Na hranicích Chebska a Sokolovska se v sobotu nad ránem otřásala země. Zemětřesení bylo mírné. Nejsilnější otřesy byly po 06:00 a dosahovaly úrovně dva stupně. Epicentrum bylo východně od Lubů u Chebu.

Přemýšlím, že bych si postavil vlastní domácí NAS server (asi Owncloud Infinite Scale + Immich v dockeru na mini PC). Jenže nemám veřejnou IP (router je za NATem). ⚠️ Jak nejlépe a levně zajistit konektivitu na takový domácí server? 🛜 Levná VPS jen na WireGuard tunel nebo je nějaké lepší řešení? 💡 Nebo se na to vyprdnout a dál platit Google Disk? 💰

Je nějaký důvod, proč to chceš mít doma? Nextcloud jako službu s 1 TB dnes seženeš za pár korun. Když bys nad tím chtěl mít větší kontrolu, tak si můžeš rozjet levnou VPS a k tomu S3 object storage.
Já mám vedle Nextcloudu doma ještě Synology a je to celkem mizerie. Stejně pro to musím mít zálohu někde mimo domov a přístup z venku je pomalý kvůli pomalému uploadu.

I didn't mean Nextcloud installations on their premise. I do it for myself, but I don't think it's good every one, actually it isn't for most. By "setting up a Nextcloud service" I mean picking something like Hetzner Storage Share and setting it up the way it works for them like the old solution.

The combination of two audio files might be problematic in general. Actually it's not possible over here to upload more than one video or audio and the replay of any of the two files displayed with timer might not work.

Getting started with XMPP/Jabber and PGP for federated, encrypted messaging

This is a short thread where I explain how I started using the XMPP protocol and PGP encryption for secure messaging. I am not a security expert, but I am a mathematician and I am confortable with the Linux command line. This guide is for people who want to use PGP for secure messaging easily. You will need to be okay with typing commands into the Linux command line in order to do this, but I will tell you exactly what to enter.

Part 1: XMPP

Mastodon is like email, but for social media. You sign up for an account with a server, and then you can talk with any other accounts that are signed up on other servers, as long as your servers are getting along. (No one wants emails from the sketchy spam server, and we want to be able to choose between Yahoo, Gmail, etc.) XMPP (a.k.a. Jabber) is the same thing for text messaging.

Just like signing up for an email/Mastodon account, you need to sign up for an account. You can find a list of servers at list.jabber.at/ and will probably at least need to provide an email addess when making an account.

Once you have made an account, you need a client. On Linux, I've been having a good time using Dino (dino.im/). You can then enter your account name and password to log into your XMPP account and start chatting! There are both public rooms and you can also message directly with your friends.

There's a famous library on the border between Quebec and Vermont. The borderline runs right through the library. It's been this way for 100 years and it is symbolic of the closeness between Americans and Canadians. In Trump's Amerikkka wonderful is no longer allowed. So they closed access to Canadians today. In case it is unclear: libgen is good. Subverting copyright cartels is good. Authors getting paid for their work is also good, but copyright does not serve that role and is instead a weapon publishers use to retain control as obligate distribution passages and thus control over payment. Meta being able to vacuum up the commons (without even seeding) and launder it into a tool of mass informational disempowerment and control is bad. Meta being able to torrent while the rest of us can't is bad.

In 1752, workmen discovered charred papyri and excavations of them started later. Over the years, attempts have been made to open and read them, but they have disintegrated.

Now, using volumetric scanning, the scrolls are beginning to be "unrolled."

A local ordinance has banned grass burning because it poisons the air and kills insects, and there are organic waste bins on every corner. Unfortunately, the effect is just the opposite. People who aren't selfish idiots didn't burn grass even before, and the rest burn even more now to show that they aren't obedient sheep and that no one is going to take away their freedom to poison the air for their neighbors.

You might think, “why do you care about sports? Why does this matter? This doesn’t affect you”. Sports bans are about creating precedent to justify further discrimination. They start with sports and denying care to minors and then expand to bathroom bans, forced detransition for inmates, denying care to adults and ID laws and the whole time their goal is to sound measured and reasonable and play to respectability while they legislate trans people to death. Sports bans are about getting you to agree that trans women are not equal to cis women and that they are something dangerous, to be feared, something invasive, something other that needs to be stopped. It’s about villainization. The science doesn’t support it. It’s 100% feels based scaremongering. If you think, “I’m a progressive person but it’s about fairness” or whatever the fuck, you’re being duped. You’re a mark and you’re enabling genocide
