How bus use has changed in London & in big cities outside of London since deregulation. (from which London was exempt).
From @thomasforth (posted at the other place)
Its quite an extraordinary 'natural experiment' - from which we can draw the conclusion (without too much difficulty) that #privatisation is not the way forward if #busses are to be part of the #greentransition
(and don't get me started on #London exceptionalism....)

"Governments from richer and poorer countries drew up the blueprint for a new “loss and damage” fund after a tense two-day meeting under UN guidance in Abu Dhabi that ended late on Saturday night....
The blueprint must be formally adopted at the Cop28 UN climate summit in Dubai at the end of this month, but this weekend’s agreement by the transitional committee, set up under the UN framework convention on climate change, means that is likely."

Hi @xmpp ,
Please don't use a Cloud(G)lare system to communicate, even publicly.
Its just not a good look.
Sincerely.
I have a brief story, and a debt to pay.
A few months back, @bagder@mastodon.social posted this picture of a curl (command line tool and library for transferring data with URLs) logo sticker on a curling broom.
I replied that I needed a sticker for my curling broom, as well. And Daniel graciously offered to send me a handful of stickers, with "payment" being a picture of the sticker(s) applied.
Today I pay my debt.
Curling season has started, I showed my team the stickers Daniel sent, and told them the story. Though none of my teammates are particularly familiar with curl, they so loved the story of a kind stranger sending stickers halfway across the world just to spread a little joy, that they all wanted to put curl stickers on their brooms.
Behold what you have wrought, @bagder@mastodon.social! On behalf of myself and my curling team, thank you for your generosity.
(The broom with the red & black shaft is mine.)

136,000 books from the 18th Century.
ONE HUNDRED THIRTY SIX THOUSAND OF THEM.
That would be a point of pride in any library. Making it readable from the Internet, browsable, and downloadable? A pipe dream.
Anyway, here they are.
All the Light We Cannot See' is a heartening and hopeful wartime tale. the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Anthony Doerr, has been adapted into a new four-part miniseries premiering on Netflix. The story takes place in the years before and during the Nazi occupation of France in World War II and features Mark Ruffalo and Hugh Laurie as its most recognizable stars. He's a tinkerer who becomes adept at building and repairing all types of radios. She's blind and is equally fascinated by the radio because she listens nightly to a shortwave broadcast, aimed at kids, hosted by a mysterious ham operator who calls himself the Professor. In Paris, Marie is inspired by the Professor's messages of hope. And back in Germany, so is Werner, who intercepts the same broadcasts from his orphanage before being forced into service by the Nazis.

I post most of my photos here - flickr.com/photos/mgifford
I'd love to have #Flickr just jump onto #ActivityPub so they could all be in one place.
Until then. Here are some photos of France.
@youronlyone The "blackhole" issue is frustrating. I have found that most followers of my Pixelfed account are on Mastodon. If I post more than 4 photos, not only will those people not see more than 4 photos, they won't have any indication that they are missing anything.
Similarly, any location or copyright information added in Pixelfed just disappears on Mastodon.
I too would prefer to focus on Flickr for photos, but I am doubtful if they will ever join the Fediverse.
