I posted a while back about my occasional (but regular) need to paste numbers, stripping out punctuation, spaces, etc. This is particularly useful when paying bills, since amounts, reference numbers, etc. are often written with spaces or punctuation, but banking sites tend to barf if you include those. It turns out you can do this with Ditto Clipboard Manager using a paste script. I originally thought that paste scripts always ran, which doesn't work for me, but it turns out that they actually appear as items in the Special Paste menu, which is IMO not very well documented. Anyway, go to Ditto -> Options -> General -> Advanced -> On Paste Scripts and add this script: clip.AsciiTextReplaceRegex("[^\\d.]", ""); return false; The name you specify is what appears in the Special Paste menu. You can even assign a shortcut key to that Special Paste item. Then, you just have to open Ditto, go to the item you want to paste and press the shortcut key (or use the Special Paste menu).
we had a question on this and whether we should include the hyphen in the bank details on the NV Access donate page. I was going to ask if you had an opinion on it one way or the other. Just looking though, we've got "BSB and account no" label, then the numbers as "BSB - Account". I'm not sure you could copy that as is into any bank site / app, but you can grab either of those numbers on their own which seems useful (unless overseas banks want it as one number?)
@Quentin Yeah, I think it's fine as is. As far as I've seen, Australian banks don't let you copy them as a single number anyway; they're always two separate fields. Merging them would make it harder for Australian donors.
@Quentin One of the cases that drives me wild is my local council rates bills. They split up the reference number with spaces, but if you paste it onto *their own* billing portal, it rejects it. Absurd.
Some of them are amazing and you can just tell... they never actually followed a user's progress through the workflow... I forget what it was now, but I had to do something with, I think a utility service awhile ago - it was something they couldn't do in the app but fear not - they could get you to their website to do it.... It was easy, the app on your phone generated a QR code, which you could scan with your phone (the one which was ALSO displaying the QR code....) to get to the right place on their website... I managed it, from memory, by taking a screenshot of the QR code screen and then working out how to get the phone to search it for a QR code.....
thanks for this, I always struggle to go to the options section of ditto, when I press the ctrl+grave key and right click, there are all sorts of menu, but not options. How do you go to options? cc @KaraLG84
@kaveinthran You have to get to it via the system tray context menu. For some reason the only way I've found to get it to come up is by using the systray list nvda add-on unless Jamie has a better idea. Once you're in the options dialogue you can set a shortcut key to that menu.
If you get to the icon in the notification area (AKA system tray) of the taskbar, you can press the applications key (AKA menu key) to get the menu to come up. Once you get into Preferences, you can also bind a keyboard shortcut on the Quick Paste keyboard tab to bring up the menu so you don't have to faf around with the taskbar next time. I bound control+m here, so I can just press control+`, control+m to get the menu.
@kaveinthran I did the same. I wonder if it's a Windows 10 issue because pressing the applications key on ditto never works. It's the only one that doesn't for me.
@KaraLG84 @kaveinthran Does routing the mouse and right clicking work? I think Windows 11, for all the other things it broke, might have actually fixed the menu key for problematic system tray icons, as I haven't seen this problem for a very long time.
@KaraLG84 ah, that's weird, systray list NVDA addon do not show ditto for me, nor the Jaws system tray list function, the mouse rightclicking on the ditto list showed everythingelse except the options menu, is there any keybinding file that I can tinker with to add shortcut for the preferences?
@kaveinthran @KaraLG84 No, you have to right click on the system tray icon, not the list. I'm not sure why that wouldn't be appearing. Did you try pressing "Show hidden icons" on the system tray?

@KaraLG84 finally it worked, I hunted down the ditto online forum and they said that if two instants of ditto is running it may not show. So I killed my ditto process, and run it again, it showed up. I asigned ctrl+m to the menus. Perfect, thanks folks, I really appreciate it. What other features that you usually use, I am just trying to discover hidden gems here, I should try the num without dashes thingy.

This is happening in the audiobook space, the commercial audiobook space, and just *sigh* it stinks as a consumer because now I am scared to *buy* anything after 2023 because no disclosures, no nothing! No saying it is, ahem, AI, or anything! I'd often joke that everything AI deserves to be pirated and stolen without anybody giving any money to anybody that uses these things to generate content, like, public content, but I know two wrongs don't make a right but slop is flooding the internet now, to the point where I'm starting to use piracy sites as a catalog of sorts just to find indie authors that don't just pump out AI narrations without even disclosing as such, and then giving thess fake narrators full names and just UGH! Now, though, I'm just tired. I haven't heard anything about it in the music space so assumed it didn't hit that industry yet, but this is also another reason I stick to podcast directories and such. I recently got an update to a sound library, granted this was a free update to something I purchased 10 years ago so I can't complain too much, which added over 3000 new effects. Which was all well and good until I found things like an "elephant trumpet" that sounds like someone badly blowing into a trumpet, or other sounds with that trademark AI fuzz in them. And as for how this is effecting music Ben Jordan's most recent video which is totally worth watching says this year alone there has been a 15% per day increase in song registrations this year, meaning around 50 million new songs were uploaded to streaming services just last year. Following a couple of days walking around Almogía over the Christmas break, I've added 3 local signposted hiking trails to OSM.
I'm especially pleased that OSM-based outdoor maps will now show connections between the Camino Mozárabe to the east and the PR-A 293 to the west, via the summit of Santi Petri. Both were already mapped, but until now it was difficult to be sure from online information if there was a waymarked route between them.
Also as part of mapping these recent hikes, I've been trying out uploading some of my survey photos to #Panoramax via @MapComplete - mainly of guideposts and information boards/maps. Previously I only used this kind of photo to inform my mapping, without sharing them. But it seems kind of a waste to leave them sitting on my hard drive.
Of course the danger is that I'll now start worrying about the lighting and composition of what used to be mere throwaway survey snapshots...

Definitely not as impressed with it as I was with Google LM. I think the voices don't sound as vibrant since they're using ElevenLabs "quick clone" and even if you do one of the magic voice options, not all of them come out great. (Mac OS Alex though somehow came out exactly on-point.) The hosts sound bored, horrible to me. This is why I threw it together in my lunch break, 30 minutes, fed it the Mist World Wiki and a few sources, edited the chapter outlines a bit to make sure it's not adding bad info, and threw it together. I would not be offended if people turn it off after the first minute, truly. Horrible. What would this thing do with API docs of speech synthesizers or info about old retro tech? Not great.
Even though the disadvantage that I found is that the free plan only generates just one! Just one clone of a voice. From starter goes to 2, which is... um... boring. I really don't know why they haven't put mutch attention to that on the first place
@luiscarlosgonzalez yeah, that's true too, unless you use one magic-clone and one pro-clone (which I think you might still be able to do in the free version too)
I don't know what's the limit on hosts on ElevenLabs, but since I have my subscription suspended unless I renew it guess I'll have to wait untill NotebookML adds multilingual support for podcast as well as voice cloneing, which I believe it surpasses my reseption
@TwoThousandStu exactly! The moment I heard the sample voices it generated from the mp3 I was like yep, has to be. Funny how at one point the words "cough cough" are in it, and although I get reading that outloud, it would have been nicer if the host would have actually coughed. There's this big disconnect right now between the AI's transcript (text LLM) and ElevenLabs in terms of emotion, and the only time there's anything are the slight speech pauses or slow-downs that ElevenLabs itself is adding. So this will for sure need to evolve and Notebook LM has the edge on the voice.
I don't know what you're using to make this, this reads like the second or third post in a thread but I couldn't go back any further. I know of Eleven Labs Gen FM but it sounds like this isn't quite that? Confused.
@FreakyFwoof oh it's this new Podcast studio thingy called Jellypod, not the best but I guess still early on its cycle, was hoping they had at least done more customizations or work than raw Elevenlabs but I'm a bit doubtful
@FreakyFwoof a lot of what these AI podcast studios also lack is some type of music dub-over alongside the voice. Even if they have chapters for an intro, I don't truly feel like any of these are "podcasts" and I would not dare publish them to a mainstream platform until some of these bumps get ironed out like that, right now you can make it work if you're a professional but the web is getting flooded with a lot of low-quality dry AICasts.
@vick21 oh, the game's at mwgame.net and our wiki at mwgame.wiki (I maintain it for the community.) The game is from China (So is PUBG, though) and does have P2W elements, competitions are not super balanced, but for me it's been a prime stress relief after work (even if that meant building up 3 blessed characters in 2 years, cause I'm insane xD)
Though of course the devil is in the detail, it would still need quite some native integration work to make it useable for normal users, so currently it is not a goal for us. So it won't replace our native #deltachat_ios app any time soon ;)
@hub Nah, the consequences part is in addition. But far too often identification rarely happens or happens too late. Make it transparent so some nerd could make a bot or crowd source a thing that displays which stores break the rules and how often.
