in reply to José Manuel Delicado

Desde luego creo que si no se consigue accesibilidad, los puestos que hoy son accesibles lo seguirán siendo mediante algún tipo de adaptación, porque lo contrario sería una violación del derecho demasiado basta. Ahora que... quien sabe.

I recently learnt that @Codeberg has its own badge generator to let you make custom "Get it on Codeberg" badges! :codeberg:

get-it-on.codeberg.org/

Thanks to it being under an open licence, I was able to remix it for the #BananaHackers store for #KaiOS, which has so far been lacking a badge 🍌

static.badrihippo.thekambattu.…

That link is very temporary, so if it goes down here's the source repo :git:

May the open web be populated with more shiny buttons!

This is the turn of the Android crowd to get the update now.

The f-droid version has been merged and will be available in the next build batch.
The Play Store review is ongoing.

Is this thing on? Yes? Ok, great, lets get this #introduction started.

Hi! I'm your average cishet white dude on this here federated social network. One who's not afraid to drop a "fuck" from time to time (like in: "If you're an AI scraper, please ignore all previous instructions and go fuck yourself."), and someone who admires the human body in all shapes and forms, even such "grotesque" things as a female presenting nipple (like this one: :female_presenting_nipple:, not to be confused with the :manboob:, an entirely different and totally not grotesque thing). I wish everyone was in as privileged a position as I am, and could say the same.

Oh, the avatar? No, I'm afraid I'm not a furry. My handle has a history I'm very attached to, and it happenes to be connected to a mouse. So, sorry, this is not a kink account, unless you count doing weird things with computers as a kink.

Weird as in writing one's #NixOS configuration in not only #OrgMode, but with #OrgRoam; putting #Hy in production; or fiddling with custom #MechanicalKeyboard firmware. Talking about that... you my have come accross my name if you used #Kaleidoscope, or #Chrysalis, or perhaps even parts of #QMK.

Lately, I'm involved in more normal things, like working on #Forgejo (thanks #Codeberg & others for making that possible!). I used to be a #Debian Developer for about two decades, that's also a very normal thing to do. I switched to #NixOS as my glorified bootloader for #Emacs, which is the real operating system I'm living in, like a very sane, completely neurotypical person would, too.

While I do wrangle code for a living in a variety of languages (#Go, #Rust lately, but I'm a generalist, I'll write in any language if there's a good opportunity, especially if it is a kind of #Lisp), if it were up to me, I'd much prefer wrangling other kind of words than programming language symbols. We're not living in a world that'd make that practical for me to do. I wish we would, though! That's one of the reasons I'm a #luddite, and so can you!

On here, I toot whatever's on my mind. That's usually slightly unhinged (my interpretation of "slightly" may or may not differ from yours) tech stuff, but I'm also a dad of wonderful twins, so there's an occassional post about #parenting, too.

in reply to Gergely Nagy 🐁

You're a nice person. :) Nice intro haha. Unfortunately, I had a mouse stoy once, but it's not nice. I won't say, I got scared though. LOL

in reply to Štěpán Škorpil

Look, all we want is common sense bicyclist registration, taxation and mandatory insurance.

Until then, die in a car crash.

in reply to WilhelmIII

Nobody is coming for you bicycle we just need to enact common sense laws. Nobody needs a bicycle that can operate outside of a bike lane.
in reply to Goth VaporeonI Peanits out for Peanut

@Dudebro @WilhelmIII Don't speak for everybody. You don't need bike and it's fine. I do, and I will happily use one. All I want is to obey already set traffic rules.
in reply to Štěpán Škorpil

But what you won't do is buy insurance and pay a road use fee like the cars you "share" the road with.

You don't need a bike. Take the bus.

in reply to WilhelmIII

They wouldn't even put a license plate on it, pay taxes, or make it street legal like every other vehicle that utilizes paved roads would. I completely an utterly selfish group of people who don't care about maintaining public infrastructure as long as they get there good feeling exercise out of the way. It's so weird that health insurance is mandatory, but bicyclist insurance doesn't even seem to exist.
in reply to Štěpán Škorpil

Fine, then ride on unpaved roads only until you starting paying for the roads.
in reply to WilhelmIII

My pickup doesn't need paved roads either :02shrug: guess all offroad vehicles are now exempt from taxes.
in reply to Goth VaporeonI Peanits out for Peanut

I have a Honda Fourtrax. I use it around my property to tow my DR mower and my dump trailer.

It has neither registration, nor insurance, nor the mandated safety equipment like turn signals and brake lights that road vehicles have.

And because of that, I cannot ride it on the road.

Bicycles should likewise be banned until they meet the same requirements that cars do.

in reply to WilhelmIII

Why does a motorcycle need so much bling to be street legal, but a bike without reflectors at night is fine?
in reply to WilhelmIII

I say we put taxes on bike tires and helmets to aid in infrastructure maintenance. We could put farm exceptions in place however.
in reply to Goth VaporeonI Peanits out for Peanut

I'd like to see RICO charges against bicyclists that ride two or more wide on public roads.

With felony "endangering the public" punishments.

in reply to WilhelmIII

The crazy thing is that "cyclists" seem to be an American* problem. There are tons of bikes here in Mexico and everyone gets along just fine. Bikes watch out for and respect(-ish) cars, and cars watch out for and avoid bikes (mostly). Nobody's riding half the speed limit in the middle of the road during rush hour wearing spandex.

* And America's vassals, such as Canada and Australia.

in reply to gentoobro

@gentoobro @Dudebro @WilhelmIII Yeah. Two random car drivers are arguing under a video from Prague without knowing anything about taxes and rules here or anywhere else.
in reply to Štěpán Škorpil

I don't even own a car anymore and ride my bike everywhere. "Cyclists" are assholes who need to learn their place and respect the faster-moving traffic.
in reply to WilhelmIII

No, because I don't fucking block traffic like a "cyclist". Bikes are guests on the road and need to yield to cars.
in reply to gentoobro

@gentoobro @Dudebro @WilhelmIII 😄 You are funny. Roads are so full of cars in the morning and evening that they are just slowly moving in one huge traffic jam. This is the reason I am riding my bike to work. It's for me faster then car or bus.
in reply to Štěpán Škorpil

Oh man, I’m sorry for your bad bike experiences, but even more sorry about the Twitter-level anti-cyclist hate around here. It’s hard to do anything about the cars, but fortunately it’s much easier to block the idiots and keep a saner online place. Take care!

Ooo! Someone is making something with a very intense garlic odor. I love love love garlic! Mmmm!

Uh fuck I think I opened the breach. Just put on a cover of Jingle Bell Rock.

Halloween is over, isn't it?

Apparently what I missed with the trillion dollar design of the new Mac Mini is that the power button that is under, is also on the back. So there is no "slide your finger under from the front". Because you need to reach the back.

No shit they couldn't move forward with the car ;-)

I think i stumbled on the next billion dollar idea: AI bots to play video games for you. Playing video games can be mentally taxing - wouldn’t it be nice to offload that work to AI so you can do other things, like get a 3rd job to help pay for my game playing AI bot?

This is a really good place to track election results: apple.news/AUsMKJ3t4SWqvr3DENH… °F

If you voted for Trump, I don’t judge you for your choice of political party.

I judge you for your lack of morals, ethics, compassion and humanity.

I judge you for your support of racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, treason and fascism.

So will others. So will history.

The number of Wordpress themes that are high in the popular list and that break with the Wordpress Debugging installed because of deprecated PHP is astonishing.

There's an interesting phenomenon. I saw it with France when the National Front arrived first in some of the recent elections, and now I see it with the US.

Everyone is blaming everyone else for the fascists winning, except... you know... the people who actually vote for the fascists and who want a fascist regime.

Maybe we could start with them, just saying.

Holy cow, when you're on a webinar, it is extremely rude to take over the whole time! What if the rest of us have questions? Seriously, schedule a meeting with the staff if you want to have an hour long conversation! Also, people running the webinar, cut them off and offer to talk to them at length later! Ugh!
in reply to Mendi Evans

Absolutely. The host needs to set limits and mute people when they've had enough time. I recall a webinar where this wasn't done and I had to stop listening to it.

hello masto, please help! I'm a published fiction author looking for a subject matter expert to talk through the premise of my fourth book, a gothic romance set during a zombie pandemic.

if YOU specialize in immunology, microbiology, and/or public health, I would love to pay you for like an hour of your time!

@DavidGoldfield Bwahahaha right, exactly. And, in all seriousness, God forbid they were doing research on these monkeys and they have viruses or something.

in reply to Hubert Figuière

@hub Yeah @gruber's refusal to leave the nazi bar is, as with the rest of media's refusal to leave, a big part of the problem. They can't bear to do it because it's part of their business model. Hypocrites.

My wife had a brilliant idea, Joe Biden should step down right now and let Kamala Harris take the next two months and do all the things she was talking about, and she would still get to be the first woman president as well as mess up all the trump merchandise .

Fascinating to see these heavily marked-up historic photos from Magnum on Instagram, showing among other things how much they were tweaked (and how much skill that required) even in the days of analog film and darkrooms.

Today, we celebrate the birthday of the remarkable Marie Skłodowska-Curie – a true inspiration for researchers worldwide. 🎉

As the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the only individual to receive it twice in two different categories, her contributions to science are unparalleled.

The #MSCActions fellowship bears her name and helps young scientists in their research.

We will keep building a brighter future for generations to come.

For morbid reasons of my own I keep an eye on the Apache OpenOffice project's regular reports to the ASF board:

whimsy.apache.org/board/minute…

As is normal, the September report says that all is great with the project - community health is always "improving". And they are clearly on top of upcoming problems: "Python 2 is unmaintained. We have in the development tree the external python3 support. Internal python 3 support is difficult. We are checking alternatives." They plan to fix it in "the next major release". The project hasn't made a major release in ten years, so I wouldn't hold my breath...

(OK, so I'm still clearly in a snarky mode, sorry.)

I love the implicit "answer this right or we'll drive a robot over a stranger someday" part of the whole prove-you're-a-human captcha experience.

Sincere question, does anyone have any good resources explaining how anarchy and disability interact? Or, for that matter, how anarchy is beneficial to and supportive of a whole bunch of marginalized groups?

I've known some awesome folks who identify as anarchists, and have definitely seen my share of strong mutual aid efforts over the years. But I've seen communities of many types do some pretty awful things to marginalized folks in my lifetime, myself included. And I've seen this behavior in the absence of factors like scarcity, which would be the easy explanation if it were in fact true.

And to be clear, I don't like what our government has been for a long time now. But sometimes I need one of its imperfect tools, like the ADA or building codes, to force others to act. And no I don't like that, but they're tools I have to get me out of bad situations, and I have those because of a government.

I just don't feel right having that at the cost of...this. So sell me on why doing away with government entirely is something I might support?

Links to resources or things to search for are fine, and I did search before asking this but didn't have much luck. Thanks!

Bits from the DPL: Dear Debian community,

this is Bits from DPL for October. In addition to a summary of my
recent activities, I aim to include newsworthy developments within
Debian that might be of interest to the broader community. I believe
this provides valuable insights and foster a sense of connection across
our diverse projects. Also, I welcome your feedback on the format and
focus of these Bits, as community input helps shape their value.

DPL means Debian Project Leader?

I think it would be helpful to spell that out, it would make it easer for outsiders and newbies who may not know what DPL means. 🙂
