Thanks to the magic of the Streisand effect, I just heard about #CarelessPeople - a book by former Meta employee Sarah Wynn-Williams.

Apparently the company is FREAKING OUT and seeking legal ways to stop its promotion. I can see why. This article about it in the Times made my jaw drop: web.archive.org/web/2025031022…

@johnefrancis True enough on that front, but frankly we need to be part of a larger economy in order to be able to stand our ground globally. Thus far the plan has been to build a relationship with the USA. That seems not to have gone as planned. Certainly, Canada/China don't have a good relationship. That basically leaves Europe.

Bluesky To Sell Your Content To AI Data Miners

So it begins. Hidden in Jay Graber's recent charm offensive is this innocuously framed initiative: Bluesky is weighing a proposal that gives users consent over how their data is used for AI (techcrunch.com/2025/03/10/blue…)

Not so fast.

1) Shows they are planning on doing content deals with AI companies.
2) Seems like it is Opt-out vs. Opt-in (see below).
3) It is just a voluntary robots.txt file

TIL about the bulk import functionality in django-import-export library.

- set `batch_size` for better performance
- doesn't work with many-to-many relationships

This isn't surprising. 0RTT and improved avoidance of head of line blocking are two of the big wins for HTTP/3, and those are ruled out by this test. Over a long connection you would get other wins (the difference in ACK vs. NACK management of loss), but "crude, single-shot transfers" weren't really the use case that drove the development of QUIC at Google or the standardization of it at the IETF.

@archos Peníze "kultivují" svět. A sociální sítě a nová internetová média, která odmítají pravidla platná pro kvalitní a solidní žurnalistiku, převálcovaly klasické zpravodajství. Emoce a populismus vymazaly rozum naprosté většině populace. A komerční média si přihřívají polívčičku a topí pod kotlem. Je lepší chodit mezi lidi, ta propast mezi skutečným životem a životem na internetu je obrovská. Od kvalitních médií pak očekávám klid, rozvahu a hluboké analýzy a rozhovory s odborníky. Toho se už asi v ČR nedočkám.

Nicméně, kdyz to ta slavná ,,americká demokracie" dovolí bez jakékoliv obrany proti diktatu jednoho, to je přeci neskutečný bordel, a blázinec.

I find it interesting what is happening to the polls in Canada.

What looked like an upcoming comfortable victory for The Conservatives has changed dramatically after the inauguration of Trump.

Should the Liberals end up winning the election later this year, the US president would be facing the new leader of the Liberal Party, Mark Carney.

We would then see the chaos president Trump fighting a trade war against a calculated, educated and experienced economist who has lead central banks.

In late 2024, SparkFun Electronics relaunched their website. They deleted roughly 20 years of archived product information, along with all associated datasheets, schematics and tutorials. Luckily, the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine has good records of the site, and I was able to recover links to 5934 deleted products. So here's the list:
