EU timezones during the day and not just afternoon like I am. No indication that they're getting rid of remote work considering how distributed teams are and have been at Spotify since it started in 2006, but who knows with how tech companies are going.
@Mendi_Tech I wish - for now it's scoped to London and Stockholm. Time will tell sadly not - scoped to London and Stockholm. If you're in either of those, you'd have a chance to do home-mix between part-time office and work, though.

I've given up on stupidity. My family drove to vote for Brexit down a Welsh road paid-for by the EU, and they still thought their 98% white british population was being overrun by forreigners. You just can't fix stupid. If they'd had a reasonable case, even if I disagreed with it, i could've gotten behind them. But they didn't, and doing things just because you're told bothers me more than most things.

Many of my Brothers and Sister and their partners voted Brexit because of immigrants, given one of my Sisters who voted because of immigrants has a Greek daughter in Law and 3 half Greek Grandchildren and a half Polish Grand child all living in the UK than and now, all I can say is you can't fix racists.

The real so called "Unification Day" (ger. Der Einigungs Tag) was 11.11.1990, but new government chooses different "official" date for it due to the historical very bad events that took place on that particular day in the past, which collides with this national, supposed to be happy, holiday. So officially is now the 3rd of October instead of the 11 November. As for this "true democracy", well.. opinions are very different even now, as they were back then, few years after the event. 🤷♀️
MUFACE es una mierda, y no lo digo solo por no haber entrado. Tenemos bastante gente por aquí transferida del estado que pertenecen al régimen de MUFACE y la mayoría está optando por recibir la prestación sanitaria de la SS.
No, es más complicado. Los funcionarios del Estado en general tiene que cotizar a MUFACE, lo cual les trae una serie de ventajas e inconvenientes. Pero cosas como la prestación sanitaria, pueden elegir entre MUFACE o la SS. Antes solían optar por MUFACE y alguna de las aseguradoras privadas pero cada vez más tiran por la SS porque tiene mejores medios técnicos y más personal.
Otro tema es la prestación de jubilación por ejemplo, que sí que es MUFACE, y que les permite jubilarse a los 60, pero la prestación en general es inferior porque se cotiza por subgrupo y no por el nivel del puesto.
Los funcionarios autonómicos salvo los transferidos del Estado no estamos en el tema.
@modulux parece mentira que el funcionariado no esté en el sistema público. No tiene razón alguna el tema. Por cierto que la Casita Encantada también estuvo en una asewguradora y acabaron por negociar una integración a la seguridad social. Y menos mal porque me da a mi que si no íbamos a estar muchos en una situación bastante de mierda.
Es un tema curioso de historia juriídico-administrativa, pero básicamente en España se empezaron a crear mutuas de accidentes, hubo unas leyes en 1900 y 1908 que fomentan estos sistemas, pero eran de adhesión voluntaria. En los años 40 se crea un seguro obrero forzoso, pero que no se aplica a los funcionarios. Los funcionarios tenían cierta protección social mediante los estatutos y leyes de función pública y los derechos pasivos, pero eran una mierda, y por eso crearon o continuaron estableciendo mutuas voluntarias propias, que además no suponían gasto al Estado. En los 60 la seguridad social incluye por primera vez un régimen especial de funcionarios, y en los 70, buscando una homogeneización del sistema, se engloba todo el tema de mutuas, para los funcionarios civiles del Estado, en una sola. Y desde entonces nadie ha querido tocar mucho, aunque hoy se considere un sistema a extinguir.
