Hello. Yes, sometimes, setting things up is a challenge, however, things are improving. The QT environment variables are definitely not needed for QT 6, and likely 5. Same can be said about GTK_MODULES, which are not needed at least from GTK 3.

I recently installed vector pinball from @fdroidorg - great to kill some time, and especially fun because of the sound effects and background music. Out of curiosity I followed the link to the README in it's github repo. In it, the author thanks the guy who added the sound effects and music, who wanted to try out a sound library for android and therefore sought out a silent open source game and created sounds and music for it. @devhonk Unfortunately going with "permissive" license is not really being generous: it is giving legal justification to others to use your code to exploit users.
As I personally look at Free Software from the "consumer protection" angle, I don't think the so-called "permissive" licenses are ever a good idea.

I was surprised at my phone ringing last night, until I realised I got a real non-test push notification from the experimental fork of Nextcloud made by Niklas Reimer. It uses @unifiedpush in the #foss and @fdroidorg compatible version of Nextcloud, and notifications don't go through Google Services or the Nextcloud Push gateway.
@IzzyOnDroid I didn't. With #FOSS being FOSS I didn't expect anyone to oppose. So @GrapheneOS do you approve or do you have reasonable objections against adding your camera #Android app to #FDroid?

If you are looking for open-source sampled instruments to use in your music, here's a great repository: sfzinstruments.github.io/
They use the SFZ format which is the best way to make sampled instruments. It's open-source, easy to edit (all based on text + audio files) and well documented.
To use these instruments in Ardour or other DAWs I'd recommend the open-source plug-in sfizz:

indeed, it aims to replace @keybase with the benefits that it's entirely #foss , more decentralized and no focus on other functionality apart from identity verification. And we are still actively in development!
On a personal note, as the person running this account, it's especially awesome to see #Audacity on the list -- that was my first introduction to #FOSS in 2001.
