So I found the secret to getting Google to listen to us! See, you have to join their Discord servers lol.

So Gemini on Android is less accessible with TalkBack than Gemini on iOS or even Gemini on the web. And I'm tired as fuck of sucky ass technology shit for the day just trying to do BSI on this iPhone because obviously having both hands on either side of the screen is having more than 3 fingers on a single side of the screen or some bullshit. Crem of the storming crem, Apple. So St'm not going into detail about the issue here because anyone who's kept up with the complaining I do knows the issue. Anyway, so I join the Gemini Discord, and I thought I'd posted that issue months ago, but apparently not. I know I reported it from the feedback part of the Gemini settings, but this is just proof that they don't read that shit.

So I post the bug report in the bug channel, and within a good hour or 2 I get a reply. Because of course. Now Google, make a TalkBack Discord server lol. Fucking insane. But yeah y'all if you have issues with Gemini, go to their Discord lol.

Version 0.4 of Paperback, my lightweight and efficient ebook and document reader, is out! Changelog:
* Added CHM file support!
* Added bookmark support! You can have as many bookmarks throughout as many documents as you like. You can jump forward and backward through them with b and shift+b, set one with control+shift+b, and bring up a dialog to jump to a specific bookmark with control+b.
* Added an installer alongside the portable zip file! The installer will install Paperback into your Program Files directory, and automatically set up file associations for you.
* Text files with BOMs should now be decoded properly, and the BOM will no longer be displayed at the beginning of the text either.
* Added far more information to the status bar. It'll now show you your current line, character, and reading percentage.
* HTML comments, as well as the contents of script and style tags, will no longer be shown in text output.
* If passing a relative path to Paperback on the command line, it will now resolve it properly.
* Percentage movement is now handled by its own slider-based dialog, accessible with control+shift+g.
* Documents without known titles or authors will now always have a default.
* The position saving logic is now much smarter and should only write to the disk when absolutely necessary.
* The document you had focused when you closed Paperback is now remembered across application restarts.
* Input into the go to line and go to page dialogs should now be sanitized more strictly.
* Fixed table of contents navigation in epub 3 books with relative paths in their manifests.

#AndroidAppRain at apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid today brings you 12 updated apps. Our ongoing gardening activity cleaned out 2 no longer maintained apps which where also rarely downloaded anymore:

* Ylight Music: a Youtube Music client, which was reported to us as … behaving strangely
* widgets-for-auto: Android Auto widgets, with several proprietary components and also only few downloads

As it goes with gardening, our other plants are now better visible 🤗

Running 14.3-STABLE right now. Intel iwlwifi driver with an Intel AX210 card giving me full 250/40 Mbps (the maximum of my DSL line) via WiFi :)

Random connection issues, that I had with -RELEASE are solved in the current -STABLE 🙂

5Ghz, 802.11ac with 80Mhz wide channel...

We're making fast progress with FreeBSD on the modern desktop 🙂

However, I'd strongly suggest not signing up on the mastodon.social server. It's way way too large and that's dangerous (here's why fedi.tips/its-a-really-bad-ide…).

I know some find choice overwhelming, so if you just want one general long-established very busy server mas.to is a better option for example.

FWIW I'm reasonably sure Facebook never supported XMPP federation. They supported logging in via XMPP with a regular XMPP client (c2s) but they didn't support s2s. Meaning you could only chat with other Facebook users.

GTalk had federation and it was somewhat bad when they shut that down. But I don't remember Facebook's XMPP access being very relevant for the larger ecosystem.

I just had to uninstall vipre advanced security because sometimes when I would reboot the computer, my whole internet on my desktop wasn't connected. I would reboot, and it would fix its self, and then if I had to reboot again, it would break my internet again. I don't have time to try to figure out why in the sam hell it would break my internet that bad. I did try turning the firewall off, checking for internet, and there was nothing, and turning it back on, and still nothing. sometimes when I would go check, it was already turned off, but I had no internet at all on my desktop. That was fun while it lasted, but I am not paying for something that decided to sometimes cause me to have absolutely no internet access when I reboot the computer. back to microsoft defender I go I guess.

@vol4life8657 @lino_jr yeah avast is not a bad option actually. I think that the smart scan thing can also be disabled in it, and you do have a lot of control. Who knows, might switch, not like I don't have 30 days to cancel this one. Well now like 28. LOL. Still, I got tired of Defender's inability to customize scan schedule and what happens for so-called "catch-up scans." Like when a scan is interrupted in the background by a reboot and then what. I don't want it continuing then, I want it to restart the full scan. things like that I need perfect LOL
