In 1940 and 1941, America First isolationists argued that the U.S. should not help Britain resist the Nazi onslaught because it had no chance to prevail. “I have been forced to the conclusion that we cannot win this war for England, regardless of how much assistance we extend,” Charles Lindbergh said on April 1941.

Today, America firsters are voicing a similar refrain when it comes to Ukraine.

Purism Differentiator Series, Part 6: Security

To offer proper security it is about making sure that the user (or IT team of a company or agency) has complete control of every aspect of the hardware, software, and services.

I’ve published the final episode in my Zoom Essential series, a look at the Zoom H1Essential. While there are some similarities to its bigger siblings, some things work differently, some features are absent because they don’t make sense on a two-track device, and there are a few features that this recorder has that the others don’t.
I’ve also gone into some detail about updating the firmware and accessibility files, which should prove useful for all members of the family.
I hope you find it helpful.

@janvhs , @capypara and I just landed Python Language Server in Workbench in case that's helpful.

Auto formatting and inline diagnostics are super helpful for beginners

We use python-lsp + ruff

Integrating the LSP server with GtkSourceView is quite easy, let me know if I can help.

Feedbooks is closing down on the 15th of March.

Feedbooks began as a place to download public domain ebooks, but then turned into a bookshop stocking both DRM'd and DRM-free ebooks.

While they urge customers to download their purchased ebooks before the 15th, there's no information on what to do about DRM'd titles. I assume whatever encryption they've (Adobe Digital Edition, etc?) used will be affected too.

A reminder to try and buy from DRM-free bookshops if you can.

Hey internet — I'm looking for new web dev contracting opportunities in London, UK, or remotely.

I'm a design-minded developer with ten years of experience; my most comfortable position is towards the front-end but I can happily wrangle React, Next, Node, and PHP. I care deeply about users, and as such, web performance and accessibility is at the heart of all my work.

@DavidGoldfield Same here. When Jaws is purchased for a client, I always try to get the agency to purchase LEASEY along with it. Had about 4-5 clients over the years do that and absolutely love it, even if they just use it for selecting text and the outlook calendar, they feel it is still worth it and they don't mind at all purchasing upgrades. A bit of a disclaimer, I did use jaws from 1997 until moving to NVDA in 2017 or so. I do still use it occasionally and have recently updated to LEASEY 8. My wife uses it more than me and will be purchasing LEASEY soon as well.

We’re happy to announce the release of K-9 Mail 6.800! The main goal of this version is to make it easier for you to add your email accounts to the app by integrating Thunderbird’s autoconfig feature.

With another item crossed off the list, this brings us one step closer towards Thunderbird for Android! Read the details and how to get it at our blog:

USpol, AIPAC, what is/isn't conspiracy imo

Let’s be very clear about something: there is no conspiracy in saying that AIPAC is an enemy of the left in the US or in being concerned about their influence in elections.

Political Action Committees are a horrific part of US politics, and it is factually accurate to say that AIPAC is funding right wing candidates to oust relatively left-wing incumbents.

However (as most of us know), AIPAC is not unique in participating in the political system this way; and claims that they are the masterminds or that the “Zionist lobby” is controlling US politics are stepping too far.

Fuck AIPAC, and all political action committes, and our whole system of money in politics. However, until that system is dismantled, it is fair to highlight right-wing PACs such as AIPAC and criticize their actions.

Hello ! Any improvement regarding the very poor scrolling performances on 4K displays with the default GTK3 VCL which unfortunately makes the suite almost unusable on Linux/X11 ? See for instance bugs.documentfoundation.org/sh… but there are other similar issues open.
