We had an #accessibility meeting about at-spi2-core, pyatspi2, orca - notes at gnome.pages.gitlab.gnome.org/a…

BigBlueButton seems usable with a screen reader! Everyone was able to participate just fine.

HedgeDoc, not so much?

CircleCI published an incident report on their recent breach, and it's super interesting! circleci.com/blog/jan-4-2023-i…

The attacker avoided 2FA by infecting a user's machine, waiting for them to auth, and then just copying their session cookie to another computer where they could use it with no local monitoring. Either of two things could have prevented this:

1) Access to sensitive resources could be restricted to trusted machines
2) The cookie could have been tied to a hardware key on the machine

My feature article on "Visualization for the Blind" was just published in the new Jan/Feb 2023 issue of @ACM Interactions. This is a high-level overview of making #visualizations #accessible for #blind individuals, sprinkled with my own personal experiences from beginning in the #a11y space. I even squeezed two Latin quotes in! And thanks to my close collaborator Jonathan Lazar for his mentorship. DOI: 10.1145/3571737 Read the fulltext here (no paywall): interactions.acm.org/archive/v…

Přechod z Google Analytics zahajuji i u dalších webů.

Today's #AndroidAppRain at apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid brings you 14 updated and 4 new apps:

* CustoMIUIzer14: Xposed module with additional functionality for MIUI
* Amethyst: A Nostr client
* nemu-droid: remote client for nEMU (Ncurses UI for QEMU)
* Always On Clock: a simple clock with date & time to fill your entire screen

Enjoy your #free #Android #apps with #FDroid and the #IzzySoftRepo :awesome:

Indeed, that's the sort of thing I was wondering! If they've thought intently about it and actually want a trade association that is focused on & driven by the interests of commercial members, then it's a salient comparison.

Alternatively, if they just meant "steward org for some open stuff" then there's a looooot of room for more awareness-advocacy.

Me, I've got *no idea* who in the FOSS-ish gaming community is on top of those things and stands up for indie interests....

Desktop 1.34.2 is coming soon, we fixed two annoying IMAP connection issues that could result in not being able to receive more messages and also wasting your data plan on mobile. For me that Bug was triggered by a malformed spam mail.
New Mobile versions (iOS & Android) should be already out AFAIK.

Also the archived chats pseudo chatlistitem now is on top of the chatlist and has a new design.

Also for #BlackFriday I've found another streamer! I first saw Peas last night on #GamesDoneQuick, livestreaming Mario Kart 8 DLC and that Puyo game with surprisingly deep lore.

A few seconds of time here and there can really add up! When you need to send an email NOW, you don't want to backtrack through menus...

So we've added a floating Compose button to K-9 Mail version 6.500 -- available now to test in Beta, on both F-Droid and Google Play.

(Learn how to access the Beta here forum.k9mail.app/t/how-do-i-be…)

Something new I learned today: Atkinson Hyperlegible Font is a font designed with low vision readers in mind.

Can be downloaded off of Google Fonts or directly from the Braille Institute: brailleinstitute.org/freefont

in reply to Null 🌲🐌

This is fascinating! The Braille Institute has developed a font - free to download - that's designed to be clearer for readers with lower vision.

An example of one of the aspects of low legibility that they tackled attached.

It's named Atkinson Hyperlegible. Atkinson was the Institute's founder - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Rober…

Here's where you can read about the font and download it: brailleinstitute.org/freefont

I'm a really big fan of TalkBack 13.1 so far. Currently, it's not on the Play store, but you can get it from APK mirror. It now allows you to swipe up and down to select actions, just like voiceover, has spell checking for text fields, supports USB for Braille displays, is generally much faster, made touch typing much more responsive, as well as introducing a new way of typing in which you drag your finger around, and then tap with another finger to select that letter, you no longer have to be focused on a text field to navigate by letter, word, etc. In a text field, you can be on gthe keyboard, and much more. It's still marked as a beta, for good reason, multiple times while swiping up and down through this post, I got jumped to the keyboard and random letters got typed, but overall, I'm really happy with it. .. .
