Dear @thunderbird Team,
syncing the mail account data by qr code works in both ways Android2Ubuntu and Ubuntu2Android.
But I'm missing, extracting the private keys for PGP.
I knew there is a 3rd party app needed like openkeychain, importing the keys.
That is an obstacle for unexperienced users.

GNOME was my introduction to the linux desktop world. Since my introduction in 2021, I have since used many desktops but always found my home back at GNOME. It's reliable and I can't see myself using anything else as a daily driver. So of course I need to give back.

U.S.-based independent contractors, like myself, are about to have our health care costs triple.
Many of us have two weeks to reinvent ourselves and this WILL harm Free and Open Source efforts.
At best, we will volunteer less. At worst, key contributors will cease participation.
I am happy to discuss strategies to preserve what so many have worked to hard to build.
i have no health insurance as of 1/1/25 because I refuse to continue paying the costs as an independent contractor *before* this happened....
@thunderbird should at least open a path to allow us to replace their OpenPGP implementation, RNP, with other implementations, like @sequoiapgp's Octopus.
Integrating #Enigmail was not seamless. Functionality was lost, including #GnuPG's keyring and trust model. (e.g.: bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.…)
They may have their rationale on which they made these decisions, but the negative effect on the usability of Thunderbird+PGP for those who have them for many years is real.

I've used various open source email clients over the years, but right now, my email client of choice is Thunderbird, on desktop and mobile. When I installed the mobile app, I was pleased to find that I could create a QR code on the desktop that my phone could scan to set up my accounts there. Much simpler and quicker than manually entering all the account details.
One of Thunderbird's killer features for me is the Send Later add-on. I have it configured so that when I click "Send" on an email, it delays sending by five minutes. That gives me a chance to realise that I'd missed something, and edit the email before sending.
But it can also set a much longer delay. Sometimes I work in the evening, but any emails that I write then are scheduled to be sent the next morning at a more sensible time.

Why would the Firefox flatpak do this:
- a) Updated it automatically circa 1 month ago; it lost all my containers and sessions. I think it restarted empty.
- b) Updated it automatically about 5 days ago; again it lost all my containers and sessions, and restarted with my REALLY OLD windows and tabs from before (a).
Neither update lost my bookmarks or anything critical. I just have to re-do my logins in the appropriate containers; no big deal, but it's annoying.

I'm trying to decide whether I should invest in a Raspberry Pi. Thing about me is, I have everything I need. I don't know what to get this Christmas. My list is empty. As depressing as that sounds, it's not. I have come to accept that the stuff I have always wanted is right at my fingertips.
I’ve built a few Braille-related apps, and I’m learning the hard way how difficult this space really is.
Discoverability is hard, onboarding takes time, and even motivated users often need practice before the apps become useful. Some software concepts are innovative, powerful, but slower compared to hardware tools.
I’m still iterating and listening carefully to feedback.

I learned the fucking rules and grammar! I checked the spelling in the dictionary! I read the style guides and the outlines of prose and poetry, I studied the classics! Sit the fuck down and go home to learn your own fucking language you silly oblivious little git. 👿
I can relate. I especially dislike the "that word doesn't exist" some people would confidently assert, which just meant they'd never heard it before. I know my native language pretty well, but it wouldn't occur to me to say something like that; because I'm aware I don't know all the words.
Next investment for this zoom recorder on top of looking for external microphones? A windscreen for the stereo capsules. Honestly I can't really do any recording without one. I didn't realize how sensitve those mics were. good lord.
A Zoom H1 Essential accessoir kit does exist (labelled APH-1e), which contains a case, wind screen and power adapter. From my experience the wind screens aren't top notch, but better than nothing.
Kauai Coffee is a 3,000-acre farm on the south side of the island, the largest coffee farm in the US. Its lease is being threatened by the landowner and they may have to close shop.
I have mixed feelings about this because, a) The company provides jobs for the island, but b) Their coffee is absolute shite. They grow it in sandy soil near sea level and it tastes like dog's balls. Sorry not sorry.

@Scott Trying to make a speech synth. Whether it'll go anywhere or not is another matter, but I got a pretty clear "ah" out of it the other day and that's a lot further than I was expecting to get. So I have hope.
Checked freebsd handbook for jail docs and the linux jail is apparently just a regular bsd jail with linux chroot in /compat. That's lame, thought I could just run the jail with linux rootfs directly.
I use debootstrap to construct a Linux jail, then just custom setup the jail to use that path. Works fine.
if you do it the handbook way you get the "benefit" of being able to just pkg upgrade on the host and all the linux-y packages installed into that compat/ get updated, thus the Linux jails mounting in the compat/ are affected, which I can see the appeal of but that's not what I want most of the time
you'll have to set a custom exec.start for the jail to NOT be the init, but something (don't treat it like a VM)
also you'll want to set the persist; option on the jail in case you want to start it up with no processes running so you can poke around and figure out what you need to get it working the way you want
you can try, but I've always run into weird problems but it's probably really just systemd being a dickbag
in FreeBSD, everything is in a jail technically. the PIDs are all global, they just have an additional identifier -- the JID.
So all normal processes are in JID 0
if you run top with the -j flag you can see the JIDs of processes
i have a lot of jails on my server

Calls are 1:1 and E2E encrypted. It is just WebRTC with signaling done over existing OpenPGP-encrypted email.
i see in the settings, that we can set some server, does they need to be set to work or does the default configuration already work ? (i ask because it's not imediatly clear and i prefer avoir breaking it :)
also (wallpaper are like any other not shared with the other people we talk to i guess (just to be sure)).

za 150 asi dobrý, ale má to jen 24 kWh baterii. Jako jeté už spíš 20-22. Po půl roce s elektroautem už bych nechtěl nic pod 40 kWh ani jako městské auto. V zimě na krátké trasy si to vezme klidně 20-25 kWh/100 km. S takovou baterií to musí být v jednom kuse na nabíječce. Z praktických důvodů je dobré mít rezervu. Když zjistím, že se potřebuju otočit na druhý konec Brna a v baterii mám momentálně třetinu a nemůžu čekat, až se to nabije.

I know how to do that. But currently it is a handjob and needs to be done on every mobile device.
I have my Desktop proflie since centuries, copying and duplicating from Windows to Linux and vice versa with just copy & paste the profile folder was easy going. (And it was very handy to have these as a backup).
So my request is mostly for standard users.
