Today in 1994, 31 years ago: WXYC, the student radio station of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, launches the world's first internet radio broadcast.
Have you ever booted a zip archive? I was doing my regular computing shenanigans, and then it dawned on me that a floppy image can be a valid ZIP archive. That's because the boot sector and the FAT table are at the beginning of the file, and the ZIP file header is at the end of it. The trick was used in the past for something called "rarjpeg" (a JPEG image that is a valid RAR file).
I needed a test fast, so I took @nanochess's bootBASIC, and created a file that has the bootsector at the beginning, then 701709 bytes of padding, and then 25159 bytes of ZIP file with the bootBASIC sources.
It can be unzipped by your favourite archiver, or booted in your favourite emulator ( qemu-system-i386 -fda bootableBASIC.zip)
I found possibly the darkest humor ever in a physics text. The first chapter of "States of Matter" by David Goldstein begins:

Slack annoyance of the day: If you switch between workspaces with control+tab while running a screen reader, it reads whatever announcement was last spoonfed to the screen reader via the hidden announcer live region trick. So I guess they have a separate announcer region per workspace. Thoughtless compartmentalization enabled by component systems FTW.

I've said it before, but it's disappointing when small things let down the #accessibility of an otherwise good interface.
For instance, I've told many people that the Tailscale web UI is actually quite good with a #screenReader. Unfortunately, the first thing an NVDA user hears after authenticating is a bunch of nonsense caused by an unlabelled SVG, and it doesn't create the best first impression:

По совету @abera80486 перешёл с пены для бритья на мыло для бритья. Взял мыло Proraso, лезвия Feather. Иии... сразу испортил себе впечатление порезами и раздражением. Но потом вернулся к копеечным лезвиям Спутник, и всё стало хорошо.

I was thinking about the benefit of compiling Erlang/Elixir C NIFs with Fil-C, but that won't really help much. It has security benefits but not reliability benefits.

A recent update in Debian broke usage of the compose key in @dino and @gajim and other GTK software. I have no idea what's going on, but I can no longer type "ü" or some other characters. :(

It's sad that everyone has to put up "Making sure you're not a bot!" pages across the Internet (especially when it comes to FOSS). But they have to, to prevent scrapers from hitting sites so hard.
It's kind of funny that it's "Making sure you're not a bot!" at multiple levels here. So the unintended title switch in the comment is actually appropriate in this case.

#deltachat is a private messaging app. It'd be easy enough to offer various public groups to boost onboarding, and let everyone play. But one would land in a large group that isn't very private, with lots of needs for moderation tooling, troll handling and other social-media issues. Not our current cup of tea.
We are grateful for the many folks here onboarding their families, projects or friends, founding special-interest chats, setting up #chatmail relays etc. This is wonderful, cheers!
Maybe something a bit in the opposite direction: private relays. As far as I can tell, it's not possible to set up a relay that requires invite/password/some other auth to sign up.
I'd like to onboard my employer with our own relay for employees, but not for others.
@michael there are some consideration (and a PR) on more closed modes of operating relay onboarding. However, it's a bit like using a train with 50k seats with a few people only :)
