This case isn't even about using political power to stop fascism, it's a clear cut situation of providing debt relief for folks being ground up by the student loan industry. If fascist judges are prepared to interfere with regular policy issues and block milquetoast presidential initiatives, you can sure as shit bet they're going to do the same thing about any political efforts to stop the fascist takeover of our society. Whether you're for taking to the streets, or you believe in stopping fascism at the ballot box, it's 100% clear to me that we're not going anywhere good as a country so long as these corrupt, be-robed nazis are running Bartertown.
There's more than one way to reform the American federal court system, and I don't have all the answers for you. It's entirely possible the Biden administration can keep working around these rulings for a little while to continue offering student loan debt relief to millions of Americans victimized by the student loan industry. What I do know however is that sooner or later the political issues raised by the fascist takeover of our courts will come to a head, and by hook, or by crook, we need to find a way to shatter the power of corrupt judges who're now running the country for their reactionary corporate donors; rich donors and corpos who clearly support the larger fascist project, might I add. Ignoring this reality is a nonstarter - both politically, and in our greater society.

I guess a screen reader or TTS engine *could* just replace those characters with their ASCII equivalents. I'm actually kind of surprised that the NVDA developers, usually quite pragmatic and (at least some of them) blind users themselves, haven't done this.
Both NVDA with the Windows OneCore David voice (the default for new NVDA installs) and Windows 11 Narrator with one of the newer natural voices read it as "back hand index pointing right Pod back hand index pointing left".
i feel like the pronouncing it as if it were a letter should only be done IF the reader knew it was in a prose context and not a math context. You wouldn't want it making the plosive t sound when reading a math equation.

IIRC, TalkBack started treating math symbols as letters a couple versions ago because of their misuse on social media. Which has left the blind mathematics community annoyed.
@aardrian Given the commonness of online abuses of those symbols compared to proper use for mathematics, I think TalkBack made the right pragmatic choice. And even in the altter case, how important is it to know that it's the bold mathematical x as opposed to just x? The extra info could be exposed through the screen reader's feature for reading text attributes, as if the text had been bolded through an HTML tag or the like.
@aardrian Assistive technology developers, and I am one, must always remember that the goal is to provide access to the world as it is, not wait for it to become what we wish it was.

В Интернете регулярно появляются посты и комментарии о том, что #опросы показывают поддержку россиянами Путина и войны, и даже её рост на фоне санкций. Как человек, лично проводивший сквозные #соцопросы по телефону, — да-да, я тот самый персонаж, который «У вас не найдётся пять минут…» — я хотел бы рассказать, как на практике, проходят такие опросы и почему их результат не будет другим даже во время штурма Кремля разъярённой толпой.
Ложь первая: возрастная выборка
Обзванивается на автомате сквозная база, из которой удалены только телефоны несовершеннолетних и компаний, про которые компания, ведущая обзвон, уже знает. То есть мы тупо один раз туда уже позвонили и поставили этот номер в блок на 6 месяцев.
Опросы длинные. Даже тот, который «займёт не более минут вашего времени» на практике занимает от десяти до пятнадцати минут, а более подробный — от получаса.
Про пять минут, кстати, не ложь: как и во всей остальной статистике, включая результаты наших опросов, тут важно не что мы считаем, а как. Пять минут занимает разговор по этому опроснику в среднем, включая незаконченные опросы, посылы в туман и брошенные трубки.
Теоретически, можно быстрее, но на практике интервьируемые думают над вопросами, переспрашивают, сомневаются, не понимают, что имелось в виду и т.д.
До конца опроса доходят, как следствие, только #пенсионеры, да и то не все, а кому скучно и нечего делать. Незаконченные опросы в статистику не идут.
То есть, все эти опросы выходят с неравной возрастной выборкой: де факто, они не учитывают мнение лиц моложе 50 лет и, при этом, имеют примерно экспоненциальную зависимость числа опрашиваемых от их возраста.
Ложь вторая: я вам правды не скажу
Но и это ещё только цветочки: Многие опросы предлагают ответить на открытый вопрос о доверии политикам: «Назовите до пяти человек, которым вы доверяете», а потом на вопрос «Доверяете ли вы В.В. Путину?».
При этом на первый вопрос от нас требовали выжимать из опрашиваемого хотя бы три фамилии — именно отсюда берутся рейтинги #Шойгу и Лаврова — их называют сторонники Путина, которых попросили назвать ещё хотя бы двух человек. Причём, если у Шойгу ещё есть собственные сторонники [теперь уже нет, но статья писалась два года назад, а опросы проводились четыре года назад], то рейтинг Лаврова — это реальный рейтинг Путина — ниже расскажу, почему.
И что вы думаете — #старики, на первый вопрос Путина даже не назвавшие, на второй быстро отвечаю «Да!», «Конечно поддерживаю!», а одна старушка вообще выдала «Я за Партию!».
Вообще, мы не должны были задавать уточняющих вопросов, — запомните это, кстати — но менеджер в тот день была одна на два десятка операторов и я рискнул уточнить у нескольких таких человек:
- Как же вы говорите, что ему доверяете, если даже не назвали его в ответе на предыдущий вопрос?
А дальше их ответы:
- Молодой человек, но мы же взрослые люди, я же знаю, что вы всё за мной записываете.
- Ой… Допишите, пожалуйста, прошу вас, я забыла! Вы можете как-то об этом не говорить?
- Ничего я вам больше не скажу, волки позорные! (бросает трубку)
То есть, люди в возрасте, которые не доверяют власти её же и бояться, а в то, что это соцопрос либо не верят, — и правильно, кстати, делают, об этом ниже, — либо вообще не понимают, что это такое.
И что же сделали аффилированные с властью « #социологи », когда #рейтинг Путина по первому вопросу упал до 30%? Правильно, они просто стали считать рейтинг по вопросу о доверии лично ему! И рейтинг чудесным образом вырос в полтора-два раза, в зависимости от опроса. Занавес.
Ложь третья: И это неправильный ответ!
А теперь о том, почему я больше не буду делать опросы — разве что меня позовёт #Левада. А не буду потому, что опросы от всех остальных заказчиков — государственная #пропаганда по телефону, под видом опроса.
Помните, я вам говорил, что опрашивающий не должен задавать уточняющих вопросов? Так вот, это правило только для Левады. Для остальных заказчиков задавать не просто уточняющие, а наводящие на нужный ответ вопросы не просто можно, а прямо требовалось от нас по «методике опроса».
Задаём мы вопросы об отношении к новой Конституции России и там был вопрос об отношении к каждому конкретному изменению. Во-первых, ни обнуления сроков Путина, ни увеличения полномочий президента, ни его пожизненной неприкосновенности в этом списке просто не было. А во-вторых от нас требовали переспрашивать ответ и пояснять отдельные пункты, в случае если ответ по ним был «не поддерживаю». То есть вся цель этого «опроса» была в том, чтобы убедить собеседника поддержать изменения.
Заключение
Таким образом, опросы — как минимум, опросы телефонные, но я не думаю, что с иными типами опросов ситуация сильно лучше — не дают репрезентативной выборки, содержат правдивые ответы только от тех, кто доверяет власти — что в принципе лишает эти опросы смысла, даже проведённые Левадой, — проводятся так, чтобы получить нужные заказчику ответы, а потом ещё обрабатываются в нужном заказчику ключе.
В последнее время на TJ регулярно появляются посты и комментарии о том, что опросы показывают поддержку россиянами Путина и войны, и даже её рост на фоне санкций.

- I'm the creator and lead dev of ModShark, a standalone auto-moderator for Sharkey instances. There's a severe lack of good moderation features for fediverse nodes, but I hope to improve the situation with ModShark and other independent tools.
- I occasionally publish fedi-admin-scripts, a small collection of scripts, queries, and documentation for admins of Sharkey and Akkoma instances. The goal here is low-effort knowledge sharing for the benefit of other admins.
- One of my larger projects is AP-WAF, a plugin-based extensible firewall for ActivityPub software. I hope it can bridge the feature gap between different fediverse servers by moving low-level moderation and security features into the middleware layer.
- I'm building ActivityPubSharp, an implementation of ActivityPub in C#. I'm using a novel approach to model AP's dynamically-typed extensions model in a type-safe way without sacrificing C#'s efficient, strong typing model.
- I built little-log-scan as a tool to track botnets and other internet threats. LLS ingests webserver logs through a series of heuristic rules to detect known vulnerabilities, identify payload types, and aggregate metadata. The output is structured for easy research analysis.
- As time allows, I'm building Lavender FE - a "universal" frontend for fediverse instances. Lavender is designed to seamlessly integrate multiple accounts, regardless of the instance or backend software.
- I curate a list of DotNet-ActivityPub-Projects, which is exactly what it sounds like. My goal is to index all projects that implement ActivityPub using C# or another CLR language.
- What started as a meme is now the Expressions AS Extension, an ActivityStreams extension meant to introduce protocol-level support for non-text communication. I hope that Expressions can enable new federated communication modes that are more comfortable to neurodivergent people.
- I contribute to Letterbook, a next-generation fediverse server offering simple operation and powerful safety tools. Letterbook incorporates a unique architecture that avoids many of the classic limitations faced by fedi server projects.
- I also contribute to Sharkey, a soft-fork of Misskey offering extensive quality-of-life improvements. Sharkey is designed as a safe extension of Misskey's native feature set, providing widespread improvements with minimal risk.
