Hey folks, so I’ve put it off as long as I could, but, sadly, my main machine is dying, so I need to raise some funds to replace it and some other old ass electronics that are on their last legs.
I tend to buy all refurbished stuff and it’s been a minute since I’ve upgraded my gear (I can’t install the latest anything on my current set up. Yeah, that OLD), so I can get what I need for around 3k.
The easiest way to contribute is to use the long term GoFundMe I have or my Kofi to make one offs. Either one is cool. I know most folks don’t like Paypal for obvious reasons, but if you want to use that, just send me a DM and I’ll give you that info.
In any event, thanks in advance for the help so I can continue development on my projects and working with others to push this independent social media thing forward.
It’s an exciting time in social media right now and I’m itching to do more, so it would be nice to have a computer that works when I need it to LOL!
After one solid day, the Help Ro Replace His Old Ass Electronics Fund is at $1005.78/$3000, which is a fantastic start.
A big shout out to everyone that has not only given, but also left some very kind words of encouragement and affirmation. Those small acts of kindness mean a lot to me.
Let’s keep it going. There’s a good chance we can knock this out this week, so I can get some new stuff and keep pushing #fipamo and #thebadspace forward, as well as some other tidbits I can't talk about publicly just yet.
LET'S GET THIS DONE!
The pace slowed on day two, but some contributions were received from some kind souls, so the Help Ro Get New Gear Before His Stuff Dies Fund (yes, I’m changing the name everyday lol) currently stands at $1096/$3000.
I still feel optimistic about getting this taken care of this week because of all the boosts and contribution this has gotten in the last couple of days, so thanks to everyone who shared this everywhere.
As much as I like to believe I can duct tape stuff together to keep working, it’s just come to a point where I need to get my hands on new equipment to continue doing what I do.
I’m a bit bummed this is happening when I decide to rebuild both of my projects in Rust because I’m on such a good pace, but I’m past due for an upgrade, so here we are.
In any event, the support received so far has been very encouraging, ha, which only makes me want to push harder.
And we’re just a little over a third of the way there, which I have to admit is pretty exciting after a couple of days.
So let’s keep pushing this thing forward and it’ll knocked out in no time.
Thanks, y’all.
ps. When the goal is hit, there will be a memorial service for my old stuff. Ha, it’s been good to me all these years, so I want to give them a proper send off. I’ll post a vid of the affair.

Hey, you like samples? Here's a free (well, pay-what-you-want) small pack I made a few years ago that'll let you infuse a little Ether vibe into your work!
etherdiver.gumroad.com/l/IdpCA…
If you want to throw me a few $$$ for this, use my ko-fi to pay (ko-fi.com/etherdiver), not gumroad. Their payout system sucks. Just DL the pack for free from Gumroad and then ko-fi me a few $$$ if you want to.
A sampling of the sample library of the Ether Diver. No melodies, no drum loops and very few recognizable tones, but plenty of grit, distortion, saturation and glitch. Uncomfortable atmospheres, grinding buzzes and otherworldly weirdness to spare.Gumroad
"It might not be long before you look up and see a fiery, slow-moving object streaking across your night sky and, clearly, breaking into pieces. That’s if you haven’t seen such a thing already. There are currently one to two Starlink satellites falling back to Earth every day, according to retired Harvard astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell. His acclaimed website Jonathan’s Space Report is widely regarded as the definitive source on spacecraft that go up … and come down. When we asked him about the deluge of Starlink satellite breakups that have recently been flooding social media, he pointed us to his graph showing Starlink reentries over time.
There are more than 8,000 Starlink satellites overhead at this moment. They’re a product of the space transportation company SpaceX. And that number is growing. Plus there are other companies and countries also deploying more and more satellites, adding to the number of satellites in Earth orbit. Many of these are in low-Earth orbits, which extend up to an altitude of 1,200 miles (2,000 km) above our planet. And the lifespan of low-Earth orbit satellites, such as Starlink, is only about 5 to 7 years. Soon, McDowell told us, there will be up to 5 satellite reentries per day."

Help us get through these difficult days
We never imagined to live tough days like these days. We never imagined to lose our home and live in a tent. We never imagined to live all the day trying only to survive. We never imagined to ask for help. Asking for help is the most difficult thing I ever lived, but I have no options.
In the previous four months, your donations made a real difference to our life.
We still need your help. Please donate and share 🙏❤️

my mother died four years ago, and her cel phone has been sitting, locked, on my dresser ever since. i made four bad pin attempts at it years ago then decided not to push my luck any further.
this morning, while making coffee, it suddenly dawned on me what it would be and, behold, it was.
here is the lesson: write down your important passwords. put them in a sealed envelope and give them to someone you trust, or the executor of your will or your lawyer. do it today.
If any developer of any software I use to write/review code announced they were going to put logic in that software to extract/send/train on my code - **even if it was opt-in/disabled by default** - that software would be uninstalled and that developer blacklisted from any system I had any control over for the rest of time.
Without hesitation or delay. Even with the best of intentions and security practice I could simply never trust that piece of software again.

Hello Masto-peeps who use screen readers!
I just learned that I need to put alt text on URLs for more accessible PDFs, but -- what should it say?
I am formatting academic citations that include a URL, so all the information about where that link will take you is in the text. I don't want it to read the URL to you and I don't want to just repeat the same information you just heard. What do you find most helpful in this situation?
Pls boost for reach!

And of course the Section 508 website is not helpful. Sigh.
