My new single “Brand New Day” is out now!

This is a song about loss, stuck in that uncomfortable moment of coming back home after losing someone that used to be there.

Rooms feel larger than before, and the smell of their belongings almost detaches you from reality.

“…far away, I want to feel your grace, for the moment before I break, I want a brand new day…”

@AdrianVovk @felipeborges @mattdm The position was that by getting out of this stuff, they can focus more on "storefront" things like publisher verification, payments processing, etc.

There was also an argument that not knowing how the Flatpak is built lowered the risk to Flathub, but I don't really buy that.

The discussion happened, but many people pushed back, and it didn't end with “yeah let's do it”.

I personally think it is a bad idea for OSS, no matter the restrictions.

People should be able to inspect manifests and trust the binary is its output

Maybe @barthalion can shim in about what the plans are.

👀 at this:

mozilla.org/en-US/about/leader…

I'm baffled about the myriad of @mozillaofficial structures, amount of directors / C-level people & how to rhyme 'investing in privacy-respecting advertising; with 'draw a bigger circle of supporters over the long run.'

As a long time Mozilla supporter, I was already unhappy about the direction of the last years & this does certainly not bode well for the future. 😞 😩

I've been collecting guidance, documents, examples, templates for open-source software projects, such as on governance, roadmaps, contributing, code of conduct, licenses, etc. in github.com/corsa-center/oss-do….

Now I would like to add sustainability plans. What projects have good sustainability plans that I can link to? Or even guides about how to write one.

Gatineau police want residents to report neighbours with out-of-province plates

What kind of fucking thing is this? Are they going full on fascism?

in reply to Hubert Figuière

Glad I am not in your neighbourhood. If I saw a string of underage girls being trafficked of a house on the street. Or a car that pulled up beside a woman jogging, clearly unwelcome and was harassing her or drug deals at the front door of my neighbour, I would snitch. Guess I am a fascist then. What about building an pool without a permit or inspections? I wouldn't want the children down the street drowning in the new pool because the fence wasn't built to code. But I am a fascist. Bye.

Really sad to see Mozilla committed to such a dystopian vision of the future of the web.

"While Firefox remains the core of what we do, we also need to take steps to diversify: investing in privacy-respecting advertising to grow new revenue in the near term; developing trustworthy, open source AI to ensure technical and product relevance in the mid term"

Really, what I would love to see is a project with a vision and principles.

Where is the browser with activity pub integration? Where is the browser with rss feeds? Where is the browser that doesn't have to disable the tracking crap, because it simply doesn't exist in the first place?

If we want a web that works for the people, we need to build a browser that takes responsibility for those values.

While understanding that that is a damn expensive thing to ask.

While our southern neighbors' late-stage capitalism autocrats are busy speedrunning the sabotage of their country and trying to bully my country as collateral, up here we're having a “F' it, enough debates, let's launch our own high-speed inter-city rail infrastructure project to serve 40% of the population and boost the local economy” moment 🤷

Let's hope it doesn't get cancelled after elections in Q4 🤞

@hub Yeah, if they do a no-confidence motion thing before the set October dates, then we're probably getting a shakeup in Q2-Q3.

As for whether the rail project will be stuck in devhell etc., I, too, will be waiting to see the first shovelling to truly believe my eyes. But it's nice to have an exciting project to look forward to in these gloomy times :blobcatcoffee:
