:boost_requested: Does anyone know a poem or phrase in Spanish that would be familiar for a non-religious wedding speech in Chile?

I'm not fluent and I have a friend who is going to help me translate, but it would be so helpful to have some kind of idiom to work with as a familiar anchor.

I am the brother of the groom, and what I would emphasize about both of them is an intense compassion for other people and each other.

I wish I knew enough Spanish to ask this question in Spanish 😭.

I feel like people are surprised when they learn that I, as someone who writes quite a bit about transfem disposability, have the attitudes that I do toward distancing myself from toxic people - transfems included. I feel like they see it as an inherent contradiction, or perhaps not practicing what I preach.

in reality, it's pretty simple. anything that I wouldn't accept from any other person, I won't accept from a transfem person.

when I write about transfem disposability, I'm diagnosing a phenomenon wherein transfems are granted far less latitude than your average person, or queer person, or trans person, as far as the missteps we're allowed to make and the space we're allowed to take up. we're valued less, and more readily discarded on a whim, than most other trans people, due to our intersection of perceived privilege and lesser social status.

what I'm not doing, is giving other transfems a license to treat me and others like shit and then claim "non-disposability" when they refuse to hold themselves accountable.

no person - not a single human being on earth - has a carte-blanche license to hurt you, harm you, or abuse you accountability-free.

not marginalized people.

not friends or family or romantic partners.

not people who have done good deeds for you in the past.

nobody.

and the sooner we internalize that, the sooner we can do better for ourselves and for those around us.

haven't used this in a while, but it worked really well when I did. Lets you have messages read with a SAPI voice of your choosing as well as review them with an invisible interface. github.com/metalalchemist/VeTu…

Still love the Cadence for day to day. I could be in a meeting reviewing code on it, since Google Meet does cancel out the sound it makes, and so much more fits. About one sentence or full line of code. Reviewing indentations can work just as well, although one line of code may be several unindented lines of Braille if the line splits at a word. Still, not hard to scan lines for indents. Works well. I know it can't do unbroken graphics to the same extent as DotPad or Monarch or Graphiti, but gosh darn it, 96 characters of text in a multiline pocketable style was too attractive to not pass up, and will be very worth it when I travel next year. I can fit one in a pocket, since it is about the size of an iPhone Pro.

Among the enhancements are:

More metadata protection: protect message recipients

More resilience: new experimental feature to use several addresses per profile (multi-relay)

in reply to Тимур Сагденов

what do you mean by "I tried but failed"?

it is super easy to do, you only need to go to chatmail.at/relays select one relay you want to add, click the QR code that will appear in the relay page, that will prompt you to add a new address to your existing selected profile

in Advanced settings > Relays you can see your list of relays/addresses and add/remove or change or select which one should be your main address (used for sending)

Protests outside of an Apple Store in Portland, Oregon continue in retaliation to ICEBlock being removed, as protestors show up in Santa suits to demand the app's return and Apple stand up to authoritarianism.

Advice for frequent travelers: Get a travel router. It makes everything easier and more secure. At a bare minimum, use a custom DNS like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8.

Where I am, I have a really stable 100+Mb connection, but deathly slow DNS. Switching to my own travel router on the same connection makes things DRAMATICALLY faster, even routing back through my home network.

I just published a Substack on the coding resources I recommend for beginners. I cover FreeCodeCamp, W3Schools, Codecademy, Udemy, LinkedIn Learning, and the Apple App Development class from @techopolis.social. I also mention Sean Allen, Paul Hudson, Traversy Media, and Fireship.

Even w/ it being a Federal program, the CAQists/PQists, etc. will sabotage it w/ their xenophobic, bigoted, pure laine policies.

I need you to stop scrolling and read the most human piece of writing I've read in a very, very long time.

Thanks, @WeirdWriter.

Edit: If you feel like you got a lot out of this piece, I'm sure Rob would definitely appreciate some subscribers to his newsletter and tips/a paid subscription if you can afford it! It's not easy making a living as a writer.

Seriously people, if you're going to put work into making your blog look beautiful you HAVE GOT to see what it looks like with large minimum font size (not zoom). At my default 20pt minimum font size this blog gives me roughly 4 words per line.

I'm not going to read the damn article like this, no matter how good the words are. Yes, I can switch to "Reader View" but I shouldn't have to.

From the Blinux list, my thoughts below the quote:

"Hello to all.

This is partly a (re)introduction and some good news (news for definitely not all, but some) of you.

This message is actually send to two lists, as I have no clue how big intersection of the member lists there are (I suppose huge, but not complete), so sorry for double receiving, you who are in both lists.

And now, with the disclaimers out of the way... I started to be interested in Linux, say ten or twelve years ago (don't remember exactly). Through a set of happy coincidences, I managed to get a job at Red Hat in the desktop team, and because accessibility was in the times of the reorg an important thing, a tools and accessibility team actually was created. It is quite a small team, and the majority of people on it do not have work time to do anything with accessibility (we're maintaining some of the Gnome apps, we do RHEL packaging, testing etc.).

However, I am working on the accessibility related things every day, so don't be afraid to ask something, mention your issues, and such.

Personally, in terms of distributions, I use GNome on Arch (personal laptop) and Fedora (work laptop), so I have the most experience with these setups, but I definitely used Mate, and tried Kde for some time as well.

And, that's it for now. "

So, a small team, that barely has time to do what the team is about. This is really sad. This is what people with disabilities get from one of the biggest Linux companies there is.
