My daughter used to have a Windows desktop and I had to reinstall Windows every six months or so because she'd done stuff like this, except more so. So I got her an iMac. A few years later she's having a problem so I open up Terminal... no terminal. Yep. same problem, except that it took years for her to break her Mac to the point she noticed something was wrong.

I ssh-ed in to her iMac and copied Terminal.app and a few other files back from my Mac and everything was good.

@rlegowski1 Well, there's always this one, which yours truly did the walkthrough for. It's possibly the most accessible drum plugin I've ever used, even if you just load it up natively in Kontakt without Komplete Kontrol.

@xtaran Maybe to e.g. uninstall that messenger app, or that activist app etc. entirely to not make it obvious you might use it?

Making up an example: you use Conversations for your "activist communication" but also have Threema installed. If both are there, both routes would be investigated. Make Conversations gone (via Panic button), and the focus would go to the one left (seems safe enough). There may be traces for forensics, yes; but let your canary die and your contacts can take measures.

End-to-End encryption is one of the good things we have with the current internet and app ecosystems. But it is under constant threat -- be it from EU's #chatcontrol, UK's "online safety bill" or the current renewed "EARN IT" effort in the US: eff.org/deeplinks/2023/04/earn… ....
anyone of these efforts succeeding would be a dangerous dam break. Let's collectively make sure all these governmental anti-privacy efforts fail!

For a while now, we've informally used a service called Huntr as a private place to report and manage vulnerabilities.

Now we're incorporating it into our security policy. We recommend that any users who wish to report security vulnerabilities in AzuraCast submit them here: huntr.dev/repos/azuracast/azur…

This service lets us privately review reports, mitigate them in our Rolling Release and Stable versions, then publish the details of any vulnerabilities, including any relevant CVEs.

I just laughed my butt off while watching this video. The guy is German, but the musicians among you will undoubtedly recognize the most common phrases. I love how creative he is. Except for the very first version, which is tailored towards a band that was only really popular in Germany in the mid 80s, the other styles are quite internationally recognizable. „Flowers“ by Miley Cyrus in five different styles: youtube.com/watch?v=qyE2OmANFm…

@desertstar84 I am totally amazed that you know them. I so far thought they were only known in Europe and maybe Russia back then. Well, I hope you enjoyed this tribute by this German Youtuber, then. And if you like the sound, if your streaming service has it, look for an artist named Mark Ashley, and an album called Heartbreak Boulevard. Some of the musicians that had worked with Modern Talking back in the 80s later made this album with this singer, whose voice is very similar to that of Thomas Anders.

So my FiL told me about this course at Cambridge University where you have to be a member of one of the world’s wealthiest families to apply. He read about it in Private Eye. I assumed it was a joke until I looked it up…

El cuento de nunca acabar con los idiomas. Many apps are inaccessible for blind/VI people. Developers usually have to implement #Accessibility features from scratch for each platform they develop on, which can scare them away. The good folks over @accesskit are trying to change that with their #Foss project, #AccessKit. Their goal is to create a cross-platform solution for accessibility that only has to be implemented once. I'm posting this to spread the word. Let's help them reach their goals! accesskit.dev/ #Blind #A11Y
