#OnThisDay, 24 Feb 1968, Jocelyn Bell Burnell - along with her male supervisor and three other men - published a paper confirming the discovery of pulsars. She had built the array, picked up the signal and argued it was not an anomaly. Hewish received the Nobel prize for it in 1974: Bell Burnell did not.
In 2018 Bell Burnell received a £3m prize for her work. She's used it to set up a foundation to improve the diversity in STEM.

A ja som taky stary, ze za mojej mladi bol luxus ist do restauracie, donasky neboli a vsetci sporovlivi doma varili a zvacsa mali niekde aj zahradku, aby nemuseli vsetky suroviny kupovat.
Ale ano, nastal progres. Co bola volakedy bezna vec je dnes tazka lopota a co bol volakedy luxus je dnes bezne.

A teda spat k aktualnej situacii: Po dvoch rokoch dost velkej inflacie tu mame dalsi rok s mensim, ale stalnym rastom cien. Jasne, je to citit, musi. Ako ekonomicky ukazovatel je to pre mnohych nepochopitelne, abstraktne, mozno aj zbytocne cislo, ale presne o tom je: rast nakladov.
Nieco je mimo nasej kontroly (napr. ruzzka invazia), ine je naopak v nasej rezii (typicky ficova verzia "socialnej demokracie" a.k.a. rozklad statu).
Nacim tuhsie porozmyslat a viac robit.
@phanecak uznávám že sme drahý (my ako Medusa, 2dc prosecca 12€) ale keď na niečo nemám tak buď sa nesťažujem alebo keď to chcem robím preto všetko aby som to mal.
Ja rozumiem tomu že v normálnej spoločnosti by asi nemal byť problém ísť sa najesť do centra ale my sme na Slovensku a nie sme tu prvý deň, tým chcem povedať že sa dá najesť aj inde ako v centre mesta.
Ceny idú hore a reštaurácie majú XY položiek ktoré zdraželi čiže sa komplexne premietne do cien. Nie je to dobré ale príčinu by som hľadal inde.
Precital som a je to myslim prekna ukazka toho, ze:
- ano, je tam pravda
- ale nie, nepodali ju dobre
Ja si pravdu predstavujem uplne v pohode ako nudnu tabulku ci graf a vcelku dobre rozumiem, ze 23% za donasku nie je sice to iste ako 23% za cele jedlo, ale ze aj tak zaboli.
Ale ked chceme vybicovat emocie resp. "click bait", tak samozrejme pomiesame hrusky s jablkami a do vety o "beznom menu" zaroven dame "kolacik za 5,9" a nespomenieme, ze "kolacik v nie beznej vyvarovni".
tiež ma fascinuje že sa sťažuje na produkt (rozmrazený/čerstvý), tie prevádzky stačí jednoducho ignorovať.
Je to "Closer" ale pod hlavičkou "SME" tak som si myslel že neviem ale príde mi to neobjektívne i keď pointu chápem.
Prišlo mi to vtipné...

odbocim este viac: Asi vidime dosledok toho, ze fico nedodrzal svoj volakedajsi slub (odchod z politiky do 2014) a teraz je vekom a kondickou uz dochodca. Co danko este nie. A fico je na bezneho dochodcu sice este v dobrom stave, ale na poziciu premiera v krusnych casoch uz asi zial¹ nestaci.

I found this slide from today's @nextcloud Hub 10 presentation interesting, and I can totally confirm it.
It always comes to mind when I see people marvelling at the progress of a new project, and viewing older projects as slow-moving.
At some point, all projects end up like this: the vast majority of the work is maintenance, and only a small fraction is new development.

If you think mask bans are “no big deal” because there’s medical exemptions, please consider the following:
😷 Police are not doctors
😷 Many disabilities are invisible
😷 Disabled people don’t live in a bubble. I need my friends and caregivers to mask to protect me
😷 Everyone should have the right to protect their health, you shouldn’t have to already be sick to be permitted to mask
😷 Criminalizing masks sends a message that maskers are “bad”. It emboldens anti-maskers and increases odds of aggression
The reality is that mask bans are discriminatory, ableist and eugenicist. They push disabled people out of public spaces. They put marginalized and POC at increased risk of police profiling.
There’s no official policy for a medical exemption either, it’s at police discretion.
If you’re stopped and questioned, you will have to prove you’re masking for the “right reasons”
I’m more than willing to admit that if I were stopped by a cop for masking, I would appear nervous, shaky, tachycardic and probably “suspicious”.
Not because I’m doing anything wrong, but because my illnesses do not respond well to stress and the police are stressful.
It’s not right to put the onus on the masker to defend their right to mask. We’re still in a global pandemic. Texas has a measles outbreak. There’s tuberculosis in Kansas. Bird flu is spreading and it’s the worst year for influenza A in over a decade.
Masks are a public health tool. They’re a disability accommodation. They should NOT be criminalized.

Benutzt hier wer die app MyGrades – apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/a… – und kann sagen, ob die überhaupt noch funktioniert? Seit 2018 nicht mehr gepflegt steht zu befürchten, dass das "Scraping" der Webseiten der entsprechenden Hochschulen nicht mehr funktioniert (und die App daher aus dem #IzzyOnDroid Repo entfernt werden sollte: wir wollen ja nix "kaputtes" in Umlauf bringen 😉)

TIL about the interaction between 303, -X and -L.
I think as a user -X overriding the HTTP method on every subsequent request when redirected is unexpected. I'd expect curl to keep the method on 307/308, override to GET on 303 (and 301/302 if it's a POST?). Which I think it's Option 1 of your proposal.
But, you just _know_ there must be someone who relies on the existing behavior.

In most cases where I'm scripting around curl(1) I have a bunch of scaffolding to save extra info for potential post facto debugging (--dump-header ..., --stderr ..., --write-out '%{json}' ...), usually tucked behind a toggle control (invocation parameter / env var / dotfile statement); but for interactive use and in the early phases of prototyping this will be super useful! And that is exactly when comments in the file would be most likely. ❤️
