One thing that bothers me a little bit: Github's 2FA prompt automatically accepts it once you enter 6 digits, instead of waiting for you to press Enter.
Delta Chat is not for the nerds, it is not so well known because it doesn't have some rich guy or millions of dollars behind and is not so heavily marketed
in Cuba Signal doesn't work at all, the SMS never arrives, similar happened in Iran, common non-nerd people manage to use Delta Chat there

@arcanechat @Zeitzeuge_64 I didn't try it, maybe I should, but I am not very convinced by the idea of doing messaging with special things like polls via email. For me email is for emails and I'd rather use a protocol which is designed for messaging like #matrix or #xmmp.
I know XMPP has problems with fragmentation and Matrix seems to be centered a bit too much around synapse (definitely improving), does not allow me to delete accounts (test accounts!!) and has some other imperfections.
@cameo007 that is a misconception! it uses SMTP+IMAP protocols but it is not email, everything is end-to-end encrypted! you can give it a try, there is a contact invite link at arcanechat.me/#contact if you want to test it with someone

for the record, fun fact: while in xmpp clients encryption can downgrade in your existing chats at any point, in Delta Chat encryption of chats can never downgrade or the key change (ex. by malicious server trying to do MITM)
the "but email!?" is a common prejudice many people have until they actually try the app

@Minimac it's still not quite the same as a call from native phone app or e.g., Signal IIRC... I believe one reason is that it would force Delta to expose call history to the native phone/dialer app and there is no way to redact it from DeltaChat's side. So you can't like delete call logs from a chat with confidence as they're recorded additionally in the phone's own call history...

I love Surge and the whole team behind it. I have them to thank for not letting me fail one of my Synth Programing classes in college lol. They made sound design actually fun for me and not a headache, and I can't wait to start playing around with Shortcircuit which is something I've been hoping to try for a very, very long time. Also feels really good to know we have access to one of the best software synths ever, free or paid.

IMHO (In My Humble Opinion): It shouldn't be "Getting of US-Tech", it should be "Getting of proprietary tech".
Open Source and Free software, open standards, supported by local experts that are part of the global community โ that's the way to #DigitalSovereignty. about "Getting of proprietary tech", I wonder if what Signal is using in AWS is some proprietary server service, would be good to figure out, not that it matters much since if something is centralized and you can't self-host it out of AWS then there is no really way to use it in a way that is not proprietary by nature

this is modern life, where you have to wrestle with everything that's yours to keep it doing what you want, not what someone else wants. Add to that list I don't want to be forced to update if I don't want to. I don't want to claw through obscure webpages and advice that I barely understand to turn off the features you're forcing on me that I never asked for. It's all so tiring!

I think it's very telling that of the top three reasons given by users of A.I. for why they use A.I. to make art โ it's faster, it's cheaper, and it lets me do alone what used to require a team of people โ literally none of them have anything to do with actually making better art. And that's coming straight from the people who actually use it.
So far, the pitch for A.I. generative art appears to be, "Use our product! You can make cheap shitty knockoffs in half the time with more loneliness!"

I also have two Tissot Silen-T watches, neither of which are currently fully functional, a Bradley timepiece, a Wenger braille watch, and a couple of cheap Seiko braille watches.
If it worked right, and if I didn't use my Apple watch, I'd probably go back to my Tissot. Too bad they're not made anymore, and I don't know where to get them fixed, if you even can anymore.
