Ihr habt bei Video Call / Chat noch zwei andere Messenger vergessen. Es gibt noch #SimpleX und #Matrix. πŸ™‚
in reply to Tuta

So... #Signal and #Wire, which both have issues, but not #Matrix / #XMPP? And for video, 2 #YouTube front ends and a proprietary YouTube clone, but no direct mention of #Peertube? And for Translation, the proprietary #Deepl, but no mention of the local and #Privacy respecting #Firefox #translate

I appreciate the intent of this post, but the research is... outdated at best.

@Blort Better yet, make it an HTML page and open-source the code so people can make pull requests to update it.

Immich is a nice self-hosted (!) Google Photos alternative.

More email alternatives (EU based):
GMX
Protonmail

Password Managers :

Have tried to degoogle as much as possible but use family link to supervise my kids phones, so it might be a few years before I'm completely free of google and migrated to a murena phone .... which btw uses e/OS alternative to android OS.

for chat missing threema and zulip (can also be self hosted)
in reply to Tuta

in email and calendar Proton is also an alternative. In "Google Play Store" you could also add Droid-ify and Aurora Store.
in reply to Tuta

Immich for photos! They even provide a helm chart for the k8s-inclined. It's all self-hosted, the data never leaves your stack.
in reply to Tuta

what about @e_mydata as an android alternative? I’ve been thinking about getting a Fairphone with /e/Os installed on it.

The attached picture can be improved, a bit outdated.

For chat, Matrix and XMPP clients (e.g Element and Monal) can be used.

Libre Translate can replace Google Translate.

2FAS Auth is a nice project for OTP codes.

Strongbox is nice to store passwords.

PeerTube is a real YouTube alternative instead of YouTube facades.

And Yandex is an efficient search engine.

Not sure Authy is a good option. They make it incredibly difficult to get your data back. When they discontinued their desktop app I had one hell of a time migrating away from them. Took days.

@Em0nM4stodon

Cool I can check all ready 8-9 of the categories.

one of the more difficult for me. is to get a phone with unlockable bootloader to load graphene on it. Plus as congenital measure I need a second phone, so I can check if my banking app works on graphene.

πŸŒπŸ”’ Hey everyone! I'm 11 and super passionate about digital privacy! I use a bunch of cool alternatives like Tutanota for email, ProtonMail, and even Session for messaging. I love using privacy-focused search engines like Ecosia and Mojeek, and I avoid the big tech companies. I also use F-Droid for apps and keep my Android as private as possible. Digital privacy is super important, and I think schools should teach us about it! Let’s protect our info together! πŸ’»βœ¨ #DigitalPrivacy #PrivacyMatters

wow! I can replace glogle just by using Firefox, searx, signal, tuta, lineageOS, open street map, bitwarden, freeOTP AND vimeo?? I wonder why more people don't do this!
in reply to Tuta

Missing:
Mail/calendar - posteo.de
Browser - LibreWolf
Search - MetaGer
Android OS - DivestOS
Messenger - Briar

What about Vivaldi as a browser and Manjaro as phone os?
in reply to Tuta

Don't forget the Aurora alternative google play store. I also use Linux and the X-lite stripped windows 10 version on my home PC's so I don't have That recall thing.

For those looking for a replacement for Google Keep there's Joplin.

Been using so far and it's actually good.
