Why do we still call them set-top boxes? When was the last time you saw a brand new, modern television on top of which such a device could be placed? For me, this was probably in the summer of 2003, and that's kind of a stretch.
Does this go into the category of why the save icon is still a floppy disk, why phone cameras still make analog shutter noises, and why phones are still called phones?
well the fact that we're using the 'set' of 'television set' in the term is a bit of a worry. When did you last see a TV advertised as a 'television set'?
@cachondo My uncle collects old stuff. When I last visited his house about 15 years ago, he had an old TV from the early 1940s with a round screen that made motor noises when you turned it on. *That* was a television set.

I've been working with some gestural models lately. One of the cool things I can do now is shake my hand at my smart speaker's camera to get its attention, then point in a given direction, and the music moves to the next room. But the visual manifestations of that music is just not there. Little balls in the corners of the room.

yeah. We had a single source of sound for music in our kitchen for years. I have put a stereo pair in there now and it's magic, but when I was younger, stereo earphones were just a given.

Arch can have whatever GUI you set up, so it meets that requirement by default. Slint is also really good for accessibility. Didier is an excellent distro maintainer and really does a great job with accessibility for Slint. Also, if you want to install either of them, you know where to come to for support if you need it. ☺️
I would, but this machine is a laptop so I don't have that option. I will have to use a single boot loader. I do have a ssd and a spinning drive in this machine though.
So in A Herbivorous Dragon of 5000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized season 2, the Crunchy English subs make it seem like King Vanessa being a girl is a reveal in ep4, because in ep2, she's referred to as "he".
This is odd since nobody acts like it's a reveal, & her name is "Vanessa". So I looked further b/c Chinese has no spoken gendered pronoun (there is "he" & "she" in text but in speech, it's the same word). The Bilibili Chinese subs say "she" (她), so do their English subs. It's only Crunchy that made the assumption the King is a boy.
I suspect the CR translator was working from just the raw, & without text they had to make an assumption, & they heard "king" & saw somebody who could be a feminine boy & assumed male.
the reason we suspect it's a translator error and not Crunchy using AI translation or something is because in episode 4, a character definitively genders Vanessa, calling her "my sister". That's the first time it's made directly clear. (The character referred to an off screen sister in previous episodes but not that that was Vanessa). And then the Crunchy subs start referring to her using female pronouns. So that's likely when the translator realized the gender of the character.
Crunchy notoriously overworks and underpays their translators so it's likely they don't have time to think too much about these things because of how fast they're pushed to translate stuff, and they're doing it as they get the episodes.
incidentally I really hate how online western anime fandom treats Chinese anime/donghua. There's like constant hate on subsplease and other places on animation that has Chinese audio, and they complain about it being a "dub" even though that's the original language, and then they say they'll wait for the "real Japanese" even tho the JAPANESE IS THE DUB. There's also all the weebs who complain that Chinese sounds worse & is less "real" sounding than the Japanese dialogue and like, most of you can speak NEITHER LANGUAGE, shut the f- up.
And of course Wikipedia often only lists the Japanese VAs for a lot of Chinese anime, and it's so hard to find what the OP of a show is b/c all sites in search results list the Japanese OPs as the only OPs for the show -_-

ooooh curious what you find on it, I currently have an older Buffalo NAS that has a decent-ish web interface and is paired with 2 3 TB drives in RAID to make 6. Going with your analogy, if hypothetically a non-NATO member Germany would start a war and others would sanction Germany, you as a german developer would rightly get removed from kernel maintainers lists. This is how sanctions work.

I do wonder just how serious about #accessibility is the team behind the MuseScore software. At least on Mac OS things are broken to the point of making it really quite counter-productive to use it. Broken tooltips, strange keyboard navigation, unfinished dialogs, etc, etc. I've been checking for updates for ever hoping to see some progress, but progress I see none.
Heyah there. I spent some time contributing issues and suggestions regarding MuseScore Studio accessibility while I was at Eastman School of Music over the last year and a half and was studying the BANA Music Braille code manuals to gain requisite knowledge to make recommendations regarding MSS' built-in Music Braille support. However, I never had a chance to test things on a Mac, I have since begun focusing elsewhere (I felt the only meaningful way to achieve progress at the speed I would have liked would have involved me writing code, something which I do not yet have the skillset for), and others, primarily The DAISY Consortium, RNIB, and the Sao Mai Center for the Blind, quite simply beat me to the punch and have far more resources, knowledge, and development skills than I.
With that being said, hopefully I can help. Apologies if I'm providing you with information which you already know. MuseScore Studio's keyboard navigation scheme is quite weird and nonstandard on every platform. In general, F6/Shift+F6 or grave/shift+grave moves you through whole sections of the program, tab/shift+tab gets you through different controls, and arrows move ou through buttons, boxes, etc. VoiceOver nav commands will likely not be useful anywhere in MuseScore Studio (ugh). With that being said, I'm pretty sure there are several professional musicians who use MuseScore Studio 4.
There's more info available both in the MuseScore Studio 4 handbook, where there are full sections on accessibility and keyboard navigation, and there is a speciffic page on the MuseScore.org website with accessibility tips and tricks which might be of use.
Finally, a mailing list set up by a blind music educator from New Zealand has become the defacto community resource as well as a place for users and some community contributors to discuss issues and fixes. It can be found here:
A MuseScore Studio 4 WhatsApp group monitored by developers and users is also available. there is also a MuseScore Studio Discord server where developers and users discuss and where you might be able to get some traction for accessibility fixes. Please PM me for links.

Also the best advice I can give about both MuseScore as well as Sibelius is that do not use VO cursor. Just use it as like windows app with tab/shifttabs, arrows, space, return, escape, etc. Using VOCursor will ensure you'll get into trouble. lol

Do you know anything about its accessibility for screen reader users? Unfortunately, everything I've ever tried from JetBrains, was far from being usable by a screen reader user.
I never use those buttons (even though I "probably" should) and I prefer the smaller sized tablets.
Different people have different sizes they draw at and desk space should also be considered.
(I should get back to using my Intuous again. There was a while where it didn't work with GNOME due to bugs, and a while where left-handed mode didn't work either. So my usage of it dropped off as a result and I didn't keep it in my workflow.)
