For playback, I’m not sure what the video player control uses, could be something ancient built-into Windows. It's giving a lot of people trouble, the dev said on the audiogames forum the next version will have a new video player which should be more compatible. For some people what helped is installing the kLite codec pack so you can try that, though it didn't help me on my ARM Windows VM even though the codecs themselves appear to work in the MPCHC that got installed with it, while my physical Windows PC just worked first try.
