Lynn Conway, computer hardware pioneer (and genius) has passed away. None of her obits do justice to her accomplishments, so here's wikipedia:

She pioneered asyncronous execution, VLSI circuit design, and practically the whole modern field of chip design.

She was also a trans woman who -- having been unfairly terminated by IBM -- never stopped fighting for the rights of trans people.

@PepperTheVixen Oh I think for sure more the first one. It's symbolic in that as Apple adds other 3rd-party AI engines, they'll have access to a lot of personal data (and that personal data getting sent outside of the garden, and information getting back into it.) The other part is how they license OpenAI, which is more of a financial and data advantage to OpenAI, as a certain number of users will have history / training enabled if they sign into an account that didn't disable this

@libreoffice, at libreoffice.org/download/porta… you suggest downloading “LibreOffice 24.2.3 Portable MultilingualStandard”, but when I try to do this I get a notification about an untrusted secure connection certificate on the rbc.ru website : "Secure Site Not Available. You've enabled HTTPS-Only Mode for enhanced security, and a HTTPS version of libreoffice-mirror.rbc.ru is not available." You should be more careful when choosing partners from Russia.

Sperriger Name aber großartige App!

Mit "Itinerary" plant man entspannt seine nächste Reise, beispielsweise mit dem ÖPNV. Start und Ziel setzen. Verbindung heraussuchen. Deutschlandticket hinterlegen. Los geht's!

Besonders gut gefällt mir die Bahnhofs-Karte, auf der die Gleise, Zuwege und Shopinfos übersichtlich dargestellt werden. Auch der Ladebalken für den aktuellen Zug ist sehr gelungen.

With iOS 18, the Phone app has been upgraded in a few different ways.
T9 dialling is the most obvious new feature, and its addition will please many iPhone users are have been accustomed to having that feature on their previous Android handsets.
To use T9 dialling on iOS 18, simply go to the Keypad in the Phone app. Dial in the numbers corresponding to the first few letters of the person’s name you wish to call. Each number button represents three or four letters, so just press the relevant number.
iOS will automatically filter the address book to find possible matches. The matching person’s name and number will appear at the top of the screen. Tap on the name to confirm and initiate the call.

We have support for manual merges. The detection is still not perfect, but works in most cases, and you can always provide the commit id that merged a PR instead of pressing the merge button if it failed for some reason.

The option is "Enable autodetect manual merge (Note: In some special cases, misjudgments can occur)" in the Pull requests repo settings.

Great news for Gnome-Mobile users on postmarketOS. Now you can trigger the keyboard with a double tap on the bottom bar. You can type in Qt or other apps that don't trigger the keyboard automatically. Thank you @verdre !
