Once upon a time, a blonde became so sick of hearing blonde jokes that she had her hair cut and dyed brown. A few days later, as she was out driving around
the countryside, she stopped her car to let a flock of sheep pass.

Admiring the cute wooly creatures, she said to the shepherd, "If I can guess how many sheep you have, can I take one?"

The shepherd, always the gentleman, said, "Sure!" The blonde thought for a moment and, for no discernible reason, said, "352."

This being the correct number, the shepherd was, understandably, totally amazed, and exclaimed, "You're right! O.K., I'll keep to my end of the deal. Take
your pick of my flock."

The blonde carefully considered the entire flock and finally picked the one that was by far cuter and more playful than any of the others.

When she was done, the shepherd turned to her and said, "O.K., now I have a proposition for you. If I can guess your true hair color, can I have my dog
back?"

It's taken us a while, but we're finally able to continue work on documenting how to use the #WordPress block editor with a screen reader. Everything has been updated to include both Windows and Mac keystrokes, and has been tested with the latest versions of WordPress, Jaws for Windows, NVDA, and VoiceOver for the Mac, along with Firefox and Chrome.

I ran a quick SFTP performance test with #curl built to use #libssh 0.11.1 vs one built that uses #libssh2 1.11.1 over a 400ms latency connection.

One of them managed to perform this at 1049K/sec, the other reached only 249K/sec.

And the winner is...

libssh2

Funny detail: I sped it up for this kind of use case **fifteen years ago** and blogged about it: daniel.haxx.se/blog/2010/12/08…

Neat little MNT Pocket Reform hack:

When I launch a root shell, the keyboard backlight turns bright red and it return to my default pale green when I exit the danger zone again.

It works using the command listed here: codeberg.org/selfawaresoup/uni…

I put the one for the red color in root's .bashrc and the one for returning to the default color in root's .bash_logout.

💡 Why we need lisp machines

「 They were programmed in lisp the whole way down and could be run code interpreted for convenience or compiled to microcode for efficiency. You could open up system functions in the editor, modify and compile them while the machine was running. Everything worked in a single address space, programs could talk to each other in ways operating systems of today couldn’t dream of 」

「 Your learning pace doesn’t have much to do with whether you’re smart or not or if you have a lot of programming experience. Instead, what matters more is your attitude toward the language.

I have seen junior devs excel at Rust with no prior training and senior engineers struggle for weeks/months or even give up entirely. Leave your hubris at home 」

The Spanish words 'año' ('year') and 'España' ('Spain') contain the letter ñ, which is called eñe.

It comes from a double nn. One of the n's was abbreviated as a squiggle on top of the other: ñ.

For instance, 'año' comes from Latin 'annum' with nn.

However, 'puño', 'España' and 'viña' come from 'pūgnum', 'Hispāniam' and 'vīneam', which didn't have nn.

My graphic explains how they got their ñ:
