I am unhealthily fascinated with Suno. I've found a lot of ways to make interesting stuff out of stuff that already exists without setting off the copyright detector. And thanks to things @jaybird110127 and @BorrisInABox have posted, I know Suno can add singing to a track and follow the lead melody of it, as long as the syllabels match exactly. So, I used a MIDI file of Scarborough Fair from my old Yamaha keyboard, fed it to Suno, and tried to ask it to cover the song using the original lyrics. In theory, this should make a cover of the song with the original melody and original lyrics. Unsurprisingly, this didn't work, because Suno checks lyrics to see if they match. So, I typed in my own very stupid lyrics to see if the singer would follow the piano melody of the original demo. In short, it worked. This has insane parody potential.
While I'm talking about games: #stardew Access is so, so close to being actually fun, with a good time freeze and autofishing addon. Unfortunately, I just can't get past the way pathfinding fails sometimes, and the way crops that are watered randomly don't update to show they're watered, and the way NPCs run around like pixies when you want to talk to them, so by the time pathfinding finishes they're already gone, and the way getting into bed is still a matter of trial and error. It makes things that would otherwise be fun into a chore. But, like, the mod itself is done well enough that it makes Stardew feel like a native #audiogame, if it wasn't for the weird bugs and issues. And the game is fully playable, from what I can tell. I just can't get into the relaxing cozy vibe when I'm trying to figure out the exact direction to approach my bed at night, or wondering why the plants aren't getting watered when I'm using my watering can right on the tile, or chasing an NPC across the map who keeps walking away from me when I wanna talk to them. github.com/stardew-access/stardew-access#a11y

the NPC’s. Do you like to run away a lot. That’s why I use SMAPI commands to make friends with everybody at once. I get tired of chasing them. I found a trick for getting into bed. Let it pass, find due to the bed, take one step forward, and then hit the bed again. you’ll get the do you want to go to sleep pop up then, or at least you should
@evilcookies98 Do you have a stardew stream? I think you stream games sometimes? How do you befriend npcs via smapi? Does it still let you complete the intros quest?
I don’t know about the intro quest honestly. Never really paid much attention. When I even bother trying to complete that quest, I save it for a festival day because it’s a lot easier to track people down. Also if you want to use SMAPI, the command is debug friendall
in that case I would use a festival day to take care of the introductions. People aren’t wandering around too much and you can usually get two most if not all of them.
@evilcookies98 Thanks! I haven't had one of those yet. Mostly I just get to day five or six, realize that a crop that I thought was watered isn't, get upset that now I screwed up, and restart. Or pick up my bed by mistake, can never ever put it back, get upset, and restart. Or spend all day chasing Haley all over the map, get somewhere that leaves me completely stuck and unable to get back to the bus stop, get upset, and restart. LOL
if you get stuck somewhere, you can use debug warp farm to get back to your farm, or if you wanna warp somewhere else, substitute the name of any location for the one I just used in the example. You can work yourself to the beach, town, the forest, etc. I don’t know the names of all the buildings, so I don’t know how you could warp yourself into, say, some random person‘s house, but as for the big locations, I do know you can do that. Just don’t warp yourself to the summit unless you wanna get pushed off.
@evilcookies98 I mean I spend so much of my time chasing Haley and Abigail around the map as they franticly run away from me that I might as well just complete my creepy stalker vibe and warp directly into their bedrooms, right? Sigh. It's thoughts like this that makes it hard for me to relax while playing Stardew. LOL. Seriously though, thanks for the tips.
@evilcookies98 I'd buy it! And best thing is, the process for, like, installing and setting up the mod is well documented. So you don't have to cover any of the boaring stuff. Just the actually interesting tips for really playing the game.
right. Although going over basic set up for dummies might not hurt in case somebody stumbles across the book by chance and doesn’t even know there is a mod.

what about with jaws? That’s basically what I use unless I’m playing ball bouncer because for some reason they saw fit to break being able to play the game with Jaws. Before the 1.3 update came out. It worked just fine and now it won’t do squat. i’m a little annoyed by that.

I'm loving the heck out of Stardew with the Access mod, yes there are quirks and idiosyncrasies, but I challenge anyone to make a native audio game that comes close to Stardew, because so far it hasn't been done. And I love the fact that Access is continually getting worked on, there was an update earlier today that allows for accessible egg hunts and such. I do feel your pain as regards to NPC's running away from you, I just keep moving to them until I get to a place where I can actually talk to them, but it does take a lot of trial and error. Stardew does have a learning curve, but so far, I'm getting pretty used to it. It's a lot of fun.
I think the watering plant is also a visual bug. It's possible to toggle a settings to see a rectangle showing where the tool will be used (it's supposed to designate the tile on which the tool will do something) but it often shows a tile which is not the one where the tool is used! It's a problem in the vanilla game I encounter each time I play. Those problems totally may be linked.
I didn't expect my post about Swedish Television mistakenly labeling Vladimir Putin as "president USA" yesterday to blow up the way it did. What I *really* didn't expect was #Hachyderm's admins deleting my post just as it was approaching a thousand boosts. This because someone allegedly reported it as "misinformation", and that what I saw on TV "does not appear to have actually happened"... which ironically is about as Putinesque a statement can be.
So how would you fact check this? A few people commenting on the post had already done that, the way people normally do — by asking for the source. And they got it. I even boosted the link to SVT Play, where the broadcast can be streamed by anyone. It's still there svtplay.se/video/jAM5B9o/aktue…
The Hachyderm "fact checking" process doesn't ask for a source though. In fact, they didn't ask me for anything. Since there were no news headlines mentioning this blunder, it must not have happened.
I appreciate the lecture for me to "fact check my posts before posting", but the assumption that I'd want to post anything on this instance again could certainly need some fact checking.

Ball Bouncer is perhaps the ultimate culmination of a bunch of weird #blind traits in the #audiogames scene: random pointless destruction, casual games, 2d audio, and incomprehensible ball physics. Oh, and as with most of these types of games, I brutally suck at it, but feel compelled to keep playing anyway for some reason. with that game, practice makes perfect. also you could change the what they call camera view. that might help you out. I know that if I use the default stuff I suck hardcore. I have mine changed, and it is saved that way too.
@JamminJerry I mean I don't get a single streak of perfect hits, I come within one swing of getting a penalty for missing a couple times, and I get it stuck a bunch bouncing around at floor level. Compared to people who are actually any good at this I'm pretty terrible.

@prokopets That's why I put the content warning there. If the game had advertising, or otherwise involved any money going to anyone in Russia, I wouldn't play at all. But as it is, there isn't even a donation link. So from an ethical perspective, I personally drew the conclusion that running it in a virtual machine is fine.
Except that you're not running a game made by the Russian government, you're running a game created by a blind developer wanting to have some fun. Unless you're wanting to tell me that everybody in Russia is evil by default, which doesn't make you any better TBH...

Other than causing you additional audio lag and preventing the best possible experience, I am not entirely sure what does running it in a VM prevent here. What resources are we talking about?

In the world I live in, not every free program needs to be open source by default and there's nothing to suspect about that. He has as much of a right to choose whether to publish his code or not as does anybody else.

I am not sure if you're understanding that we're not talking about companies here. We're talking about a single, independent developer. If they wanted to push malware on you, there are about a million better ways than spending days developing and polishing an audio game.

There's a certain point where we get into the realms of being both pointless and ridiculous, and we just reached it. Keep playing it in a VM, do whatever makes you happy, just don't reach out to any developers with this kind of attitude. We had enough developers quitting audio game development, both because it doesn't pay off in any way, but also because blind people are unbelievably disrespectful and entitled.

@NikJov I am completely serious. My children and grandchildren will know that russia is a terrorist state and pure evil, because everyone must know it. I avoid all russian products. I will pay attention to and try to prevent others from using any russian products because they (directly or indirectly) impact the number of rockets and Shaheds that fall on my head every day. If you don't understand why it's so important, at least be respectful of our fight and efforts to clear the information space from the russian plague.

Except that in the real world, I can't count the number of friends from Ukraine I have, and clearly they don't share your stance, nor do they think that avoiding a Russian audio game helps anybody in any way, shape or form. Canada’s new Prime Minister Mark Carney ordered a review of Canada’s contract with the US’s Lockheed Martin Corp for 88 F-35 fighter jets, in response to tariffs and expansionist rhetoric from President Donald Trump.
The top choice is the Swedish-built Saab Gripen, who promised that assembly would take place in Canada and there would be a transfer of intellectual property, which would allow the aircraft to be maintained in Canada - unlike the F-35 that has to be maintained in the USA.

Another week. Another museum. This week the Swedish History Museum in Stockholm. I came here largely to see this one tool chest.
It's the Mästermyr toolchest. A 1000 year old chest filled with blacksmithing and woodworking tools. It's an incredibly important find. Beautifully preserved in the bog. The tools are wonderful. I'd seen pictures and read about these tools, but to see them up close. That hack saw is exquisite.

May have to give that another shot. As much as I love working with Bevy, my biggest blocker to finishing System Fault has been that there' not the usual game dev stuff for it yet, and something like building a character controller when you can't see the million little ways your character gets stuck on the environment is tricky AF. Being able to just plunk stuff down, attach sounds and physics, grab third-party assets,and start building is something I sorely miss.

@electricCZ @jan hardwarově (zpracování, výkon, kvalita fotek) Pixely nemají na Galaxy S, ale GrapheneOS je prostě ❤️ a ten hardwarový rozdíl není zase tak velký. Já teď jedu dokonce na 6a a čekám až vyjde Pixel 10 a normálně se s tím dá v pohodě fungovat.
@electricCZ @jan Nemít hodinky, tak by to pro mě byl asi dealbreaker, ale já už se před tím snažil placení přes Google Pay omezit a platil hlavně Garmin Pay, takže mi to nevadí.
@electricCZ @jan jo, dneska ty dražší mobily fotí všechny výborně. Displej je lepší, ale i dílenským zpracováním S25 působí líp než Pixel 9. Co mi ale asi chybí nejvíc, je velikost S25. Velikost a váha Pixelu 6a už jsou trochu mimo moji komfortní zónu. Vadí při běhání. A novější Pixely už jsou stejné velké nebo větší.
Ach jo, velikost S24, nebo iPhone bez max, je asi limit kam bych chtěl jít, tak koukám, že asi zase skončím jinde. Já tu módu zvětšování telefonů nějak nechápu. @archos @jan
@sesivany @electricCZ @jan U S25 je významný rozdíl mezi základním modelem a Ultrou. Měl jsem rok a půl Fold 5. Ten má foťáky stejné s S23, možná dokonce S22 neultra a i když nefotil špatně, tak už S22 Ultra byla o parník dál. Je to docela škoda.
Já používám Pixely od Pixelu 2XL. Hry nehraju, tak větší fps nepotřebuji. Baterie jde nastavit i na pixelu 6a. Je to od Androidu 15. Jinak je pravda, že občas se mi zahřívaly všechny Pixely. Pro mě je hlavní, že tam jde GrapheneOs a to mi stačí, nekupuji je hned co vyjdou na trh. Snad jedině na co nadávám, je výdrž baterie, ta u všech pixelů byla nic moc. @sesivany @electricCZ @jan
