Dann unterzeichnet unsere Petition: vcd.org/macht-das-49euro-ticke…
Over the past weeks we have been looking at bike sharing systems around the world and checking how the cycling routes between them score.
The current top three of cities:
🥇1.7 ➡ Helsinki: anyways.eu/map/model/baec2096-…
🥈1.4 ➡ Antwerp with Velo: anyways.eu/map/model/e5ae22d8-…
🥉1.3 ➡ Sevilla with Sevici: anyways.eu/map/model/6a31ebfe-…

🤔 We are looking at cities outside of Europe we hope to join the top three, any ideas are welcome!
I WILL NOT SIGN the "Stop Killing Videogames" petition and if you're a game developer with half a braincell left in you, you should not as well.
It is a poorly written attempt at a petition by someone who seems to have no idea that games exist outside of AAA/online-only ones.
And it's a shame because I am 100% behind video game preservation, but this petition is so poorly written, I will actually fight against it.
I explained why it's bad on B: bsky.app/profile/sosowski.bsky…

to be clear: you don't need a *powerful* GPU, merely a recent one with decently supported drivers (preferably open source).
Personally, I have an AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, and it's more than enough for GTK4 (using and developing).
the drivers are supported by Mesa and X11.
Note: X11 is considered legacy, at this point; it's supported, but all the work in the graphics stack (kernel, Mesa, display servers, compositors, toolkits) is geared towards Wayland.

Come. Say hi. Get a curl sticker.
The #curl 8.10.0 release presentation

Interesting episode of Focus On Linux on the #SovereignTechFund (@sovtechfund) with Daniel Stenberg (@bagder), who talks about how #Curl has been funded by the STF.
#curl provides this listing and collection of ALL past security vulnerabilities at curl.se/docs/security.html
I claim that curl does this better than, yeah, just about all other projects. Because we put a lot of effort into it. Because we believe our users deserve it.
#curl 8.10.0 is here. A larger update than in a while.

I made the #deltachat_web version run as add-on on #HomeAssistant. It was easy, just took me around 2 days.
So this is one way to host the browser edition in your local network.
Though I must tell you that I don't plan to maintain this, I just made it because it looked like a fun side quest to #deltatauri. That being said it is totally usable.
Thanks @homeassistant for making add-on development so easy.

Delta Chat Desktop Browser Edition as Home Assistant Addon. Proof of Concept.Codeberg.org

@buzzdee @homeassistant
I haven't found one yet 😅
I was making some other addons to track some metrics, so I saw how easy making addons is. Which brought me to attempting this a small challenge.
In the future it could be nice to also integrate it further into home-assistant, so you can send a delta chat message in automations, like when a leak was detected or sth.
Could be nice to have this with the desktop UI, because it can make setting up bot accounts feels more tangible than just setting a email and password field.
@rtn also nice idea, though the app is already really good.
What could be nice would be some interface where you can select some limited entities/lamps/devices to be controlled by a bot+webxdc and then it creates a group where you can add friends that stay over so while they are in the group they can just control the light and stuff in the guest room and they don't need to download extra apps?
We made a blogpost about the #deltachat_web version.

Ostie François, t'es un imbécile.
Something I was working on over the week-end: raw thumbnailer for #GNOME. I updated my old one, rewriting it in Rust.
The JPG use the standard thumbnailer. The DNG use mine. And for this specific file there is not even a preview of that size to extract.
(works with most camera raw files)
A small Belgian NGO has collected data about bicycle parkings, but they now want to import their bicycle parking data into #OpenStreetMap
Care to help a bit? It is a big game of geo-sleuthing ;)
It can be done by:
1. Open mapcomplete.org/velopark
2. Search a yellow icon - it is a bicycle parking to import
3. Figure out if it still exists and where exactly it is located
4. Link or create a new bicycle parking
5. Update attributes
Rinse and repeat! Happy mapping and thanks for helping!
@InsertUser In the best case, yes! However; that is very hard to do. In practice, I usually inspect current aerial imagery, check old imagery if the area has changed and have a look to mapillary. That is often enough to figure out what the current situation is.
And I sometimes had cases where someone actually added a picture with mapcomplete before :)
God this is fucking incredible. Please take my word for it and read
Speech to Text on Linux?!?!
I just found "Speech Note" when searching the Software app.
Installed it via flatpak.
flathub.org/apps/net.mkiol.Spe…
Used the "English (Vosk Large)" and "English (Vosk Small)" language model with very decent results. There are loads of models to choose from.
All processed locally. No network needed!
This is great!
