A barn swallow delivering a meal to one of its hungry nestlings.
Or perhaps conducting a choir?
From a recent photography workshop I was running on Mull.

A swan on what looks like a collision course β taken as I was standing, apparently in a good spot for flying over, on a hill next to the lake it took off from. It was gaining altitude faster than it was closing the distance, so this didn't feel quite as perilous as it might appear!

My husband had to wait for 6 years to capture this view of #TheNeedles.
Taken as the #moon set at 4.30 am last summer. This shot is only possible a couple of times each year. He almost had it in 2016 but it was slightly too breezy and the telephoto lens couldn't keep in focus.
It causes controversy as some think it's fake, I promise you that it is not. It involved much research, persistence and luck with the weather! It's the cover shot on our 2024 calendar #IsleofWight #photography

There is a feather out of place.
I like the way the crest looks on this female northern cardinal. I didn't notice the odd feather on the wing until I started processing the photograph. It makes me wonder if something happened or did, I just catch her before her all fixed up for the day. A fun thing about spring is everything turns green, a really nice background for bird photos.

Holy moly!! Lightning caught mid-strike as it hits a tree. β‘ π³ π²
I hope the photographer was using an extremely long-range telephoto lens, as lightning will travel along root systems, which can extend some distance away depending upon the type of tree.
Vertical photograph; click to see the full strike and whole tree (or what's left of it).

I drove all day from Death Valley to Monument Valley chasing storms in fall of 2021. Got completely skunked, lightning-wise, but at the very last minute the sun broke through the clouds for about 5 minutes before setting and threw the towers into this stunning alpenglow, with a little rainbow on the far left.

When yβall argue to abolish copyright so you can use other peopleβs photos, be aware that you are arenβt sticking it to corporations. Youβre mostly sticking it indie artists who barely make rent.
Photographers, on average, make about $18/hr. Thatβs about half the rate of a high school teacher. Asking them to give up rights to their work is not a great look.
i wouldn't say this is my most exciting picture in the world, no cute birds or anything, but i really like it as a desktop wallpaper. i mean its what my current wallpaper is lol. i put it up on ko-fi as a pay-what-you-want download. it's yours to have for whatever price you want! i'm currently unemployed so would love to make a little money from my photographs but only if you have the means, you downloading it at all would mean a lot to me

Picked up a Fuji X-Pro1 11 years ago while I was still using mostly Canon. Today I have a whole family of X-trans sensor Fujis (and one of these is my daughter's camera, with another in "joint custody mode" between the two of us).
More than happy with this camera and sensor system. So happy I started to box up my final Canon lenses for sale today.

This is the best photo of magnetic core memory I've ever taken. IBM, early 60s. Shot with a microscope lens mounted on a 35mm B&W digital camera. No post! (I got into the habit of never doing any post-processing while documenting historic artifacts for the museum. Photoshop not allowed!) #retrocomputing #photography #rcsri
I used this shot for the cover of my book of images from our museum:
Finally got around to posting my full album of our visit to Yosemite National Park in *ahem* May 2019. I sure took my time. π

This lighthouse is SO UNIQUE! It's called ΓrΓdrangar, which means "three rock pillars". It is located 4.5 miles (7.2 kilometres) off the southwest coast of Iceland, in the archipelago of Vestmannaeyjar, often described as the most isolated lighthouse in the world. The lighthouse was built there in 1939.
It's such a INCREDIBLE location for a lighthouse, perched on a rock in Iceland's wild surf. Originally constructed and accessible only by scaling the rock on which it is situated, it is now accessible by helicopter since the construction of a helipad.

Kamoinge is a group of black Photographers who formed in 1963.
Their mission statement: "Honour, document, preserve, & represent the history & culture of the African Diaspora with integrity & respect for humanity through the lens of Black Photographers"
This wonderful work is important to counterbalance the whitewashing of #History by mainly white, middle-class historians/reporters throughout time.

The Hands of Miles Davis photographed by Irving Penn in 1986.
This is one of my favorite pictures. It feels like it was taken yesterday⦠but it was taken in a Paris public garden nearly a hundred years ago. Everything feels modern: the composition, the casualness, the daring clothes, haircuts, and accessories.
The colors are original: this is an #autochrome, using the first process for color #photography invented by the Lumière brothers in 1903.
The women are unknown, but I can't help wondering how they fared a few years later in nazi-occupied Paris.
