Made good progress this weekend on #IconBear , my upcoming open-source icon manager for Linux.

* Install pre-packaged icon sets to quickly start building your library.
* Icons are automatically categorised as "Outline", "Filled", "Duotone" or "Color" when you import them.
* Icons are loaded asynchronously, for improved performance.

Once work on importing, deleting and filtering sets is finished, I'll be looking to release the app 🙌

@gnome Very nice guide, going to try on my 2nd #oneplus6 soon. Have you managed to get the OSK working in Telegram? If so, how? I am having problems with the OSK not activating in several apps, including TG Desktop, but so far I only tried #postmarketos edge with #gnome-mobile. #mobilelinux

How fast can you type? Find out with my new app, Keypunch!

I've worked on this for the last couple of months, and it's finally out. Keypunch lets you practice your typing skills with automatically generated pseudo-text in your language of choice. Alternatively, you can supply it with your own text, such as song lyrics, Wikipedia articles, and quotes. Get ready to accelerate your typing speed!

Get it on Flathub: flathub.org/apps/dev.bragefugl…

Shout out to Text Pieces! I needed to URL-encode a big ugly string (creating a template form from URL parameters, yay!) and yep, sure enough, it made it stupidly easy.

The next time you need to encode, transform, or convert some text on Linux, reach for this pretty little offline app instead of pasting your data into some random website. 👍

As the #Nautilus team keeps making progress in refactoring and optimizing #GNOMEFiles, we can see #GNOME's file manager steadily becoming faster.

Among the few performance issues remaining, I believe the probable "Final Boss" of search performance is this issue, which would require some refactoring across the views. Anyone up for a challenge? gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilu…

It's not long until the 1st of June, so why not pick up the guitar and learn some catchy tunes for the summer? I've just published version 7.0 of Fretboard, which brings more accurate chord name prediction, note names on hover for the neck top toggles, and a couple of fixes for various small issues encountered since last release. It should be on Flathub very soon!

Huge thanks to @kabushawarib for eliminating the flickering that occurred in #GNOMEFiles 46's "Global Search" feature! This should help performance a bit, and improve #accessibility for light/motion-sensitive users.
If all goes well, the bugfix would probably make its way into #Nautilus 46.3, I presume.

GNOME will have two Outreachy interns conducting a series of short user research exercises

We are happy to announce that GNOME is sponsoring two Outreachy internship projects for the May-August 2024 Outreachy internship round where they will be conducting a series of short user research exercises, using a mix of research methods.

Udo Ijibike and Tamnjong Larry Tabeh will be working with mentors Allan Day and Aryan Kaushik.

Stay tuned to Planet GNOME for future updates on the progress of this project!

Sometimes I hack around with the transparency & blur implementations for #GNOME, create a #GtkWebView2 with a transparent background enabled, and just am in awe for a minute at what is possible on this platform
