I added a new CI check to Drum Machine, it now automatically checks if the .pot translation template file is up to date. If I forget to regenerate it after adding/changing translatable strings (which I usually do), it reminds me :D

If I had known in August 2024 what I know now, I would've bought my Roland SC-8820 before, not instead of, the SC-88ST Pro. While it's not 100% compatible with earlier Sound Canvases, I've found that the SC-8820 makes up for it by being more reliable. The ST Pro is great, but I find I run into more odd issues with it, such as MIDI settings not being transmitted properly, which happens less often and is easier to resolve with the 8820.
If you've wondered how Android developer verification affects Accrescent, today we have a new blog post explaining briefly what it is, how it impacts us, and how we're responding.
Google recently announced that starting next year, Android will require all apps to be registered by verified developers for users to install them on their devices, i.e.
"We also plan to continue allowing developers to submit apps to Accrescent without registering their apps through Android developer verification"
From what we've seen, those apps would not be installable on Android, but only AOSP ROMs that remove the new restrictions. Did Google provide anything concrete that lets Accrescent install "unverified" apps on Android devices? We've only heard vague promises.
@eighthave Google has recently stated on the Android developers blog that they are working on allowing "experienced users" to install unregistered apps. But we plan to allow unregistered apps to be published regardless of whether that feature applies to Accrescent. If it doesn't, then yes, unregistered apps wouldn't be installable on certified Android devices.
I don't think Google will just acquiesce and implement it that way. We need to keep the pressure on them to ensure it actually happens in a way where Free Software and app stores like ours can continue to function how we except them to.
Hey, I have noticed that updates in Accrescent might have a bug. Because I was asked a few times to update cake wallet to 5.6.0 even tho I already had it updated. I hope that can be fixed.
Trough Accrescent as I mentioned. It does not show anymore since last time but I don't know if this bug could happen again with other app updates in the future.
@anton_kaminsky Accrescent has been developed mostly in unpaid developers' free time for most of its existence, so it hasn't had the time to mature enough for us to be comfortable allowing a large number of apps to be submitted. We don't want app developers to encounter too many issues. We artificially limit submissions right now for this reason, though developers frequently request submission access.
We recently received enough funding to sponsor a full-time developer though and have been making more extensive development progress in the last few months as a result.

My work on JJ flex radio continues. We think we have fixed a lot of the connectivity problems faced in versions that I wasn't involved with. Individualswho have working Flex radios are having problems remotely connecting to the flex produced software. More to come, but if we get it all working, I might just get me one of these modern marvels. Before, previous versions did not skupport newer versions. Since getting the sourceq from JJ's son, I've made amazing progress.
I wonder if I can convince my parents to let me string up an end-fed dipole or something, so I can use junk remotely. HF here is annoying. Not that I can afford a multi-thousand dollar radio, but...
@BorrisInABox It wouldn't have to be much. i get it about multi thousand dollar radios. I was either going to get an expensive Kenwood and now possibly a flex. That dual receiver noise cancellation thing is neat. Basically you have two antennas, one that's your daily driver and one like a wire. It listens to noise on the more inferior antenna and that noise basically goes away.
I'm thinking about buying just a stupid little QRP something to play with when I go down there in a few weeks. There's this Chinese radio for $200 that puts out a few watts and doesn't completely suck... but the fun part is convincing them to let me run wires in trees. I guess I could do the whole semi-portable vertical and tripod thing.

to my #Blind friends, anyone has an experience with Logitech MX keys mini? is the software to customize settings accessible? i have to buy this keyboard because the down arrow on my laptop decided that he does not want to stay with it anymore. sadly, if you're a screen reader user, losing one key means losing all control.
I have one of these. I generally like the keyboard itself. The software is typical Logitech trash. Huge, bloated, and not really accessible, but works, kind of. Fortunately, it's not something I usually need. I used it to turn the backlight down, which you can also do from the keyboard, but the setting isn't remembered the next time you turn it on if you don't do it from the software.
@BorrisInABox yes, this is my concern because i've read that if you turn the light off, batteries can last much longer. and, can you customize the key to the left of the left arrow to become applications key?
The MX Keys Mini? Na it's like a good Laptop keyboard. There is a MX Keys Mechanical but I don't have it. The normal MX Keys Mini is uh, solid plastic I guess.
@Rooktallon seen that brand also. but i'm looking for a keyboard that's maybe 12 inches in size and that keys are not cramped because i have fat fingers, and also, i want a keyboard that's normal, i mean not those with wierd key layouts. is keychron like that?
You can get a 100% keyboard from them, yeah. They're known for metal, swappable switches, and easy repairs if needed. They even give you the tools just in case you need to replace a switch if a key stops working.

@Rooktallon I have a Keychron Q6 Max and my keys started double registering. Yes the keyboards are generally great and good quality, but it's something to note. You might run into that and it depends if you want to trouble shoot that kind of stuff or can live with it.
@Rooktallon I haven't looked that much into the Keychron V2 Pro but it seems cheaper than the MX Keys. I'd probably give it a go, seems nice for what it is. But I haven't made that awesome experiences with the Keychron launcher thing and no idea whether it supports QMK and stuff. So can't really comment on that.
@jonathan859 I'm not trying to sway you any particular way but I will say that every single Logitech keyboard Ihad has gone dead after a year and I'm not a hard typer smashing every key down like it owes me money. Even with my gentle hands, they die within a year and I have to get a new one.
@Rooktallon I used some weird Logitech keyboard from my brother for years, and he did before as well probably. It was ugly, both control key caps broke off, and these stupid things aren't hotswappable sadly, when I got the Keychron I finally felt what a good mechanical keyboard means. But na the Logitech things life long in my experience. The question is whether you want to use them in the state they get into at some point. But tbf I only had one of their keyboards, well and the MX Keys Mini so...
My brother has the q6max and I've gotten to use it. It's very reliable and for me, a very good typing experience. He just popped off the keycap and replaced a broken switch when needed because a key stopped working. They give you the tools to do it yourself and it's fairly easy.
Haha of all the streaming services, all of them, it is the most consistently good, with the best AD, and doesn't miss an episode. Apparently they even do AD in different languages. top-tier honestly. Better than most others.
I don't even mean you should only like "good" art. I just mean we should expect human intention in all the media we interact with, & we should give no attention to the artifacts of soullessly produced "content".
If I can't see a person behind the art, I don't even know why I care. It's fascinating to watch a person make music. It's fascinating even simply listening to a recording of them. Somehow, in some way, that person is sharing something.
I love animation because in some ways it's the best way to see animators just throwing in whatever touches they felt were right, putting a little bit of themselves in there, even if "just" doing backgrounds or something like that.
