Very exciting to see the closed beta announcement of Thunderbird's Appointment service for scheduled meeting times - I look forward to hopefully trying it out soon! I'm regularly planning across time zones and definitely have the pain point of using email threads to find a time which it promises to solve, so it sounds like it's going very helpful! Haven't really jumped on similar services because I haven't spent the time to work out if I trust them or not. I trust the Thunderbird team with this though  @thunderbird #thunderbird

Heather has a fantastic write-up of their experience at the event, which includes Ryan's inspiring, insightful keynote (seriously, watch it if you haven't already) and some conversations about calendars, flatpaks, and (controversy alert!) telemetry.

Next week I will travel to #GUADEC #GUADEC2024 to Denver, CO, in the US.

Perhaps some of you have read my #OpenPrinting News from May where I tell that 2004 was a magic year and so we have a lot 20th anniversaries in FOSS now.

And the 2 keynotes on GUADEC are about 2 of them: Ryan Sipes, CEO of #Thunderbird @thunderbird and Stephanie Taylor, program lead of #GSoC!

Open source software is the people who make it, and we think Team Thunderbird has some especially awesome people. But don't take our word for it! Watch our latest 'Meet the Team' with UI/UX Designer @solange_valverde!

I did try #thunderbird and #k9, but I hit a snag: most of my email needn't be read, special offers, mailing lists on a tangent etc, Gmail adaptively 'classes' these into updates, promo, social etc so I can go into that box, select all, omit a few, and delete.

Is there a similar facility in thunderbird? A plugin perhaps? Please say yes (or soon)! It would be tedious to invent filters for each instance.
