I am now also hosting x64 builds of Bookworm (the accessible ebook reading app) for Windows, again from the tip of the source tree. These are done since the AppVeyor artifacts expire and can be hard to find. When checking back for updates ensure you pay attention to the modification date on the file, not the version number, as the version number hasn't changed in a long time. x0box.xyz/uploads/bookworm/

I wish I finish up Piper-for-NVDA faster to get back to Bookworm.
I've got many new ideas for Bookworm begging for implementation. Most of them are `shooting for the moon`. But hey, There's nothing impossible under the sun.
For example, I've got an idea that's nagging me for weeks: a model to automatically tag untagged PDFs. The details are already finalized in my head, but time, time, time.
in reply to Musharraf

@mush42 Maybe, but that would rely on what amounts to the implementation details of a given renderer, E.G. pdflatex, and that'd be version specific wouldn't it? The format is just too loose for that to work in that many cases, especially for one person to figure out those cases. Some things already exist to kind of sort of do that, and you could build on those I guess, but I wouldn't expect Bookworm to have that feature myself because of what little I know about PDF. @gklein88
in reply to x0

@gklein88
I don't want to give up more details here. But here are two things:
1. Never going to parse the pdf stream itself. The parsing approach will be visual first, making use of a recently released model
2. The main benefit of deep NNs is minimal need for manual feature engineering. So I don't need to concern my self with the Nitty-gritty details. If a feature turned out to be important, I can just include it and re-train.

Shocking but not surprising: New #Microsoft #Outlook is phishing **your mail account credentials** without telling you, all it takes is try it out once. So, don't.
As always, better go with FOSS: @thunderbird

Usually phishing comes from shady people that need to jump through some hoops to try and get you. #Microsoft just thinks they can rob you in broad daylight.. crazy.

I use said funds to purchase things if I can't get NFR's from companies, so you don't have to, and so you can hear if you like the sounds or not. Many thanks.

Prepis webu >c.d do Webflow zdarne probiha.

Tedy probiha uprava designu. Designerka upravuje Figmu, tak aby s ni slo pracovat ve Webflow kompatibilnim formatu. Z tehle faze uz jde udelat hruby export primo do Webflow (pluginem) a jenom doladit detaily.

It was gonna happen at some point, I'm honestly glad they're doing it now. For most people Wayland is ready, and as someone who is nearly completely blind I can say that it's pretty much ready as well. A lot of work still needs to be put into solidifying things like accessibility key grabs for screen readers and such, and existing screen readers not relying on Xwayland, but everything else pretty much just works. The final big blocker for me was QT 6 apps totally failing to find the accessibility API, so no OBS or any other QT6 things worked until qt6-base-6.6-3. I know some blind people who absolutely swear by X and will do so until it eventually dies. One of them won't because there's nothing like xf86-video-dummy for Wayland, so he can't just have no display connected and expect everything to go to a dummy driver. The same guy also accesses his stuff remotely by setting up a spice server on the thing he wants to control, then he can connect to that via a spice client and control it because xorg basically lets you do anything.

Did you know that voice chats have also been available for #Mastodon for some time now? The whole thing is called #Audon and can either be used via the servers that are already connected, or you can set up your own servers for it. I think it's a shame that it's so underused as it definitely deserves more attention. Try it out for yourself and maybe we'll hear each other there sometime: #Audon audon.space/

What's fascinating to me is how the meme of the classical era about Socrates being ridden by his legendarily difficult wife echoed through the middle ages in the form of the tale of Phyllis riding Aristotle. erosblog.com/?s=phyllis+aristo…

And this stuff echoes! Which gets us an 1880s photo of the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and his intellectual buddy being treated like pony boys and menaced with a whip by a woman in whom both of them had romantic interest that she at least partially rebuffed: erosblog.com/2011/01/19/do-not…

When I was a wee little child, maybe 10-ish, my parents told me they had a surprise for me. Right now I can't remember if it was for my birthday, or just something they decided to do. They got me to sit down and put some stuff in my ears, and told me to wait a bit...

And then, music came out. But music like I had never heard.

It was the first time I heard a CD player. They bought me the player and a collection of 20 disks of classical music. I was learning to play back then, and wasn't very familiar with it, but it was such an awakening: the clarity of the sound, the way the instruments could all be located in space, the dynamic range, from the smallest brush of a string to the booming brass or heavy tympanis... Not to mention, there was so much complexity: dozens of instruments doing different things, all in harmony, all creating a wholesome, glorious, beautiful whole...

I remember spending entire evenings listening to music, discovering a new composer, or enjoying a recent favourite. As time went on, my tastes developed. I'm not especially fond of most opera, and find large, symphonic works often too much. Counterpoint or chamber works I love, however.

It made such an impression on me, and it was all a combination of what then was new technology, and the choice of the music itself, making for an experience that shaped me to this day.
