I gave @hmaealdeza my old echo dot, and after resetting it, discovered that the continue conversation feature is turn on by default. This makes the echo start listening again after responding to something. I find it incredibly tedious and wish it would go away, but it can't be turned off with a voice command and she likes having it on. So, every time it starts listening when we don't want it to, I quickly tell it to play this delightfully terrible song at full volume. I finally received a parcel from Russia with the Soviet PDP-11-on-a-chip clone K1801VM1A. This box of chips was manufactured in March 1991 and stayed undisturbed until September 2023. After that, it spent one month in Moscow's Sheremetyevo and two months in London's Heathrow customs. I don't know whether any of those still work, but I think they should. Does anyone want one? I have 10, happy to share.
