Je o mně známo, že bytostně nesnáším lháře, křiváky, komunisty, StBáky a vůbec jakékoliv šmejdy.
A dnes se podruhé v mém dosavadním životě stává premiérem tohoto státu jedna z nejodpornějších postav podnikání a politiky. Spolu s dalšími přisluhovači a mafiány povede také jednu z nejhorších polistopadových vlád.
Když jsem se koncem roku 1989 na chvíli jako mladý "revolucionář" zapojil do demokratizačního procesu v naší okresní vesnici, neměl jsem tenkrát samozřejmě tušení, že za plus třicet let se do různých pozic politiky opět dostanou lidé bez morálky.

Inu, skutečná demokracie jest křehká květina. Pečovat o ni se musí v pravdě a lásce. Doufejme tedy, že těch pár let strádání přežije a v mezičase vyrostou nové mladé výhonky, které do politiky vrátí slušnost, poctivost a řád.

Tak Babiš už je premiér. Tuším, že až dnes cestou domů překročím státní hranice, bude v ČR všechno krásné a svěží. Hned na první benzínce poteče nafta proudem a šťastní důchodci na mě budou mávat šťanglí uheráku. Cesta do Německa bude ucpaná ‚migranty‘ a svítit se bude všude klidně i přes den — elektřina přece bude tak levná.

Deutsche Bahn zwingt mich, mein Login-Passwort zu ändern: Es hat 24 Zeichen, ist zufällig, beinhaltet Groß-/Kleinbuchstaben und Zahlen und hat eine Entropie über 110 Bit. Aber weil kein Sonderzeichen drin ist, gilt es als unsicher. Sicherheitsrichtlinien von 2005 lassen grüßen. 🙄

wenn die Angehörigen da sind ist nicht hilfreich - denn es bestätigt das was sich befürchten: Da ist keiner der sich kümmert während in den anderen Zimmer die Leute ein und aus gehen.

Ich versuche dies eine*r Kolleg*in zu vermitteln.

This holiday season I'd like to make someone I think is very important a bit of joy, however I need your help with it.

National bank of slovakia is issuing so called commemorative and collector euro 2 coins to celebrate historic memories, anniversaries and other special events. A friend of mine is collecting these coins with her dad whenever it's possible.

I have found out this is not specific to our country as european central bank has standardised this process and all the countries that have accepted euro can issue such commemorative coins.

Now the part I'd need some help with.

Can you please check with the national bank where you live if you can acquire some of the commemorative euro 2 coins, make me an offer and send these to me through ordinary post / mail service please?

In the Starfleet Technical Manual, there is a throwaway detail of the LCARS user interface that when it is upgraded, users can still utilize the previous several versions. This is because their work is mission-critical and it is unacceptable to compromise the mission by forcing unfamiliar changes; eventual retraining is part of their job, but the flexibility allows them to take the retraining at their own pace.

I think about this from time-to-time and how this is still a sci-fi idea that is seen all too rarely in how we do actual computer UIs.

Today's #FreeSoftwareAdvent is all about XMPP.

Snikket (snikket.org/) is an easy-to-install, and easy-to-administer, XMPP server. It is designed for families and other small groups. The apps for Android and iOS (based on Conversations, I think) are great.

Dino (dino.im/) is my desktop XMPP client of choice.

Profanity (profanity-im.github.io/) is a terminal / console XMPP client, which is incredibly convenient.

Why not have a fun festive project of setting up an XMPP-based chat server for you and your family and friends?

Snikket jsem chvíli používal, je to klasický XMPP server, instalace na pár kliknutí. Je to dělaný pro rodinu, či menší komunitu.
Nextcloud i Matrix máme na Oscloud není problém používat.

I'm the kind of guy who would probably call up WFDD (local public radio station in North Carolina where I grew up) and ask if anyone who currently works there remembers that very specific instrumental version of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer you played on December 17, 1989, because I wanna hear it again, and I only ever heard it once in my life.

I'm not actually going to do it, but those numbers are accurate, and I do kinda want to know what version it was for absolutely no reason.
