"Generally, I don’t think rich people believe anything besides: 1. they are basically good; 2. they deserve their money and no one should take it; and 3. anything that threatens ideas 1. and 2. is bad. Everything else is pretty flexible."

Bit more attention now in the press to ‘spay clause’ 104 in the Online Safety Bill. This is what we are sounding a ‘red alert’ over. Index on Censorship acquired a legal opinion by Matrix Chambers saying it would contravene two articles in ECHR. Building on @openright aanyalsis and briefing. If you are in the UK take action and start causing a fuss. inews.co.uk/news/politics/onli…

We are the front line of a global war on encryption. If we can’t fend off this sort of mass surveillance in a liberal democracy then all of humanity gets put in a darker path towards authoritarianism - look at people fighting against surveillance states in China and Hong Kong to see where this goes! #onlinesafetybill #privacy #clause104 come on fellow Brits. As the fediverse grows it becomes more difficult for new #fedi projects to get the attention they deserve.

That's why we started fediverse.info and fedidb.org, as well as use our following to boost and bring attention to new projects (DM us).

We feel obligated to do this because we know how hard it is for new projects and established developer egos.

We're all in this together, let's support each other ❤️

🔥 HTMHell Advent 2022 Day 2: You Don't Need ARIA For That 🔥

a sad story with happy ending:
back in 1995, in the netscape days, there was this little site called Betrayal at Krondor Help Web. some icelandic guy did the thankless job of mapping every treasure chest, enemy, dirt pile, maze, and moredhel chest puzzle solution. i visited and used it for decades.

Professor Eysteinn Björnsson updated that #retrogaming site for 25 years, until he unexpectedly died in 2021. i am honoured to now host it in his memory in perpetuity at dimwood.net

We live in incredible times.
Humans can do incredible things.

We can, for example, watch "Artemis I Close Flyby of the Moon" live on YouTube

It shouldn't be so hard to reimagine our social and economic structure to ensure our survival.

People, stop saying "just self publish" when writers share their stress about querying. They know self-publishing exists. They've chosen to query agents/publishers for a reason. Self-publishing is difficult and expensive; you are starting your own business if you choose to go that route. Not everyone wants to, has the capacity to, or can afford it. #Writing #Publishing

Someone please convince me how JAWS Connect isn’t akin to screen reader detection? If you inject a link in to a page on load based on JAWS usage and nag folks with specific messaging, how is this not targeting a subset of users based on their assistive technology? It’s one thing to provide a feedback mechanism for folks visiting your site. It’s something else when you inject a link that doesn’t appear in the tab order and is based on specific screen reader use.

Appeareance of images attached to a post

Hello @Friendica Developers @Friendica Support @friendica-dev.mbbit.de/profile… Hello dear community, I would like to discuss with you about the appearance of posts with multiple images on #Friedica. Here is my opinion:
The current way multiple #images are displayed is awful:

Yeah, you saw it by my embedded examples your self. What bothers me most is:

  • It just looks messy (especially when there is a mix of landscape and portrait format)
  • Besides the aesthetics, multiple images take a lot of room (when you do not use an add-on like show more)

My suggestion on which I would love to hear your opinion is to use a grid format like on #mastodon:

I would pitch a suggestion by adding a PR for a (from my point of view) "better" appearance based to this
tutorial. I do not like to use JS in general and would leave it out by determine the suited amount of columns in the backend.

But before I invest time on that, I want to hear your feedback. Thank You!

Love this view of Organizational Debt

What is the minimum viable constraint on a complex system that allows the good stuff to emerge, and where are you over constrained and servicing constraints?

Kyle Rankin (@kyle), President of Purism, talks to CNBC about how Librem 5 USA📱 is built mindfully towards a secure supply chain. “At Purism we think data is uranium, so we treat it like a radioactive substance where we collect as little of it as humanly possible. Every extra link you add to the supply chain is an extra opportunity for someone to inject themselves in that supply chain and tamper with things.” Get the full context ➡️ puri.sm/posts/how-purism-is-ad…
