I remember #NaNoWriMo's innocent early days of simply cranking out a terrible first draft without your internal editor interfering, and then watched in disappointment over the years as it became institutionalized and started taking itself way too $eriou$ly.

This latest misstep isn't terribly $urpri$ing, and they surely won't be the last arts organization to make a tone deaf decision related to "AI" non$en$e.

@bryansmart @ZBennoui Can's speak for Maschine, since I do not use it, but not sure I can access more of Guitar Rig's content. Perhaps I'm missing a trick? Native Access's redesign is certainly good, but I am not sure if we gained much in terms of efficiency. All of these changes are happening sooooo slooooow though. :) NKS support is spotty. I guess, I will take whatever is given, I don't want to sound trumpets just yet! :)

Oh boi, do I have thoughts about #nanowrimo. Disclosure; I have written millions of words (most of them technical), I have done #NaNoWriMo a few times, and I have been writing about #AI since the early 90s.

#LLMs are NOT AI. LLMs are vacuums which sort existing data into sets. They do not create anything. Everything they output depends on stolen data. There is no honest LLM.

This year, Nano is sponsored by an LLM company, and after pushback, they said anyone suggesting AI shouldn't be used was "ableist and "classist"....which....whooweee , that's a mighty bold stance.

LLMs are being sued to hell by authors for slurping up all their content. The reason you can "engineer a prompt" by including "in the style of RR Martin" is because the LLM has digested ALL of RRMartin.

Re: "ableism", I'm going to direct you to Lina² neuromatch.social/@lina/113069…, who writes about the issue better than I could. And I want to thank @LinuxAndYarn for coming up with my fave new Nano tag: #NahNoHellNo.

Dnes jsem dostal zprávu, že byl můj podcast zařazen na web České podcasty. Tři roky od jeho vzniku :) No jo, popularizace vědy, záznamy předášek či četby z populárně-vědecké literatury nikdy nemohou překonat bulvár jako jsou Opravdové zločiny :))))) Pokud by se vám chtělo a pokud jste si opravdu něco již naposlouchali z mého podcastu Dobrodružství poznávání, můžete zde ceskepodcasty.cz/podcast/dobro… přidat své hodnocení. A nemusíte mne šetřit, už něco unesu :) Předem moc děkuji. Ale klidně se věnujte jiným věcem, není to zas tak důležité pro to, co dělám. Mne potěší, když nějaké zajímavé četby dorazí k vašim uším. To úplně stačí :)

I just heard from them and they confirmed that this book isn't available in an electronic format. If it's the case that the publisher doesn't believe in eBooks then they're not only behind the times but they're locking out an entire community of readers. A paper version of a book would take hours for me to scan. If their titles were available as eBooks, I'd be willing to purchase them as would,, I'm sure, other visually impaired readers. As it stands now, they've lost several sales from me.

There's a new bout of "Facebook are listening to you through your microphone to serve targeted ads, no really we have proof now!" discourse, and I'm revisiting my long-term hobby of trying (and failing) to convince people that this isn't happening

It's fascinating to me how hard it is to talk people out of believing this one - there was a podcast episode about exactly this challenge back in 2017 and it's still true today gimletmedia.com/shows/reply-al…

@hobs I think this mostly happens due to people seeing ads for what they're talking about, without realizing the power of coincidences on one hand and the power of search tracking on the other.

The best way I've found to convince nonn-technical people that this isn't true is to make them notice when the same phenomenon happens on linear TV.

You can only do this in-person though, and only when the people in question actually do watch TV and/or listen to the radio.

I do pity the general population who has to be subjected to that sort of built-in data collection, and all the security and privacy problems it entails. Too bad #Linux is not even a blip on the public consciousness & cultural upbringing.

Jsou produkty a taky software, u kterých si myslím, že se velmi přiblížili k dokonalosti, resp. to co slibují dělají dobře. Za mě to jsou:

* Framework notebook s AMD procesorem - lepší notebook jsem nikdy neměl
* Kindle Paperwhite 5 - za mě překonal papír a pokud vám nevadí knihy v angličtině, je to jak Netflix pro knížky
* Miniflux - self-hosted RSS čtečka, co se ovládá klávesovými zkratkami a umí stáhnout obsah stránky, takže skoro všechno čtete v jednom rozhraní.
* Gitea - vlastní Github

@stepan Já mám 13. I když ho mám téměř pořád v dockině, tak s ním cestuju mezi kanclem a domovem. Případně ho tahám na chalupu a podobně. 16 by byl moc velký. Taky 13 je tak o 10-15k levnější.

Jinak to jsou ty dva na fotce. Ten tmavší je AMD, ten používám. Ten světlejší jsem dal tchýni. To je první generace, co jsem si nechal poslat z USA. Ten nebyl tak dobrej. To AMD je úplně bezproblémové.
