I've only recommended one VPN service, ever (and no, I don't have any financial relationship to them): Mullvad. They have always seemed to be one of the few entities that practices the mantra, "You don't have to protect what you don't collect."

On April 18 at least six police officers from the National Operations Department (NOA) of the Swedish Police visited the Mullvad VPN office in Gothenburg with a search warrant. They intended to seize computers with customer data.
In line with our policies such customer data did not exist. We argued they had no reason to expect to find what they were looking for and any seizures would therefore be illegal under Swedish law. After demonstrating that this is indeed how our service works and them consulting the prosecutor they left without taking anything and without any customer information.
If they had taken something that would not have given them access to any customer information.
Mullvad has been operating our VPN service for over 14 years. This is the first time our offices have been visited with a search warrant."

I just want to say that Pipewire has dramatically improved my setup and experience with audio on Linux, even more so than Pulseaudio did some years ago.

I'm really pleased to see serious #academic #writing focused on supporting trans folks. Will the right wing read this? Probably not. Will people who are unaware of the attacks trans folk experience every day read this? Quite probably. Will it help to increase understanding, empathy and allyship? I sincerely hope so.

I don't really buy that #TheCrueltyIsThePoint. I'm a materialist. Money talks, bullshit walks. When billionaires fund unimaginably cruel policies, I think the cruelty is a *tactic*, a way to get the turkeys to vote for Christmas. After all, policies that grow the fortune of the 1% at the expense of the rest of us have a natural 99% disapproval rating.
Every year I do an activity on the fugitive slave law & civil disobedience. We talk about whether protest is worthwhile and when, if ever, it's ok to break the law to stand for moral principles.
In past years, most students were pretty cynical & said protest wasn't helpful; they wouldn't risk their own safety and security for civil disobedience. Today, numerous students said that the risk to the country of not protesting for what is right was greater than the personal risk of getting arrested.
What has changed, beyond the random mix of students? My best guess is that the frequency of protests, esp by young people, has an influence, as does the very real sense in their generation that there are serious and urgent problems in the world. That said, when I asked how many of them had ever engaged in protest or civil disobedience, only 3/23 had.
