@Bruce I have read that some influential #Catholic individuals who supposedly belong to a group called Opus Dei were in and around the Vatican before the conclave began trying to somehow influence the deliberations. I don’t have any skin in the game, as I have said before elsewhere I’m not #Catholic even though I was blessed with Jesuit education through high school and college. I think there will be continuing pressure, probably on all sides, to politicize the papacy, and to the extent it can be resisted I hope it is.

The real problem, was that app trying to force us to choose between our privacy and their services by forcing the disabling of the ad blocker, and their argument of everyone else having to deal with the problem, doesn’t hold away either because everyone else can get to the close button. It’s not our fault. Talkback doesn’t see it after all. It’s also not our fault if someone’s ad causes actual damage to our phone because it locks it up and overheats it. There are entitled brats in any group I grant you, but this over a generalization and looking down on those of us who actually don’t have any money is just bar worthy. also, if I have to make a choice between my privacy in your app, your app is automatically going in the garbage. I was going to pay the subscription for the app they mentioned, until it demanded I disabled my ad blocker. My ad blocker is there for my privacy and the security of my device, including limiting the potential for massive overheating and physical damage. I am not turning it off just because some app says that I have to. How about I uninstall that app and make sure all of my friends know that they should too instead. I did the same thing with the CW. They tried to make me disable my ad blocker, they got deleted. Dice world is an example of an app that does ads in a way that isn’t intrusive. You have the option to watch video ads, but you don’t have to, and the rest of their ads are those little banner ads running across the bottom of the screen that don’t actually get in the way.

"Water rights defender Karina Ruiz Ocampo, who had been disappeared since April 13 after unknown persons broke into her home and forcibly took her away, was found dead on Saturday, May 3, in the municipality of Amatitán, Jalisco. Karina was a member of the organization La Cima Nuestra Prioridad, and defended the right to water in the La Cima neighborhood in El Arenal, where she lived.

"Due to her advocacy work, Karina had received constant threats through social networks, and feared for her safety. March 23, 2025 was her last participation in a public demonstration."

Bewerbungsfotos ist natürlich was anderes.

Meine Glaskugel schätzt das es bald sowieso Webdienste für lizenzierte Passbilder gibt, wo man eigene Bilder hochladen kann zum Weiterleiten an die Behörde. für 1€ vielleicht....

Today sharing another of @metalab events with public notes that you might find interesting. Show and Tell is basically what it says: you show up and share anything you've recently come across for everyone to try out. Today we've had a mix of KVM devices, obscure HTML elements, archives of mod game music and retro games in general and anything in between. The meetings are usually on a Thursday at the beginning of the month (the 2nd if I'm not mistaken) and the discoveries are uploaded soon after so keep coming back to find out what we dug up any given month. metalab.at/wiki/Show_and_Tell

We are proud to introduce the New and Improved #ScribeForDocuments!
We’ve given Scribe’s engine quite the tune-up. The result? Remediation speed like you’ve never seen before, with no compromises on accuracy! Gone are the days of waiting several minutes to read your document. Upload your material to Scribe, and within a mere instant, it will be ready to read! While you read, Scribe continues plugging away at your document until it’s fully remediated, at which point you can produce your very own, offline copy of the document in our wide variety of conversion formats. Never before has document accessibility been this instant!
And as if that isn't enough of a speed boost, how about document remediation direct from your browser? With browser extensions for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, Scribe now lives in your web browser. And the best part? You don’t even need to go hunting for icons! Just use a keyboard shortcut to activate Scribe, select your file, and within seconds, your content is remediated!
Found a PDF link? Use the keyboard to access the context menu, choose “Convert with Scribe,” and you’re off to the races!
Audio narration gets a massive update here as well!
Our updated text-to-speech engine offers incredibly natural voices that can even switch languages mid-document. Whether you’re listening to a business proposal or a leisure read, these voices enhance the experience without the robotic feel we’ve had to tolerate for too long.
Affordable Pricing That Makes Sense
In an effort to make document remediation as affordable as possible, we have introduced a new, simplified pricing structure.
• Pages can be purchased À la carte at a rate of $0.05 per page.
• The minimum spend of $10 gets you 200 pages!
• $25, which used to give you 100 pages, now gives you 500 pages!
• These pages never expire, and will remain at the ready when the need arises.
• Our subscription has increased to 4x its original value: $250 now gives you a hopping 10000 pages per year!
• Irrespective of purchase type, we have significantly increased the available payment methods we support, making purchases easier than ever.
With the great many new features present in Scribe for Documents, now is an excellent time to get in on the action!
Try Scribe for yourself by visiting scribeit.io, and see just how easy it is to get your documents remediated!

@mcepl someone posted it as a single file to a Telegram group of OsmAnd users, but then someone pointed me to this site where you can also download it and much more: anygis.ru/
You open the file in OsmAnd, add it as source and then set it as an overlay in map settings.
in reply to Jachym Cepicky

@jachym @mcepl Looking at the file, it may actually be using tiles for desktop... 🤷‍♂️

@mcepl They are simple to be used everywhere, that's what I would be expecting in 3rd party apps.

Not sure about the implementation and its compliance with terms developer.mapy.cz/smluvni-ujed…

But its looking ok developer.mapy.cz/rest-api/map… just be aware of scraping/local storing

Hello #gnome people, are #gui tests still done through the #accessibility #api? I found discourse.gnome.org/t/how-do-y… but havent yet a chance to use #openQA or #dogtail. Im asking mostly because Im planning on making some small application, and I would like to add at the end of the CI pipeline some #end2end #test to make sure there are no regressions when attempting on some #datadriven #dynamic layout generation. Or in GNOME case e2e tests are generally not done for specific applications, and they are mostly for the shell, and applications are tested (mostly) by hand? (not trying to belittle #QA people, just I feel the common use cases should be automated to lessen the burden on them)
in reply to jablkoziemne

GUI tests are kind of pointless: testing that the toolkit is doing the right thing should be part of the toolkit's test suite, not your application's. There's no point in simulating a user click on a menu, or a button, and seeing what happens.

My suggestion, like I said on that Discourse topic, is to split UI and business logic, and then create a "mock" UI for your tests that calls the business logic.
