Greetings!

I just made a ticket for bringing #Misskey support to the Senaphore platform. I'm highly sure others will be able to explain way better in the comments!

#JournalistsOnMastodon

Folks, I just found a treasure trove:

a list of over 1,300 #journalists that already are on #Mastodon in the form of a #googledoc

In order to give the #BorgSite its final push, journalists there need to see that there really is an audience for them here in the free #fediverse

Some pull marketing would be helpful: follow as many, as you find sensible. This helps a lot.

Please boost!

This is a bot to show NVDA add-on updates available at github.com/nvaccess/addon-data…
For now it should be considered alpha quality. It looks for updates sent to the views branch, (views/en/latest folder), every 5 minutes, trying to process individual submissions.
If multiple submissions are found, this bot will inform about the number of add-ons updated. For single submissions, the add-on display name, version, channel, homepage, download URL and SHA-256 to verify its integrity will be provided.
All this may be changed or improved, and, if I detect that something is wrong, will reply to the bot providing more details.
This is built using just GitHub Actions and for now removed add-ons will be considered just updates, but I'll address them separately if needed.

This is big. No #embargoes. No #APCs.

"The #EU is ready to agree that immediate #OpenAccess to papers reporting publicly funded research should become the norm, w/o authors having to pay fees & that the bloc should support #nonprofit scholarly publishing models.

In a move that could send shockwaves through commercial scholarly #publishing, the positions are due to be adopted by the Council of the EU member state governments later this month."

Update. The #EuropeanCouncil just adopted the #OpenScience proposal anticipated earlier this month (this thread, above). No #embargoes. No #APCs. #Nonprofit publishing. #OpenLicenses. #OpenInfrastructure. consilium.europa.eu/en/press/p…

While this is not yet policy, it's a weighty recommendation to the Commission and member states.

#DraculaDaily recently started again, so I thought it would be nice to share some links and free resources 😊

It all began with the Substack newsletter: Dracula is an epistolary novel that starts on May 3rd through November 7th and if you subscribe to Daily Dracula they'll send you emails with the content of the book on that specific day!

If you prefer the audio format, I have two podcasts/audiobooks for you:
🧛 Re: Dracula, which I discovered yesterday thanks to @weirdwriter (🔗shows.acast.com/re-dracula),
🧛 and the Dracula RadioPlay Experience by Cryptic Canticles (🔗crypticcanticles.com/dracula/). I listened to this one last year and it was very enjoyable.

IMO they're both really good, there's backgroung music and different voice actors. Re: Dracula has content warnings at the start of each day, it's nice.

Finally, if you'd rather have the entire book in your hands to follow along, you can grab the print version or you can download the free ebook from the Project Gutenberg website, since Bram Stoker's Dracula is public domain.

That's all I can think about for now. Feel free to share more resources if you have them! 😊

Non-profit campaign group Human Rights Watch said the arrests were "something you would expect to see in Moscow not London".
"The reports of people being arrested for peacefully protesting the coronation are incredibly alarming"

Element (the Matrix company) collaborating with police

So @element took part in the European Police Congress in Berlin, had a booth and presentation there, and is proudly posting on the fedi about it.

I’m currently paying them $11.90 a month to host my homeserver on their EMS platform.

My payment in April will have been the last.

It’s one thing to provide FLOSS comms to the government. It’s another to proudly support our fucked up police system.

When I first learned about #SolarPunk, I immediately thought about Eloi from the classic "Traveler in Time" by H.G. Wells.
I never really feel as unflappably positive and optimistic as SolarPunk postulates. I am much more into being a (non-cannibalist) Morlock of sorts. And now I have a name for it: #LunarPunk.

🚨 🇮🇳 #India banning #OpenSource #Matrix clients like #Element is equivalent to banning your favorite web browser or email client.

🤯 Can you imagine if Firefox, Chrome, or Thunderbird were banned nationally?

🔑 Privacy is a human right.

➡️ And governments will never stop human rights abuses by denying its citizens' human rights.

:boost_love: Pass it on.

Greetings!

Well, after finding out that #WhaleBird
github.com/h3poteto/whalebird-…is a decent enough accessible MacOS client for use with #Misskey, you'll see me post on here from time to time now as well! Most of the time I'll still be posting on my Mastodon account, though watch this space! Three-Thousand characters is more than i ever would need myself, but I'll take it!

For users of #VoiceOver, the 'J' & 'k' keys currently do not speak under the curssor what the post is, thus nornal VO commands for now are necessary. Definitely a client for #Blind users to check out though!

NB. As noted among the GitHub page, WhaleBird is also available for #Windows and #Linux, though I'll leave those builds to you guys!

Ah, that's a pity. Maybe you could raise this as an issue over at github.com/NickColley/semaphor…

No guarantees that it'd be added, but it's worth a shot. imho
