A few things. Holy shit the screen is small. And I can't even read it without glasses anymore.

And it was still configured including with the date that was only 10 minutes ahead.

Bought it more than 20 years ago.

I've had Ditto for a few weeks. It's an alternative to the Windows clipboard that adds a whole lot of cool extras. Today, I finally had occasion to use the search. I simply started typing the snippet I wanted, hit tab, and pressed enter. Windows has clipboard history, but it's 25 items at most and has no search, groups, or other nifty features.

Qtractor is a free, open-source digital audio workstation (DAW) designed for multi-track audio and MIDI recording, editing, and mixing. Qtractor version 1.4.0 was released on November 01, 2024 and is available to download from the Flathub website.

It really bugs me when the AI chat bots in Picture Smart choose to summarize the text in an image. This has happened twice today and I had to then follow up with asking it to just show me the text in the image, rather than summarizing it. Once I did this, it complied. It reminds me of those times when I'm in a doctor's office and the receptionist hands me a form to sign. I ask him or her what is on the form and instead of reading it, they'll say something like, "Oh, that's just you giving us permission to bill your insurance." It was only recently when I realized that the forms had more material than what I was being told and so now I either insist that someone reads the entire form to me or I just use AIRA to do it. Not quite the same situation, I know, but it annoys me when an AI bot summarizes text that it sees, rather than just showing me the text. It's bad enough that I have to force other humans to not do this. Now I have to do the same thing with a chat bot.

So I own a language interpretation agency. Mainly, it’s from one language to another, but someone can also be requested if the patient isn’t able to read the printed word. I in the past have requested that someone be available to read me and help me fill out forms etc. it’s the patient’s right to request assistance and the hospital’s obligation to provide it.

I would never tell anyone how they must vote nor would I, in my official role as pastor, endorse a specific candidate. However, there are principles that we, as Christians, should consider. Here are a few thoughts in that direction: 1 Kindness. This is a core value for me. If someone is casually or regularly mean-spirited, that's a huge red flag, and they’re far from the heart of the Gospel. 2 Current and proposed treatment of the "least of these." In Matthew 25, Jesus is pretty clear that the measure of our faith is in how we treat the most marginalized among us. He goes as far as to say that if you don't do that well, you're going to find it pretty hot in the afterlife… 3 Current and proposed treatment of the economy towards a Biblical ethic of economic justice. There is more in the Bible about this issue than any other single issue Christians debate, and it's sad that so many Christians don't know this.

Of course, no one is perfect and we lean into grace but sometimes it's easy to see where one candidate is trying harder to demonstrate selfless rather than selfish behavior. This includes a realistic look at how the candidate has handled his/her own family and interacted with the public in the past. 5 If a candidate is proposing restrictions to health care and education then that candidate is working in direct opposition to the Gospel. 6 A whole life approach to things in general. As opposed to merely “pro-life” this means an attitude that works towards solutions that make the choice for life more likely. So, things like universal child care, access to affordable health care, etc. are to be worked toward. 7 Specific to this election is a consideration of immigration. Here is what the Bible says about that: Leviticus 19:33-34: "When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.” (Note that this is a direct command from God.) And in the Greek scriptures, Hebrews 13:2: "Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” What candidates and policies honor that sentiment?

As a Christian, I agree with the critical importance of how we treat the least of these. I think it goes without saying that if unborn children in the womb are not the least of these, then I don't know what is.

The GOP will only reduce taxes for the 1% and the 5% of Americans. Kamala Harris plans to make those who make over 400K pay their fair share.

That red skirt I just mended with the little embroidered daisy? Welp, got it stuck on something and ripped the waist opening of it, didn't I. 😆 I don't have thread or a patching fabric that exactly matches so I went the scrap piece of fabric of a good weight and highly visible mending route. I'm thinking it's going to be either a colourful fern or a peacock feather, but bed calls me.

The stem or vane of whatever the embroidery will be, finished but with the fluffy bits or fronds missing. The shape is a lovely organic twist of curls, the thread colours stand out and it looks fairly balanced in the little framed rectangle of the topstitching holding the patch in place. The tear is visible when you look directly at it, but the eye is drawn to the embroidery, which will when finished cover up most of it.

The tear is at the pocket slit, and while the seam itself has perfect integrity, the fabric itself has torn a good hand's width down. The patch is a bit of green fabric with flowers, from another sewing project, the edge cut with pinking shears. The topstitching from the right side is done with a colour gradient thread going between blue, gold and red, with blends in between. There is the paws and edge of the face of a ginger cat in one frame, as the cat assists.
A very close up of the embroidery going on top of the patch, on the right side. The edges of the tear have been overlapped and loosely stitched together with a red linen thread, that is the wrong thickness, but roughly the right colour. The embroidery is a stem or vane in progress, done in teeny tiny little backstitch. There are varying lines of possible directions for the line of stitching to go, Sini has not been able to decide and has sketched right on top of the fabric.

it has acapela text-to-speech in it. My first Index used prerecorded Human speech, but the newer ones have software.
The control panel is labeled in Braille.

@EdenLinnea yeah. I mean hammering holes in things is never going to be a silent operation, but I've heard much quieter machines.

it's not designed for huuuge batch jobs, of course. I can run off a 30 page bug history for work whilst popping out for a coffee and nobody's bothered. I would like a better way of binding my paper, perhaps i'll ask for a binding machine as a christmas present.

we don't have anything comparable to your national weather radio service here. Our shipping forecast goes out a few times a day and there are specialist marine radios that use VHF I think, but tuning into 24/7 weather on a home receiver seems a pretty different way of doing it to me here in the UK.

@leeloo F-Droid describes itself as decentralized and stresses the importance to not be "locked into F-Droid as the monopoly app provider" (see: f-droid.org/en/2022/02/05/dece…) – so we help with that. Furthermore, several apps have #reproducibleBuilds at IoD but not there (e.g. Aurora Store). IzzyOnDroid performs extra checks (see: android.izzysoft.de/articles/n…). So this increases security and also resilience. Also, some people prefer one place and others the other, developers included 😉
