this is modern life, where you have to wrestle with everything that's yours to keep it doing what you want, not what someone else wants. I think it's very telling that of the top three reasons given by users of A.I. for why they use A.I. to make art — it's faster, it's cheaper, and it lets me do alone what used to require a team of people — literally none of them have anything to do with actually making better art. Hi everyone, I'm on a project, and I've got some queries about #ScreenReaders and symbols. This will also be helpful for me in general.
1. When using a screen reader to read something like this: ... two white spheres (hydrogen) ... will it read 'two white spheres open bracket hydrogen close bracket?
2. When reading H2O (with the 2 as subscript), will it read H subscript 2 O?
3. Finally, with δ (which I think is delta), accompanied by a superscript plus after it, will it simply read delta superscript plus sign?
That highly depends on user's particular settings. For instance, I'm a developer and I use very fast, but very robotic TTS with poor intonation, it suits my pace and habits. So for me, yes, it would read everything. Not sure about the subscripts though, probably not. but what you can do is to spend more time and process this by some tool that would interpret LaTex and output MathML or MathJax. That way at least some screen readers would interpret it as mathematical notation. #Accessibility
Thanks to a conversation on the A11y Slack, I ran desktop browsers and screen readers through a test to see how they announce content marked up as superscript and subscript.
@menelion Thanks for this. It’s becoming clear that each user has different settings, which may be impossible to catch all. I’m certainly not a developer, but thinking of how to advise a publisher that’s creating online materials with alt-text.
do your best. Put brackets when they are needed, subscripts and superscripts also, as well as all other stuff. Don't describe in words, that's the worst thing you can do 😊

It's eSIM management support rather than simply eSIM support. We plan to rename the toggle for clarity. eSIMs will work with it disabled but you won't be able to manage them for the most part. We recommend leaving it enabled if you use eSIMs although you can disable it and continue using them.
In cmd.exe with NVDA, if a line is too long, NVDA can't properly review it. For instance, I just typed:
glab mr create -s=staging -b=master -t="a title that's kind of long, but really not that long (issue 1234)"
When I up arrowed and tried to edit, NVDA read spaces for some characters, and for the rest, it read characters from elsewhere in the line instead of the characters I was actually on. Is this a known problem? CC @NVAccess
@BorrisInABox I honestly don't remember if it happened on Windows 10. I'm on 11. I also don't know if it happens while you're editing the line. I mostly run into it when I type a long-ish command, hit enter, get an error, and try to up arrow to change it.
Yeah, that's what I did, of course I don't have that command, but I was able to arrow through the line, use review commands, etc. without issue, other than it started at the end of the line, which was expected.
All fixed! Yay! Now when British folks update their drivers from the add-on, or grab the latest release from the page, they will get a nice, deeper, non-australian R. The other R is kept around if we ever wanted Australian, it's a good candidate, but not now and not for UK.
