I personally believe that the age limit on being able to run for office should end at age 65, maybe 70 if pushing it, but nobody should be closer to 80, or 77 or whatever, closer to death at any point in those years and have political power. This isn't about #Republican or #Democrat, this is about people being able to live long enough to see how there laws affect other people who are younger, and people who are in there 80's who could die if the wind blows the wrong way shouldn't be allowed to hold power. If you can't stay for dinner, you shouldn't be invited to the table. #USPol

Chat Control is one of the most important issue for human rights and democracy in the West right now.

There is little time left to fight back!🚨

❓If you don't know what it is: read this article

🇪🇺 If you are in the EU: Contact your MEPs NOW

🇪🇺 If you already contacted your MEPs: Contact your local media TODAY to ask them to report and inform on the dangers of Chat Control.

🌎 If you are not European: Spread the word! Talk about it on social media. Contact your local media. Contact your representatives to share your concerns about similar proposals and the loss of privacy rights. This would affect you too!

This is an urgent matter. We cannot let the West slip in this authoritarian dystopia.
We must stop Chat Control ✊🛑

For residents of the U.S., health insurance open enrollment is beginning.

Good time for a reminder that, if you have the option of enrolling in a high deductible health plan, those policies come with Health Savings Accounts (HSA).

"HSA contributions, unlike other tax-advantaged investment vehicles, offer a triple tax benefit – tax-deductible contributions, tax-free growth, and tax-free withdrawals for qualified medical expenses."

How's all that self-interest working out for all the tech companies? Dictators are gonna dictate. It's not like he didn't tell you who he was. Project 2025 was the real goal. They don't want anyone but white people to have the privilege of getting jobs. Everything else is nothing but excess.

Is anyone making a list of companies that have fired people for quoting Charlie Kirk’s views?

Seems like a list of companies that support fascism and free speech only when it’s in support of fascism should be well known to all.

I know it’s just a social media post, but I stand with my colleagues and the students at America’s HBCUs.

It’s a short hop from radical anti-intellectualism to outright racism, and we’ve experienced these headwinds before.

But the work to build America’s pluralist democracy will not be halted by this kind of cowardice.

I lost my Mom to pancreatic cancer when I was 19. She was only 47.

My grandmother also died from it at 53.

When Mom was diagnosed, she sat me down and said she knew exactly what I was feeling because she felt the same way when her Mom was dying.

She said she hated knowing that her girls were going to grow up without a mom.

She wasn’t afraid of dying, but she was afraid of leaving us behind.

She was sad that she would miss major milestones like graduations, marriage, grandchildren etc.

She wanted more time.

Unfortunately pancreatic cancer is quick and lethal.

It’s almost always caught too late, and few people live more than a year after diagnosis.

My Mom made it nine months.

I’m forever grateful for the time we had together and the fact that she prepared me for her passing. But I wanted more

The mRNA pancreatic cancer vaccine was a beacon of hope for my family.

It was hope for so many whose lives have been touched by this deadly disease. Who’ve lost loved ones.

Who live with the fear of being diagnosed themselves.

There’s no words for the rage I feel when I think about RFK Jr’s decision to cut funding for this life saving research.

His anti-vaxx grift has already killed and disabled many people. Measles is back. Covid is still here and still killing.

Now he’s basically siding with cancer.

We deserve better than this.

We deserve an HHS leader who actually believes in science.

We deserve leaders who promote life saving interventions, robust public health and cutting edge research.

Shame on him and everyone who supports him.

MAHA just announced that states will be able to prohibit people from purchasing junk food with SNAP.

They claim this will make people healthier.

That it’ll force them to make better choices. It won’t.

Why? They aren’t addressing the privilege involved with healthy eating

I’m all for a healthy diet. I only consume whole and unprocessed foods myself, and even did a year as a raw vegan to try and reduce my overall inflammation.

It was an eye opening experience that I was only able to do because of my privilege.

In a perfect world, we would all be eating the healthiest and most nutrient dense food available.

But we don’t live in a perfect world.

Whole foods are more expensive, take longer to prepare and require more effort than “junk food”

People who are disabled, elderly, living in poverty and/or food deserts sometimes have no other choice.

Fed is better than dead.

This latest restriction will result in people going hungry. Kids starving because their parents can’t make them a healthy meal.

You can’t cut off an entire category of food without addressing the various systemic barriers to healthy eating.

There needs to be a plan to lower the cost of fresh whole foods. They need to be made more available, cheaper and in easy to prepare options.

People need a basic living wage to ensure they have the time to shop, prep and cook.

If you’re working two full time jobs just to survive; you can’t possibly be cooking from scratch every day.

Even if all those goals were accomplished, there are still people who rely on junk food for survival.

There are still people who may want it as an occasional treat.

Banning it altogether sends a message that poor & disabled people don’t “deserve” treats.

This isn’t about making people healthier. It’s about blaming them for their illnesses.

If we blame diet and lifestyle, we can feel better about not treating people when they get sick.

It’s eugenics and it’s on full display.

There are so many better ways to encourage people to eat healthier.

We should have universal healthcare, a basic income, childcare and affordable housing.

If basic needs are met, healthy living becomes much easier.

Finally, disability is no one’s fault.

Healthy living can help, but you can’t wellness your way out of chronic illness.

It doesn’t work that way, and the only reason to convince people otherwise is a desire to label disabled people expendable.

We are not expendable.

We need urgent community action to stop this incredibly ableist plan from moving forward.

The DOE has ruled that new federal buildings don’t have to meet accessibility standards.

That will mean many disabled people won’t be able to work in or access these places.

They’re literally excluding us from as many facets of life as possible, because they have a eugenics plan.

Call, email, speak out!

Accessibility is not a “nice to have”. It’s a legal right. It’s necessary for our survival.

Today I invited a couple friends to the #NoKings protest this Saturday, and they were more open to it than I thought. (Not my most political friends.) Turning out lots of folks who don't usually protest would be amazing. I hope Saturday is the day many people wake up and realize the resisting this administration is not fringe, it's what most Americans want.

If you're in the USA, I hope you'll join us!

Someone captured the moment an Australian reporter was shot by a rubber bullet at the anti-ICE protests in LA.

It’s wildly concerning that a country which prides itself on freedom of the press is now shooting at journalists.

Also, watch closely. She was away from the crowds. She was clearly reporting and no threat to anyone.

Yet the agent took direct aim & shot.

This is enraging. This is state sanctioned violence. This is an attack on the press. An attempt to silence.

Keep speaking out.

I'm not about to turn this account into US political drama posting full time, but I'd like to take a moment to talk about the Linsdey Graham tweet about the Gaza flotilla and anti-genocide activist Greta Thunberg. If you haven't seen it, there's a screenshot in the Zeteo article below, but the short story is that Graham posted or quoted an image of Thunberg on the deck of a flotilla vessel, and wrote over top "hope Greta and her friends can swim."

Graham's behavior is of course disgusting and condemnable on its face. I want to talk about it today however because I think if you take the Senator from South Carolina's post in the proper context, it reveals quite a lot about where the US government, buttressed by a pro-genocide corporate media, stands in contrast to the rest of the world on the subject of Israel's genocide in Gaza.

Lindsey Graham's Disgusting Tweet About Greta Thunberg Is 'Brain Rot' in Its Truest, Most Vulgar Sense

zeteo.com/p/lindsey-grahams-di…

"The warped logic, wildly insulting to the intelligence or basic morals of the Americans he serves, is one thing. As with their comical hypocrisy, the refrain about the modern Republican Party that “the cruelty is the point” is baked into US politics. But the extent to which these threads undergirding American conservatism are put into total overdrive when it comes to Israel is jarring to any observer.

Because, to be clear: Graham, a US senator, paid by our taxes, is apparently calling for a government that’s killed at least 54,000 (and likely, far more) Palestinians to bomb a boat carrying food to a starving population (or, if I’m being incredibly generous, he is just hoping the ship sinks). It’d be one thing if Graham was operating in the already-broken framework of the draconianism we’re used to: egging on the detaining of protesters and cheering for the bombing of Gaza under the auspices of “eliminating Hamas.”

Think how far we’ve come: pointing out Israel’s bombing of humanitarians was a “blood libel.” Now, it’s a punchline.

Here, we reach the endpoint of it all: a Republican, sealed off in his grotesque, hermetically-sealed bubble, finding it not only appropriate, but actively helpful in his (and his Israeli friends’) PR crusade to buoyantly rejoice at the idea of 12 volunteers – including a young college-aged person – being bombed, and left to tread in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea."

There's honestly so much going on here that you could write a whole book about this tweet, and the political moment in America that produced it. There are literal layers of grotesque inhumanity behind a US Senator cheerfully wishing death on a world famous activist and her friends for the high crime of trying to feed people we're helping to starve out of existence. Graham's callous, if not gleeful disregard for human life speaks to a modern, cultishly-devoted to Trump Republican Party whose broader motto might as well be "we're for killing and starving people" at this point; a sentiment their voters seem to embrace so long as the leopards aren't eating *their* faces.

If you know that the previous flotilla food aid attempt involving Thunberg was unable to reach Gaza after being struck by weaponized drones widely-believed to be Israeli in origin, then Graham's tweet reads like an open threat by a US Senator on behalf of a foreign government conducting a genocide we're paying for; which at almost any other point in American history would be earth-shaking news, but passes more or less for business as usual in the American pro-genocide reality bubble. This would be appalling under any circumstances, but for Graham to post this at the very same time the US government under Trump is pretending it is forcing Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, while openly concentrating starving Palestinians into corrals for the IOF to shoot at, is next-level Third Reich-type shit; and the whole world knows it.

Which then brings us back to the larger point about Israel's genocide in Gaza, and failing international support for the Netanyahu regime and an IOF committing open war crimes and mass murder. At the precise time that the entire international order except the United States is running away from their prior support for Israel's genocidal actions because starving children to death on livestream is extremely unpopular, the United States is accelerating the body count and a US Senator is openly threatening a European peace activist on behalf of our openly eliminationist ally, for the high crime of attempting to feed starving people our govt would clearly prefer dead. The Trump regime and the broader pro-genocide establishment in America are out of step with the rest of the Pig Empire, and out of touch with reality; Israel isn't the only country flirting with pariah state status as the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza continues to unfold.

When I had my hysterectomy, I was told recovery would be quick because I was young, fit & otherwise healthy.

They were wrong. The surgeon made an error and despite signs of post op bleeding, discharged me & went on vacation.

When I returned to the ER, I was ignored & gaslit

They told me it was “normal” to be in more pain 8 days after surgery than on day 1 (it’s not).

They said “what do you want us to do?”

They refused to run any tests beyond basic vitals, and scolded me for wasting their time

I knew something was wrong, but I was young and hadn’t yet learned how to advocate for myself.

The pain, swelling and bruising were getting worse with each passing day. I was dizzy, listless and had no appetite.

I slept ALL the time.

I was not getting better

I did what anyone would do, I went back to the ER. Surely this time they would take me seriously?

They didn’t. They made no attempt to hide their frustration that I had returned”. They made misogynistic comments about how “sensitive” I was & that being in pain was normal

I went home feeling completely dejected and disrespected, but also starting to gaslight myself.

Maybe it wasn’t that bad. Maybe this was normal pain. Maybe I did need to suck it up.

I tried to force myself to eat and go for light walks. I tried to play through the pain.

I was vomiting everything up and frequently collapsing from fatigue.

I could not suck this up.

My boyfriend had to carry me into the ER for a third attempt to get help

They did the exact same thing. Asked what we expected them to do. Told us the pain was normal. Refused to call a consult or run tests.

Thankfully my boyfriend believed me over them. He was certain if I went home, I wouldn’t make it through the night

He refused to let them discharge me. He told them, loudly and sternly, that he was not taking me home to die. That they needed to do their jobs.

They threatened to call security but he did not back down.

Thankfully a doctor overheard him and decided to look in and see if he could calm the situation.

When he saw me, half unconscious and white as a ghost, he immediately ordered tests. He told the triage staff not to call security and to take me into a private room

It turns out my boyfriend was right. Had I gone home that night, I wouldn’t have made it to morning.

I had a massive internal bleed and a giant infected abscess which had been growing since the surgeon sent me home.

I was rushed to another hospital for emergency surgery and given 50/50 odds of survival. I spent over a month in the hospital, developed a second hospital acquired infection, and needed 11 months to fully recover.

I survived due to luck & privilege. Had my boyfriend not believed me, I wouldn’t be here. Had he not been a white man? He likely would have been removed & I would have died

This is medical misogyny. They didn’t listen because I was a woman. They thought I was being dramatic

I tell this story because of what happened to Adriana Smith. A young black woman in Georgia who tried to get medical care for severe headaches, and was dismissed and gaslit instead.

She suffered brain death at home because no one believed her. Because of misogynoir.

To make matters worse, she’s been turned into a medical experiment because she was nine weeks pregnant and living in a state with an abortion ban. She’s on organ & tissue support being treated as a human incubator.

No care when alive & forced “care” when dead

Misogyny in medicine kills. It maims. It disables and traumatizes.

Women are frequently treated as hysterical and not given the medical care they require.

We often need a man to accompany us just to be taken seriously.

It’s not right and it needs to change

I will forever deal with medical PTSD because of what I went through, but at least I survived.

Adriana wasn’t so lucky, and no one’s survival should ever be based on luck, privilege or their ability to find a man to speak for them

I survived due to luck and privilege, Adriana didn’t.

What’s worse, due to abortion bans and dangerous forced birth policies, her body is kept alive on organ and tissue support without her family’s consent.

We must do better:
