They're screwed either way, but they had the choice to stand up for their consumers and didn't. The brand damage calculation was so far off the entire thing has backfired against them I think.
As it turns out, being a public company in an era of rising fascism is a huge risk. Private companies don't have this problem.

Most of the people who canceled are not going to magically renew their subscriptions, so the damage has been done. Some might be reversed, but definitely not enough to cover the lawyer feea "saved".
100% agree. They should have not complied and then they could at least have argued in court that keeping their customers happy was the better calculated risk for the long term.

Really the main thing for me is just a lot of unlabeled buttons, and the new sliders that were introduced recently don't actually appear a sliders. They respond to arrows, but screen readers cannot give feedback about the new value set because as I've said, they're not sliders. Also I don't Believe many of the song editing/inpainting stuff has been made accessible, but I might be wrong on that point. I would also just remind them that any new product that is released should be tested for accessibility, it is the right thing to do and will only make them more money in the long term.
@ZBennoui The inpainting and editing features are not accessible. They use a waveform display to set the start and end times. Would sliders or an edit box be more helpful for adjusting the start and end times? Also, the track position slider is not actually a slider—it's just text that shows the current track position.
Yes, I'd say both sliders and an edit control should be added to make adjusting these times easier. It'll probably make it more accurate for sighted users as well.

ok bad news, but somehow on Windows 10, NVDA, with UAC enabled, gives a "remote procedure call" failure when launching. What the heck. This is just odd. Even NVDA 2024.4.2 did this. So strange to me! I had to nuke user account control fully off in the registry, not good.
I fixed my NVDA user account control issue problem. I had to temporarily disable it in registry: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, set EnableLUA from 1 to 0, reboot, installed updates, set it back to 1 because I wanted it on still, rebooted, and somehow, magically now NVDA could register itself even under UAC, how odd.

troll. They keep creating new accounts on public open instance and importing their follower list, then posting some awful shit, and promptly getting suspended. I think he's close to 200 different accounts now. Beyond annoying.
@talon last count was 172 accounts, 141 suspended at the source instance, 31 still active. and that was as of 1:35 AM on September 21, 2025 Eastern time. I'm betting the number's gone up!

well, lowest I can get Windows 11 RAM is, 3.96 GB at cold boot. that's not horrible, but not great. On a 64-gig ram system. You might ask, why do you care with so much ram around? And I will answer you, because even if idle processor usage is around 1% on both Windows and Linux, the processes running in that 4 gigabytes of ram will ramp your processor up from time to time on their background tasks and activities, so that it doesn't matter how much more ram you have in reality. Time to install Windows 10 IoT!

Two minor nitpicks on my GNU Taler experience. (And the fact that I’m complaining about those should be taken as an indication on how well the experiment went otherwise.)
• From checkout (by the merchant) to creation of the QR Code it sometimes took a little bit too long (seconds instead of instant). I think it round trips to the server and maybe the network was slow.
• The wallet app on Android looks very plain and boring. If we integrate this into #Conversations_im it needs to look cooler.
We tried hard to provide good Internet connection through our OpenWrt WiFi. My 4 or 5 transactions all were completed within a second which is a huge improvement over last year's experience.
I ran into a problem where a transaction stayed in a pending state without finishing. In the end I fixed it by turning off my VPN, but it took a good 10 minutes of trying again, with a different app, from a user instead of the infopoint tablet etc.
Do you know if they intent to make private transactions between individuals possible?
The usecase would be anonymously tipping people in the fediverse, while they can protect their identity if they want so.
I don't know if this part of the fediverse is visible to you, but here it's pretty common that some who fall short in cash ask for a little support and others then help out.

please fix this - I use a bauble instead of chapter, and it looks fine. except it is not in the middle as wanted. I can edit position, even use format and it confirms center, I can save, but the moment I move the cursor it jumps back to align left. look ok on screen but it has changed. and when you want to export to epub, you get something useless and ugly with all images aligned left - even the logo on top first page. whatever I do. spent TWO DAYS trying everything
and can you put epub format choices somewhere? as is it changes fonts and font sizes, doesn't respect manual pagebreaks and keeps left aligning everything. (and yes I am used to Calibre which I can edit manually, but it puts in an awful lot of code and I am trying to upload to a sensitive system. accepting your epub (but for 'direction' in the CSS not allowed and wanting 'head' to have a child element. and it doesn't carry image info to make 'alt' text however you format it.

You can report issues or enhancement requests to our community here: bugs.documentfoundation.org – Please bear in mind that we're a volunteer-driven project with limited resources, so we can't guarantee an immediate fix. But if you give the developers there your specific requests, and someone has time, they can work on it...
Great news that something is being done to det Basic IDE. It would also be great if macro recorder produced (re)usable basic code and not generating this "stone-age" code. 🙂
Is it still working? Looks like the project was abandoned 4..5 years ago – but certainly, Funkwhale moved on. Should Otter no longer work, we'd rather remove it from IzzyOnDroid, to avoid disappointments.
in my experience it started breaking a couple years ago. Pretty much the only real app used for Funkwhale (using their native api over subsonic) is the funkwhale app itself. I imagine Otter will become completely unusable once Funkwhale 2.0 becomes stable as they are doing major API changes how music libraries work.

Okay, I think I figured it out. Copied speech saves up a few things you copied, and instead of returning to where you copied it, you can just use the rotor option to copy the copied thing and paste it. Unless that's done some other way, that's how I made it work. It's neat, though.

@ati1 Hey there. it is not supported and we only currently provide builds for x86_64, not for ARM (but this will probably change in the future). It probably works to some degree but there's no telling how well or what actually works.
We will consider this but the platform is really new and we don't have too many resources to spare. The good news is, the clients are open source and can be modified if there is enough enthusiasm for it. 😊

You obviously can't use LLMs to review code written by LLMs. So you still need people who know how to read code. How do you get those people without having people write code?
Small admin note for folks on this instance: If you need to upload a large file (say, greater than 20 MB) and are using TweeseCake, don't. TweeseCake does not follow the proper flow in Mastodon, and your file upload will end in a 422 error no matter how long you wait. If your file is larger than 20 MB, use another client or upload it via the web. We did have an unrelated issue with media uploads that I've since hammered into place, but this one needs to be fixed by the TC folks. Fortunately I'm told they're working on that. Until that happens, however, web or another client if your file's bigger than 20 MB. #MastoAdmin
So I guess we're doing this now! It was surprisingly not hard to find this type of video in my language. The numbers 0-100 spoken (mostly) in fairly standard Catalan by all different people, supposedly each one of the age of the number they say. I say mostly because some of them are clearly not native (e.g. 32 and 41) and end up essentially saying it in Spanish.

@cachondo @Onj Almost! As far as I can tell the first vowel in the Welsh 9 is more like the Catalan A, so like you say it sounds like English "now". The one in the Catalan 9 is an open O, so kind of like the O in general American English "dog". There's no equivalent diphthong in English as far as I'm aware.
