Have you completed the 2025 NVDA Satisfaction Survey? It's a short 3 question survey, but it's a great chance to have your say on the most popular free screen reader for Windows! What are we doing well? What can we improve? Please let us know: nvaccess.org/survey

in reply to RealGene ☣️

@RealGene Good point - we don't in our bio just because there's limited room. I did just go & check the web site as well. While we don't have a big "What does NVDA stand for?" bullet point - I just searched for "NVDA" and the first mention of it on the home page is "We have spent over 15 years developing the global solution: a free, high quality screen reader, accessible to all! NVDA: Non-Visual Desktop Access. " (you'd evidently already found that, but you're right, it's not always obvious)

Check out an Applevis forum post and an associated podcast that I put together about a cool guitar gadget called Tonewood Amp. If you are an acoustic guitar player,, you may really love it! :)

Set up an appointment with a new pain therapist. At the end of our intake call, I asked, "Hey, just to be clear, there's no binding arbitration waiver in your paperwork, right?"

That was 3 days ago. I was just getting ready to drive over and he texted me this, then called me and told me he wouldn't treat me because being asked about his paperwork "made him uncomfortable."

I guess from now on I just go to the first appointment, read the paperwork and if it's objectionable, cancel and walk out?

New: Workday has disclosed a data breach affecting a third-party CRM database, likely Salesforce.

Workday hasn't explicitly yet ruled out a breach of customer data, but says the information includes personal contact information.

Workday's data breach notice is also hidden from search engines using "noindex" code, making the notice more difficult to find.

Over the past week I've been working on Playmaker.Audio: > A modern, end-to-end 3d game audio engine on top of OpenAL Soft. This project aims to give .NET / C# games a developer-first audio layer that feels closer to high-level middleware while staying completely open, hackable, and dependency-light. Hot take: I wish the Raspberry Pi project had chosen one of the BSDs as its primary OS rather than Linux. It's not as if there was a huge base of proprietary software that had already been compiled for ARMv6 Linux. And design decisions in Linux, particularly the kernel, have largely been driven by the interests of large-scale corporate users for a while. See, for example, this comment by @david_chisnall about the RCU algorithm as implemented in the kernel: lobste.rs/c/dqhaux

The past few days I've been building a small tool for checking how many members of a given Matrix room support which maximum room version. The idea has been sparked by room version 12 being released, so that one can assess the adoption rate for the new room version and make an educated decision on when to upgrade rooms.

I know there’s extra demand on Via Rail at the moment due to the Air Canada strikes, but do they really need to recreate the bad parts of the airport experience?

Making everyone queue round the block is just so regressive (this snake had two kinks so it would fit). In Europe people would be allowed to wait where they want, board when the departure platform is announced and then have their tickets checked on the train.

I just can’t believe we’ll tempt people away from flying and driving with these kinds of bad experiences 🤷‍♂️

The LLM clearly thinks I'm stupid.
I asked it about the colour options available on the [Ultrasonic Tooth Cleaner (a Dental Hygiene Tool for Plaque Removal) from Smile Therapy](smile-therapy.co.uk/products/u…)

The website is not offering to change the color of your teeth. Instead, it is displaying options to select the color of an "Ultrasonic Tooth Cleaner" device.

The product is described as featuring advanced vibration technology to help polish teeth and remove surface stains. There are color options for the device itself, not for changing the color of teeth. The available colors for the device include cyan, black, pink, teal, yellow, white, and orange.

The page lists a sale price of £24.99, down from £49.99, with additional special offers and payment options available.
