@Friendica Support
I would like to pull some content from Ukraine to my Friendica instance and found the following relay that has all hte relevent Ukrainien Mastodon instances:
relay.social.net.ua/
However, `console relay add relay.social.net.ua/actor` gives me a `couldn't be added`. The reason might be that this is not a yukicmochi relay but based on some other code. Would you be so kind to have a look whether this can be fixed on my end or on theirs and how?
in reply to Michael 🇺🇦

@Michael 🇺🇦 I see that in the Admin Panel, Sites, Message Relay, I can set "Number of languages for the language detection" and "Language Quality" and the description reads as if the relay filters inbound content. However, where do I set the languages for which to filter? There is no setting where I can select which languages I want to receive via the relay. Could it be that currently I only get English from all of my relays as my instance language is English?

So what we need is a) ability to configure the list of language for inbound filtering and b) filtering also, with a separate list of allowed languages per relay, filtering outbound contenct.

Where do I go to create an issue?

As to your other questions: I don't think we need Russian. In Ukraine, choosing Fediverse over mainstream networks is about equivalent to choosing to talk in Ukrainian only :). But generally, it would be good if we could configure a list of languages. As to readonly subscription, that would be a quick fix, but the Fediverse is about interaction, so it would not be a good solution.

As part of the History of the Web project, I was interviewed by Brian Kardell @bkardell of @igalia

We talked about my early (pre-W3C) involvement in PNG, CGM, HTML 2; and then some early CSS, SVG and WebFont history @w3c

Looks like Dino is enabling #OMEMO by default for the next release¹. I think that was the last of the major #XMPP clients to do so. Hopefully we can now put the "But XMPP is not encrypted by default" debate to rest.

You are encouraged to self-host #XMPP but you are not required to. We try to make self hosting as easy as possible. I think it is one step above hosting your own website but way easier than hosting your own e-mail.

If you are medium tech-savvy I recommend getting your own domain and going for an XMPP provider that let’s you bring your own domain (for example: account.conversations.im/domai…) this gives you the flexibility to self host or switch providers later.

Hi! Is there any chance we can encourage you to trend #NVIDIA when that's the company you mean, please? I know what their NASDAQ handle is, but #NVDA is much more widely known as the name of the screen reader we make and the #NVDA hashtag is very widely used for the screen reader. It will save both our communities polluting each other's feeds. If you'd like to find out more about the screen reader, our website is nvaccess.org/ - Thank you!
in reply to NV Access

@NVAccess I understand your concern, but I cannot change the names of listed securities on stock exchanges when I need to discuss them explicitly. If I search for NVDA, I only find NVIDIA’s stock quotes , not your product NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA) , which has been listed since 1999. Similarly, searching for Blender yields unrelated results. However, I rarely mention these, so it might happen once or twice a year, I will try if can avoid.

The first segment of this week’s New Yorker Radio Hour is eye opening… #NVDA #JensenHuang

Interestingly, we don't. I think that while a couple of accounts like yours, post now & then on NVIDIA with NVDA as a hashtag, no-one who actually follows or searches for hashtags would ever look for NVDA for information on NVIDIA - and really that is the ENTIRE point of hashtags - and why I saw your post in the first place. We see dozens to hundreds of messages a week using #NVDA to talk about the screen reader - which is why I reached out, so we DON'T pollute each other's feeds.

Hi NVAccess@fosstodon.org, I have a question regarding the future of NVDA Remote. Will you still be able to host your own servers, and if yes, are there already instructions etc. on how to do this? I only found github.com/nvaccess/remote-ser…, is this what I want?
in reply to NV Access

You can host your own within NVDA by selecting "Server" from the first group of radio buttons inside the Connect dialog. That is most appropriate setup for controlling systems on your own local network, and is what we were discussing recently.

As for hosting a separate relay that is accessible to multiple people on the internet, I have no experience with that. @jonathan859 @KaraLG84

Content creators: I know you have other things to worry about, but could you please back off on the amount of audio noise reduction you use? Unless you're in a noisy environment, it's not necessary. The default preset for it is usually way too heavy-handed, and sucks all the life out of your audio. It's especially bad when we purposely want to hear something other than your voice, whether it's a machine you're demonstrating or the natural environment you're in. youtube.com/watch?v=QaACdEXIqJ…
